This whole corner is just some of the best Rct I've seen in years. Really well done.

Yeah the 6-8 squares at the start just transformed me into this world and then I just felt lost in an amazing park. I feel like I understood what you were building in your head and how great this world was. This is one of the only pieces of RCT that can do that for me and I strive for that in my work.

It was really beautiful and very artfully crafted. I did feel I got a little too lost sometimes with some architecture crowding the one nearest to it but I see that's the style although maybe a little bit more open space would have sold the buildings more for what they were. I didn't like the suspended. The insides and travelling up the curved lift were cool but the games supports really stopped it from having the amazing impact when the umbrellas were holding it up. You missed a really big trick there.

Overall it was stunning and this is by far the best park of H2h for me. My only critique is I wanted a bit more of a backstory in the readme to delve deeper into some of the concept. Your park did more than enough to suggest this world but because I liked the place that much I just wanted to know more. When viewing it I actually thought a few people wouldn't get this but reading everyones views it's obviously touched a lot more people than I expected. You know the feeling you get from 'UP' when you watch it . . . that's what it gave me. lol anyway, as you can see you've impressed me.

When I opened it and I saw the book I was saying "oh yeah, it's on". Then I viewed the rest of the park. Not to be a dick but I've never seen so many cool themes (on paper) done to such a mediocre, uninspired way. I wasn't impressed by most but the station for Raven was structurally beautiful. Whoever created that station is very talented because it looked amazing. I wish the rest of the park lived up to that detail, direction and skill. No contest for me guys.

I'm not surprised by Turtle at all.

Congrats to both teams, both built fantastic parks this round.
  • trav%s's Photo
I guessed AvanineCommuter, I didn't guess any of the others on either park.

    Again, Kitcheners, fantastic work.

    I guessed AvanineCommuter

    Brilliant...

Anyway, I'd like to give a big hand to Fizzix and Xcars who both stepped up their game and made a great park. Looking at the roster I would never have guessed it was just you guys involved this week. It was just unlucky you had to come up against one of the best parks of the season so far. Nice work.

Guessed Turtle and AC but never saw Wick in there. Amazing combination and that's why you've produced such a beautiful piece of RCT.

Fizzix and Xcars, congratulations on getting a finished park in, two of you building must have been hard but I'm sure your next release will be even more impressive.

I was impressed by the classic. Not massively cohesive, IMO, but still showed some moments of brilliant ideas, fun archy, and high quality. I think this has shown both of you step up ur game! Well done!

I think my favorite part of our park is the maturity of it. Considering many of us started playing rct around the same teenish years, rct has definitely matured along with its consistent players. La reve is a clear example of that. Fantasy has consistently been seen as magic and science fiction and fairy tales and such, but this park is artistically fantasy. This park moves past that with more abstract bits where archy becomes art and rides are supported by balloons, not to suggest that pure fantasy of that, but to convey an emotion and an idea. At least, that is how I viewed much of this park. So congrats team members, I think u have pushed the boundaries.

    I built London, Fantasy, and Jules Verne. Xcars built about half of Horror, and added nice touches around the park. He couldn't do much more because of RL commitments, but I really appreciate his efforts and time spent on this. I'm still learning as far as CSO is concerned, so nearly everything I built on this was something I've never done before. My favorite parts built by me;

    Raven Station
    Great Glass Hall
    Oz

Obviously I put a bunch of time into this, and it's sad to see it lose, but I'm honored that it lost to such a revolutionary effort as Le Reve Parapluie. Seriously guys, great stuff here.

Fizzix and XCars, really well done on getting a largely finished park in on time. There were parts of this I absolutely loved. The station to Raven was brilliant, pure brilliance. Same goes for the glass roof in the Jules Verne area, gave a lovely impression. Also, the moment when I realised I was looking at a Wizard of Oz section when I noticed the yellow brick road, that was special for me.

I really hope that you can carry on with some CSO work Fizzix, as I really enjoy it and you have a great eye for atmosphere.

