Country Squire Amusement Park by rwadams
After rwadams has consistently worked hard to finally garner one of the better reputations around NE, with his upcoming work in the NASCAR Experience and his very, very impressive preliminary entries, I feel Roger left a lot to be desired when he decided to go with LL instead of his stronger suit, RCT2 for this contest. He'd proven himself to be one of the best RCT2 architects around, possibly THE best, with some creative ideas and the talent to execute them. For his final entry however, he decided to go back to the roots, and deliver us a semi-realistic LL traditional style park that actually kind of looks like those old "Station-Style" parks from about a year ago. Not surprising, since Roger was one of those parkmakers creating those 'station style' parks, but I feel his style has evolved tremendously in the past year, but this entry shows no evidence of it. There's really nothing there to hold the interest of the viewer, no stand-out rides or buildings that really make the person want to look at it for more then a few seconds. Still a solid effort, I'm just looking forward to seeing more of RW's work in RCT2.
anyways, if this is last...cant wait to see the rest!
im just a tad dissapointed we didnt get to see something as high calibur as ur PT qualifying rounds...altho im sure people will be saying the same thing about my stuff :-p.
I thought it was over-treed, and the architecture could use a bit of work, but that was really my only big complaint.
Overall, I liked this park, but it wasn't great by any means, and I agree that rwadams should just stick with RCT2.
Anyways, this park was very "country squire"ish, with a nice kind of rustic, hometown feeling I found. The kind of by-the-lake, not-trying-to-be-anything-special kind of place you could picture being in a small town. Because of that, however, the coasters (with the exception of the woodie) totally didn't fit with the rest of the park. They disrupted the atmosphere greatly. I liked the woodie though, for its nice and simple out-and-back layout in which the "back" part seemed never to have an end, and its placement off to the side, which helped it avoid disrupting the rest of the park at least on its part. The layout of the overall park, I'm talking about the buildings and such, was nice. I thought maybe some picnic grounds should have been put by the lake off to the side of the main paths.
P.S. Iris, just alerting you, the description of the PT in its section as "the most high-stakes competition in RCT history has been voted upon and judged" is a copy of the description of Hi-Rollers. There can only be one most high-stakes competition.
then again,
i thought he was going to be a major competitor.
Anywayz, I too think your rct2 skills are better than your rct1, but I like the realistic appraoch here...
Overall, a nice entry and I can't wait to see more entries...

Still, I enjoyed your prelims, and look forward to nascar.
Look forward to more PT releases!
Anyway, I'm glad to see someone change from RCT2 to LL because you don't see that happen a lot. I think the park wasn't bad, but not too good either. It's name was "nova park" by the way...

The park itself wasn't exactly bad, it has just all been seen before, the coaster layouts were also a little weak.
The plain grass areas with nothing on them at the entrance were odd, not sure I really liked it.
Not bad for your weaker game though. Well Done.

I liked the woodie and verticle for what they were, you prolly should have made the vert's trains shorter though, but the other coasters were really lacking. There was nothing really exciting going on in this park, but I did like the atmosphere you created . You did over-tree it here and there, and it still does look like you're back at the station (which some people don't appreciate too much)... Perhaps if you would have stuck to RCT2 you would have done much better. Oh well, it's always nice to see a change.
