yup, i got rid of it because it's not going to happen to anyone from now on.
just for the reason that no other workbench than aceworkbench is around.

Wow. I won't take sides. I like posix and what he's done, but I don't like how he reacted to Mama Bear trying to help. I've seen that site before, Mama Bear, and I'll think about using it if I need something. There's quite a bit there.

Like I said before, I won't take sides. I have no disrespect for either of you.

Okay, so I installed RCT on the computer earlier and it installed fine. I try to install LL and whenever I do it says "Cannot copy CGS1: Invalid MS DOS function" and I can't/have no idea how to fix it. Help?

Umm... When I gave you the topic, I meant to use it to try to fix your problems, not post in. Oh well. Sorry, I can't help you if this guide doesn't. Good luck fixing it, though.

Well, you see, I looked through this entire guide (yes, all 7 pages) to look and see if anyone else had this problem and had posted about it. Being unsuccesful, I just posted it to see if anyone could actually help. So, yeah, that explains some things. I already tried cleaning the disc and that did nothing...

I find posix to be a bit contradictive.

He moans about there not being enough people who play LL, and then when someone shows up, he moans at them cos it's not good enough...

anyway, zodiac, this sounds like a very severe problem.
the cgs1 file is the main data thing of rct and rctll i believe.

i think your cd is just too damaged so it can not properly read it. could that be it or do you think your cd is actually perfectly fine?
in that case, it might be your system, due to the ms-dos function it complains about.

to be honest, i have no idea how to fix this.

a possible work-around for the "cd is too bad" thing would be to rip an image of it and then mount that into a virtual drive.
but i'm not sure if that worked.

shit. ehh, I'm goin shopping on Christmas break anyways so I'll (hopefully) get a new CD or else resort to Amazon or eBay.

EDIT: I'm looking at it now, I think I'll go descratch it... or at least try...

EDIT 2: well, that did jack crap... my LL disc 4/13/00 to 12/20/06...

You get a disk cleaner that also has an abrasive pad and fluid that can help 'remove' the scratches. It really doesn't remove the scratches though. It makes more scratches over the entire disk that tend NOT to cause the drive's laser to refract away from the data pit stored on it. I've used mine a couple of times with good results so far. My RCT2 disk has been 'descratched' and works just fine.

Yeah, I got an electric one at RadioShack for about 20 bucks. Good deal. Mine actually has a rotating pad you put the disc on and it digs into the scratches and erases them. Like Mr. Clean Magic Eraser!!!... Yeah, I actually tried one of those on a disc AND IT WORKS!!! who woulda thought?
