This was a design I finished about a month ago and sent in for NE design. I'm just tired of waiting now, I doubt it was good enough to be a design, anyway.

But still, I really like this, it probably has my best landscaping ever.

    Here's a screen:

    And here's the download:

    Enjoy.

    ps I <3 you Corkster.

Amazing work tracid. I don't see how that did not make it as a design. It had everything going for it imo. Landscaping, and foilage were spot on. Architecture was beauitful, as your usual stuff is. The coaster layout was fun, but not something I was really crazy for. I really love your parkmaking, it has definitely evolved into something genuine.

    Nice job.

It really wasnt that bad. Im sure you can improve tho. The layout was real nice for a compact coaster. But there was something about it that wasnt too fun to look at. I dont know if it was all the brown or what but it was just weird. I lightened the coasters color and it looked better... so I think there was just too much brown. Yea the landscaping was great.

But something was missing overall. Good job tho.

From the other comments it sounds like a good desgin. I wish I still had my LL and RCT1 cd's. I guess a member really isn't complete without them here at NE.

I enjoyed it for the most part. The coaster wasn't too bad, maybe a bit unorthodox. But I can't blame you for trying to be original, and it works.
The only thing I didn't like was the beach chairs - they seemed pointless and unfitting with the theme (if any?). Still, it was nicely done. Good job.

i see a misplaced fence in that screen. -1000 points, you will never become a parkmaker!

i don't have LL but that screen looks enticing.

Well, I guess I can share my views then.

Basically, I was on the fence with it, and I wanted a second opinion (i.e. Iris). That and I haven't seen Ed, Mantis, or Posix on in days. It's a really nifty layout, altho in some ways, it seems assembled together. The theming is nice and pleasant tho, and you've settled into a nice style. However, there's not much daring about it, which detracts a bit, because I get the feeling I've seen this often before.

And still, the quality is high, and the ride is nice IMO, so I really can't say if it is Design Quality or not. It's right there, and depending on how strict you want to be, it can go either way.

Out of curiosity, where did you send the design? I was browsing the forums when I was bored and the correct email for all the stuff is nedesigns@gmail.com, not the one listed on the designs page.

I sent it there, Cork looked at it, and as he said he needed a second opinion. So he sent it to iris and he still hasn't looked at it and I got tired of waiting. For the third time.

Also, steve, there was no theme. I didn't want there to be a distinguishable theme, and in my opinion, it came out nice.

    also,

Everything looks good in those screens: archy, coaster layout, foliage, landscaping. I still don't see how this didn't get to be a Design.

I'm disapointed it didn't get in then.

I find this post ironic. At first you say he tried to be original, and then you go and point out the things in this design that make it the opposite. I happen to agree with the second paragraph a lot more.

Its average. That's about it. You didn't get design because it didn't show any thoughtful theme or clever use of scenery, instead you had random beaches with random beach chairs, added catwalks to a woodie that already has it built in, had random buildings insterted in the empty spaces of the coaster's layout that is suppossed to constitute as theming, and a bunch of other things done the same exact way as others with a huge lack of purpose in many of them. Your buildings don't even look like buildings, and you made that transfer track useless with that s-bend because there's no way it could now function, and it was all for looks.

I'm sorry it sounds mean, but I just hope you're not wondering why Corky wasn't pushed over the fence by this one or whatever.
  • tracidEdge%s's Photo
Honestly, phatage, I expected maybe two or three people to actually like this - or any of my work for that matter. And you're one of the people I expected to rip this apart. So no, that didn't seem mean.

Thanks for the comment, no less.

So you built this knowing you weren't doing anything special and then got tired waiting for corky to decide whether or not it would qualify. k.

pretty much. i felt like building something, so i did. is there a problem with that? I didn't expect it to win from the get-go, you can ask panic. I sent it in for the hell of it. just playing for fun. but apparently i can't do that anymore. everything has to win, or be something amazing, or be meaningful. you know what. fuck that. I'll build what I want to build whether it be completely meaningless or a masterpeice, whether anyone likes it or not.
