Country Squire Amusement Park by rwadams

After rwadams has consistently worked hard to finally garner one of the better reputations around NE, with his upcoming work in the NASCAR Experience and his very, very impressive preliminary entries, I feel Roger left a lot to be desired when he decided to go with LL instead of his stronger suit, RCT2 for this contest. He'd proven himself to be one of the best RCT2 architects around, possibly THE best, with some creative ideas and the talent to execute them. For his final entry however, he decided to go back to the roots, and deliver us a semi-realistic LL traditional style park that actually kind of looks like those old "Station-Style" parks from about a year ago. Not surprising, since Roger was one of those parkmakers creating those 'station style' parks, but I feel his style has evolved tremendously in the past year, but this entry shows no evidence of it. There's really nothing there to hold the interest of the viewer, no stand-out rides or buildings that really make the person want to look at it for more then a few seconds. Still a solid effort, I'm just looking forward to seeing more of RW's work in RCT2.

I agree. He should of done RCT2. Oh well. Nice anyway..

i liked the woodie and the vertical coaster...but the yellow twister and slc did nothing for me. the trees were too thick and big too.

anyways, if this is last...cant wait to see the rest!

im just a tad dissapointed we didnt get to see something as high calibur as ur PT qualifying rounds...altho im sure people will be saying the same thing about my stuff :-p.

Although the coaster designs were lacking big time, I liked the traditional atmosphere of the park.
I thought it was over-treed, and the architecture could use a bit of work, but that was really my only big complaint.
Overall, I liked this park, but it wasn't great by any means, and I agree that rwadams should just stick with RCT2.

thats 3 complaints. I counted them for you, oh pympy one.

Thanky, I guess I can't count  Or maybe it's just a side-effect of being incredibly tired.

Haha, I had suspected a few days ago, after a process of elimination, that either RW or Butterfinger was the "renegade" who had done LL.

Anyways, this park was very "country squire"ish, with a nice kind of rustic, hometown feeling I found. The kind of by-the-lake, not-trying-to-be-anything-special kind of place you could picture being in a small town. Because of that, however, the coasters (with the exception of the woodie) totally didn't fit with the rest of the park. They disrupted the atmosphere greatly. I liked the woodie though, for its nice and simple out-and-back layout in which the "back" part seemed never to have an end, and its placement off to the side, which helped it avoid disrupting the rest of the park at least on its part. The layout of the overall park, I'm talking about the buildings and such, was nice. I thought maybe some picnic grounds should have been put by the lake off to the side of the main paths.

P.S. Iris, just alerting you, the description of the PT in its section as "the most high-stakes competition in RCT history has been voted upon and judged" is a copy of the description of Hi-Rollers. There can only be one most high-stakes competition. ;)

    Well Hi-Rollers was....until PT came along ;)

I thought it was pretty nice,

    then again,

i thought he was going to be a major competitor.

    I feel left out :(

Anywayz, I too think your rct2 skills are better than your rct1, but I like the realistic appraoch here...

I didn't really like it at all. It's a completely average park that does everything to an ok level, but nothing above that. The coasters didn't look smooth (eg. first drop on vertigo) and the woodie was too short for my liking. The architecture tended to be repetitive and slightly uinspiring. It needed to be morew adventurous - the only place in was was the entrance building, which was actually quite nice. I didn't like the layout of the park particularly either... the way car rides were directly underneath coasters, and the seemingly pointless coastline and random islands.

Still, I enjoyed your prelims, and look forward to nascar.

I'm also disappointed at the lack of an rct2 entry, because i'm such a fan of your architecture in that game. This park is admirable, but reminds me too much of the old parks of CoasterCollins et al to really grab my attention.
  • Tech Artist%s's Photo
Well it was aight, the coaster layouts definetly could have been better, same with the architecture. If this was done in Rct 2 it would have been a lot better.
Look forward to more PT releases! :D

Well RW, I admire your jaunt into LL, but based on the screens here, this looks quite run of the mill, even for LL standards. Nothing really ground-breaking or amazing here, its a nice effort to boost the LL skills, but IMO, you should stick to RCT2....
  • posix%s's Photo
What, I did not come last?! Pahahaha....

Anyway, I'm glad to see someone change from RCT2 to LL because you don't see that happen a lot. I think the park wasn't bad, but not too good either. It's name was "nova park" by the way...

Cute little park, Rog. The invert was my favorite ride, and the bridges/channels made for some interesting atmosphere.

You definately should have stuck with what got you into the contest and what has gotten you the most recognition. LL just isn't for you. It was an alright park....but this isn't an alright contest. The entrance, like some people have said, is the best part...it shows the most unique and interesting-ness. It was over-treed and basically under-themed. We all know you can do a lot better, but you really limited yourself by going with LL. Still a good park, just not a park that has you looking at it for an extended amount of time.
  • Twisted%s's Photo
From looking at screens of your RCT2 work i'd say that is indeed better than what you can do in LL.

The park itself wasn't exactly bad, it has just all been seen before, the coaster layouts were also a little weak.

The plain grass areas with nothing on them at the entrance were odd, not sure I really liked it.

Not bad for your weaker game though. Well Done.

Sorry, but i really didn't like the park. The coaster layouts were generally poor. The woodie was the only respectable one. I hated the vertical coaster and the steel twist. Just looked unsmooth. The theming was ok, but kinda dull, and nothing really stood out.

This park really shows the "station" style of parkmaking that I'm a sucker to, though it does leave a lot to be desired.

I liked the woodie and verticle for what they were, you prolly should have made the vert's trains shorter though, but the other coasters were really lacking. There was nothing really exciting going on in this park, but I did like the atmosphere you created . You did over-tree it here and there, and it still does look like you're back at the station (which some people don't appreciate too much)... Perhaps if you would have stuck to RCT2 you would have done much better. Oh well, it's always nice to see a change.
