    HAAAHAHAHAHA!!
    :| but anyway...onto the comments

I kinda like this, as long as you won't make the full park like this. Then it'd just make you look like a lazy bastard.

Oh ****. Time to rethink my strategy.

I see a huge improvement like everyone has said. I actually like the way it looks. Keep on improving.

    Thanks jag.

    It look's nice. :D

    Thanks BrianD.

    Thanks for the comments.

(Hold on, message from GigaG...here is part of it)

With all our troubles with CSO and dialup, I think we should transition to LL.

So apparently GigaG wants to abandon Project Force and switch to LL. I think we're gonna do it. :) We'll pitch ideas and get it started.

...oh, don't worry about PF, I'll finish it on my own. Though it's currently not going to be worked on.

    Big problem...
I was experimenting with the Codex Trainer, when suddenly the game window closes and...

    RollerCoaster Tycoon: File Access Error

    Data File Corrupted or Inaccessible

That error pops up. Also, the error usually occurs when the CD drive spins up, which could mean either a dirty disc (clean and shiny already) or a bad drive (possible, but unlikely)
Or .dats could've been corrupted by Codex Trainer. though darkfire would know if that could occur from excessive use, right?

also, shortly before it crashes, all the buttons on RCT disappear!
    HELP!! :(

    Use a previous save.
  • RCTMASTA%s's Photo
Yeah...only problem with that, it crashes everywhere, including the menu, unless the game is paused.
  • ACEfanatic02%s's Photo
Back up your saves and re-install. Run an anti-virus scan while you're at it. Something's fucked your .dat files.

I would hazard a guess at Codex Trainer...okay, guess I have to reinstall. Thanks.

EDIT: Okay, reinstalling didn't work...maybe Codex Trainer's .OCX file in system32 is crashing RCT?

EDIT II: No, that's not it...what the hell is wrong with my game? :???: I'm completely stumped.

    Hmmm...

I had a problem with Codex on my old XP PC. I have no clue what to do.
  • RCTMASTA%s's Photo
I suppose I could work on the parks in a virtual machine and transfer them between the host (WinXP) and the guest (WinNT4Server). Then again, that could be the only solution at this point. I don't plan on using Codex again. I'll try it and see if it works.
  • GigaG%s's Photo
Does LL even work on NT4?

Remember, Windows XP and NT both use a sort of NT code. So, for compatibility, it would be best to use Windows 95 or 98.
  • RCTMASTA%s's Photo
Nice, but I don't have Win 95 or 98. Also tried compatibility mode, doesn't work though. :(

    virtual machine:
The game doesn't work-on a speed that I can use, anyway
It also Error Trappers when I close the game window.

    So far I've tried:
    -Reinstall the game
    -uninstall Codex Trainer
    -use a virtual machine
    -compatibility mode

and that's just about all I can think of. If anybody has any ideas please tell me, I need all the help I can get.

    1. Uninstall RCT.
    2. Go to the games location on your hard drive (C:\Program Files\Hasbro Interactive\RollerCoaster Tycoon) and look in the data folder.
    3. Delete any files that may still be there and reinstall the game.
    4. Install any patches and it should work fine again.
  • RCTMASTA%s's Photo
    ^now why didn't I think of that? :p

EDIT: found something. A CSS0.dat had found its way in there and was not uninstalled. This has to be the problem. I'll check.

EDIT II: Thanks Loopy, it works again. :D

With further inquiries into the matter, I have learned that the error was caused by Codex Trainer!

It turns out that the Codex Trainer copies the CSS0.dat file to the Data folder.

    So I guess I can't use Codex. :(
I could try contacting darkfire; he might know what's wrong, but he hasn't been active in quite a while...
  • Loopy%s's Photo
I assume it doesn't copy the CSS0.dat file into the data folder but it became corrupted and it is a common problem when using the Codex trainer.

The game and trainer will work fine again now you have sorted it out. If it happens again just follow the same procedure to fix it.
  • Roomie%s's Photo
Did you have the no CD patch installed? I believe it ONLY happens when that is installed.
  • Loopy%s's Photo
Don't think its the no CD patch as I've had it a number of times and always used the disk.
  • RCTMASTA%s's Photo
^No, I didn't have it installed, and as I said, Codex Trainer is the cause. To prove this, I started the game, then the trainer, closed both, then voila, CSS0.dat has magically reappeared. I try to start the game, however it doesn't lock up. It appears that Codex uses the dat file to modify data. When that dat becomes overstressed from too much hacking and thus becomes corrupted, the game will no longer start. Thus, the solution is hack a little bit, then save, close the game, and delete the dat file to refresh it. Lather, rinse, repeat.

(Sorry for the late reply, I've been quite busy.)

You'll definitely see some screenshots within the next 24 hours.

Well? How is it? Good? Bad? All comments appreciated.

No real progress on Eco or Force, I just had an idea for WorldScope and decided to start working on it.

The plaza seems repetitive (and tan).
  • Liampie%s's Photo
No offense but that looks more like a concentration camp than a theme park.

    Lolled

    Sadly I have to agree...

It needs more variation. Not only in color and foliage, but also in shape of the buildings and the entrance gate needs to be much bigger.