I'm really happy with the way that our park turned out. As always in a contest setting we had to rush a lot of it, but I don't think the park is any weaker for it. You take a risk with making a theme that's not going to be immediately tangible for most people, and another risk with not including an extensive readme to explain everything, but honestly I like parks to have enough feeling in them to convey what you're trying to tell the audience without walking them through it. And also to leave a little something to the imagination, obviously!

Massive thanks has to go to Wick and AVC here, they were a true pleasure to work with. AVC is the new Xcoaster. I've never seen someone completely nail a theme and idea so perfectly before. Not just once, either. Everything he built on this was brilliant. Also, his initial sketches of this idea totally shaped my feelings for this park, and had a massive bearing on how it turned out. The guy's just really really good. Can't wait to see more from him.

Wick plays RCT unlike anyone i've ever seen. The only person I can begin to compare him to is maybe Phatage... he just translates what he has in his head to the game in brilliant ways. Uses of scenery pieces i've never even considered before, I had to actually deconstruct some of his work in this to find out exactly how he'd made it. Inspiring stuff. Not to mention that the whole idea and basis from this park came out of his head. Such a brilliant idea, and it just goes to show that if you have enough of an idea, you can make an RCT park to depict anything you like.

This park is full of details. I hope people go back and look it over a few more times, there's a lot to see. Here are some of my favourite parts.

    - Umbrellas flying out of the Umbrella Maker's window.
    - The rain cascading from umbrella to umbrella.
    - Human cannonball.
    - Singing in the rain.
    - Mary Poppins and the chimney sweeps dancing.
    - The inside of the Emporium is themed.
    - The Umbrella Chute drop ride changes colour, and is peepable.
    - The Umbrella Factory ride, with ferris wheel lift (don't think this has been done before? probably Levis has though, you've done everything, dude!).
    - Tightrope walker.

Wow, I had never guessed that that was mostly build by Fizzix. Incredible work ! Really well done ! XCars, you too!
  • J K%s's Photo
Yeah Fizzix I was really hard on the park compared to your opponent but you've impressed me how you've finished the park with some great ideas in there. It's a hard thing to do especially when your team hasn't been doing the best.

I'd have you on my h2h team if I ever captained.
  • 5dave%s's Photo
Fizzix how did you get into my brain?!
I had the same idea about a classic novel themed park and some parts of it were frightening close to my own concept!

I had been reading Frankenstein in English, and it just hit me, why not do a park about books?

Parapluie had an unusual theme, but in its success I feel as though it becomes one of the quintessential H2H parks. I'm trying to imagine someone sending this in for a panel vote and it's difficult. It just seems like one of those parks the builders would only dare create in the context of H2H, where concept is key.
That being said, parts of this blew me away. The coasters themselves weren't amazing, but they were a huge step up from some of the other fantasy parks whose builders seem to be under the impression that their coaster layouts can look awkward and painful (see Terra Progressia) because they're not going for realism. The interactions with their surroundings was obviously the purpose behind both coasters, and you hit the nail on the head in both instances. They weren't just nice coasters placed in a certain atmosphere as we see so often, but rather they defined their surroundings completely. Raincatcher even successfully told a story.
The architecture was magnificent in places. The dome object you used stood out a little too much, but I understand why you used it. Someone needs to make a better dome object. I preferred your small(er) scale structures like the cinema and adjacent Hausmann building to the larger ones like the glass dome and circus, but I am glad you included them as I think they add a certain character to the park. Very good job overall.

I sort of agree with you about this being an H2H park, but I think concept parks can do well with the panel if the execution is strong enough. Myst being a self-indulgent example. Although granted, that did start life as an H2H park.

Somehow I thought Steve was in this, and possibly chapelz..
But now I see some turtle in there too, although I'm really curious what Wicksteed did.
AC was obvious though and like I said earlier his style really reminds me of an improved XCoaster, with some Emergo and Tyandor mixed in too like someone else said.. You're really the most promising "new" parkmaker to arise out of this contest, although your design contest entry also showed signs of brilliance.
Could you guys post a who-did-what?

