Hello.

I give everyone a very basic theme, tell them to do whatever they want with it with little to no handicap.....

I give you all practically 5 days to do this...
I get 2 entries...

X-Coaster is the winner by default, as he gets the slot for the big tournament at the end of the year.

Hobbes and X-Coaster's entries will be available for download tomorrow night when i put them up...

Such a sad day...

Yay, I won my first NE contest. By default... Well, I'll take what I can get.

I'd guess the two reasons no one else entered was because they thought the theme was too hard to pull off, and maybe because there was too much freedom. I think people sometimes need to be forced into a tiny little box.

Anyways, here's what I said about my entry earlier:

"Well, I got an entry in. Aside from the coaster design, which I personally like, it's probably among my worst work. I may finish it up later, since it's in a pretty sad state of things."

There was a lot more I wanted to do (Archy, theming, supports, landscaping, more tentacles). And plenty I wished I hadn't had to do (most of the above, but with the prefix of "crappy").

Also, why wasn't Hobbes entry a possibility? EDIT: Nevermind, I figured it out.

Honestly the horror movie shit throw me off. Had it been a simple just pick a movie I think I could have done something. But last weekend was just a lazy one for me and I had no motavation to make a park. But honestly I have no real excuse.

Kinda like how you make spelling correctly impossible as well, right?

But yeah... kinda disappointing. Maybe I should have advertised it... but I've been freakin' busy as heck lately. Like, more than I've ever been before.

Xcoaster, I bet you would've beaten my park anyway. It wasn't nearly finished, and the theme I was doing wasn't even horror.

Anyway, congratulations. Too bad there were only two entries...

out of interest how come you changed the format of the compotition anyway?
if it had been the normal 24hr thing i would of entered but with 5 days it just took all the fun out of it for me

for me the whole draw of the comp was the time constriction. gave an added element of fun and a challenge. Without it. to me at least its just the same as every other "build a coaster" contest out there.
However might just be my view.

I think the "horror movie" thing definetly threw everyone off, as did the extended time limit. I kept telling myself I would properly sign up, get started, etc, and by the time I was ready to, um, it was today. The super-short time limit makes it impossible to slack off, you see? And it's hard to theme to movies! Really hard! A general "Spooky" theme would have been better received, I bet.

Eh, we'll see. I'm not sure my theme would be counted as horror either. Rottentomatoes.com only has it in the supernatural, good vs evil, and monsters categories. And as I said, my entry is pretty bad. Probably less than half finished by my rushing standards, about a quarter finished by my normal standards. Depends on how much work you'd count the coaster as, cause it took pretty much all the time I spent on this, but archy normally takes me a lot longer than the coasters. But, you'll all see it soon enough.
