One of my favorite maps from you in a long time. The landscaping just feels so natural and flowing. Top tier work as always.
Top-tier landscaping and some great elements to the architecture as well. I really like the way you did pillars in particular.
The go-karts aren't my favorite between the hidden areas, weak station, and fairly limited interactions, though the bridge having both guest path and ride track was nice.
I also find the path layout a little difficult to follow. In general, this entry looks amazing zoomed out, but when I try to focus in on details, I'm left finding the whole thing difficult to parse.
Still a lovely entry and great to see you entering a contest on the other side of the RCT pond.
I have to say... you have this epic tropical karst landscape complete with underground mesoamerican ruins... "Bob Kart Canyon" is quite possibly the lamest name you could have picked.
With that out of the way, I have to say, this map is very beautiful, inspiringly so; the landscaping of this park is a standout in itself. The rockwork is amazing, I am a huge fan of the the foliage, and the usage of those minaret roof pieces for the terrain is genius. I also love seeing the ruins peek out of the foliage, with interiors on the sides of the map. This is the kind of place I would love to explore in real life.
The bobkarts and gokarts, which aren't bad rides by themselves, do feel like an afterthought for the surroundings, which stand out on their own. The rides do have some nice interactions with the rockwork, ruins, and waterfall though and I like how the gokart travels over the canoes in the river and has a station in that temple/cave.
Overall, this is a very nice submission; especially the amazing landscaping. This has to be some of the most beautiful usage of the canyon rock pieces that I've ever seen.
I feel ya - definitely didn't put any effort into the naming. I will say that this was more of a fun exercise playing around with some dkso landscaping and an excuse to play around with the new go kart pieces!
I appreciate the comments, guys!
Great scenery work, I think there are few if any within the dkso/ncso space that can match the foliage, rockwork and water detail shown here. Definitely going to be a good reference point moving forwards for foliage like this, and the palette works nicely to help reign in the strong textures and colors of the expansion rocks.
I think what holds this back for me is some of the macro choices, particularly with the ride design. They meander around the outside and occasionally cross the valley, but other than that there isn't a ton of quality interaction with the guests or each other. You might have even been able to pull off some pseudo-racing moments between the two with some pacing tweaks on the bobkarts. And also, at the end of the day, it's just a bobkart ride.
excellent! its a bit bare, but i think that's fine as you mentioned this is more of an experiemental outing than anything else.
im confident you can do something very good indeed in this context, as what is there is really fun and well composed and has a playful simplicity with a high degree of polish
excited for more otter!
Great little map here, landscaping was great and I enjoyed the rides across the park. The temples and bridge work were my favourite thing on the map.
I feel like you're having an experimenting stage in your parkmaking rn which I'm here for. Can't wait to see more.
The landscaping in the map is great. I think you intended to hide the go karts, I don't recall, but I enjoy the way its all laid out. There's a lot of fun details in the cutouts and how you handled bridges. However, I'm not a big fan of the overview. It doesn't feel cohesive or something that attracts the eye towards any specific point. I don't necessarily have a problem with that but it would make the map go from good to great in my opinion if a few different ideas, maybe architecture or differing ride design that accented with your landscaping better, were implemented
This is super cool ! Just from the overview of the map I absolutely love the vibe to this. While muted, the colours work really great together. I absolutely love the little pop of gold in the temple and the blues work really amazing throughout the entire project.
Landscaping and Foliage: Really well done overall. The foliage in particular is really strong. I really like the lush atmosphere that you created with the towering trees and bushes scattered around. The tree objects you used were pretty perfect also. The colours of the greens are really great with the palette choice. I also really like how you were able to create such a full atmosphere but also find spots to let everything breath a bit.
The landscaping was also pretty strong. I'm not really a fan of the obejcts that you used but I think you brought the best out of them. The canyon looks very natural and the river running through everything was a nice touch.
Architecture: While there isn't much conventional archy in this map theres still a lot to talk about in this section. The gold temple was done really well. The little cutaway sections are also great throughout. This scene was awesome
The bridge was also pretty cool. really nicely done! This image might be my favorite from the entire park (minus the go-karts)
Rides: I love the bobsled going through all of the rockwork and cut away scenes. I didn't like the go-karts. They felt a bit out of place and weird.
Overall: I'm very happy I checked this park out. Really fun! I rated it 65%