Great job Fizzix too.. I defenitely thought some more higher ranked parkmakers were in this, like robbie, magnus or coloradofan.. You really put yourself out there with this. Shame the Germans only have produced unfinished parks and seem so disorganised. I had my doubts when magnus was chosen captain, especially cause he seemed even more inactive than me in the 2 years I was on hiatus..

Anyway, great matchup, might be my favourite so far.

Round 4 was the first round where I was able to make a video-recap for each matchup. Round 1-3 were really short and all three matchups in one video. The commentary is in german, but there will come english recaps for all rounds. We just dont know when...
I hope the few NE-Members who are familiar with the german language will enjoy this though. Please note, that this video is "non listed" on youtube till 8pm (UTC+1) today. The link below is the only way to watch the video till then!

I KNEW Turtle and Avanine would make an amazing park! Well done!
  • AvanineCommuter%s's Photo
Thanks to everyone for the reviews and responses! Also thanks for the Flying German for putting forth a great park for the matchup! Fizzix and Xcars, I'm not familiar with your previous works but I was impressed with certain parts of the park such as the Jules Vernes area (LOVE the glass covered arcade + supports!) and the station for the Raven was great as well. Certain areas such as Peter Pan was sort of a let down though; it looked like a coaster in a field of grass, which made it look rushed/unfinished. Overall a strong park with some good ideas with just a lapse in execution in certain areas.

It was fantastic working with both Turtle and Wicksteed. After the ball got rolling, the park just kept getting better and better! I am very happy with the final park and really want to thank both Turtle and Wicksteed for being such amazing builders and amazing teammates.

Our park was a pretty good mix of ideas from everyone involved (the concept was Wicksteed's crazy awesome idea). As for who built what I'm not exactly sure how to break down everything as we've added/changed things to parts others have built, etc. It really was a team effort! For the majority of what I built though:

    *The cityside of the Emporium
*Interiors of the cityside of the Emporium
    *Crystal Tower
    *Gold/black haussman building
    *The umbrella-maker's house
*Both layouts for Parasol Glider and The Raincatcher (both turtle and wicksteed made alterations to the layout of Raincatcher)
*Several buildings in the village/alleyway (brown/orange, gray/gold, purple/tan, purple, black/brown and the building around Umbrella chutes)
    *Station for The Raincatcher
*Umbrella waterfall and cloud under the Raincatcher
*Part of the brown bell tower (with Turtle)
*Bumperellas (either Wick or Turtle named the ride though!)

I can't really remember if certain things were built by Wicksteed or Turtle, but the things I think:

    Wicksteed:
    *The Cinema + interiors
*Three matching haussman buildings in the cityside
*The two bridges (from the Umbrella maker's house and from city to alley)
*Some buildings in the bottom of the alleyway (I think?)
*The umbrella elevator by the circus
*The glass tower of the Emporium (lift for Parasol Glider), green house, and backside of the Emporium
*The entire dome + roof of the Emporium
*Most of the hacks in the park (including the umbrella shuttle)
    *Umbrella Chutes ride
Wick if there are any errors please correct me and add anything I missed!

    Turtle:
*The train station in the city-side
    *Ghost trains throughout the village/alley
*The Circus and all of the interior
*Parts of the interior of the Emporium
    *Mary Poppin's house
*Two Carousels + stairway up to the Emporium
*Part of the brown bell tower
*The Umbrella Factory ride + surrounding area
*Umbrella supports on Parasol Glider and wooden supports on Raincatcher (was this you or Wick?)
*The landscaping around the edge of the park (again, you or Wick?)
*Certain buildings in the village near the Circus
*Garden stairwell near the Umbrella elevator
*Courtyard + Wall in front of the Raincatcher + queue
    *The Rainwheel
*The Canal (was this you or Wick?)
    *Finishing touches throughout the park

So if I missed anything/made a mistake between you or Wick you guys should correct me/add it in.
