Really impressive amount of content. Hard to follow in places, but I really enjoy this overall.
This entry was a hard sell for the Title Screen comp IMO, but it feels right at home here. There's a lot to love - the flowy trackitecture, the big, impressive buildings, the windmills, and expecially the ruined buildings in the water.
The coasters are a bit too crazy for my tastes. The layouts struck me as just kind of random, hard to follow and lacking the flowiness I usually look for. The multiple midair switch tracks on the steel coaster stretched my suspension of disbelief really far, there's really no way to read that other than the track just phasing through itself. And sorry, the wooden coaster's colors are just kind of unpleasant IMO. Regarding the scenery, the multilayered design and variety of building textures are impressive, but also makes it pretty hard to parse visually in some places.
I can definitely respect the clear effort and technical skill put into this, and each time I look at it I notice something new that I like. Removed from the context of the title sequence, I can say it's just not my taste. Still, good work and congrats on the strong placement.
Truly an outstanding overview. My general thoughts from the title sequence reviews still apply here, but I'll go ahead and cover them. The outskirts are incredibly rich with detail, and the overall underwater land shaping looks smooth. The towering wind turbines are remarkably done.
The central park has some pretty impressive structures, but to echo Kyphii's point, the coasters are too spaghetti-like for me. This makes the park quite difficult to read.
I think it goes without saying that this park is supposed to leave an impression on the viewer, and it certainly did with me. And that's a good thing. NCSO parks without expansions by nature tend to be more limited with thematic and structural versatility, but this looks genuinely unique.
This was such a fun park to explore albeit a bit tough to take it all in at times. I can tell you had fun building this though. I especially like ways you used the single rail coaster track (may have to use that technique in the future, thanks)
I really enjoyed this when looking at all the contest entries - was a really memorable one and a great concept. As others have said, the surrounding area is superb and I love the scale of the buildings - some amazing forms on that tallest tower. The entry bridge with the flying birds and the big turbines has a super strong atmosphere. I also agree with the critique from others about the ride layouts - they're a little sprawling and hard to follow. If you could improve the 'readability' of future parks you'll be onto a winner I'm sure!
This park is a tough one for me. There's a clear idea and style that you went for here which makes it unique and stand out. We've seen these sort of post-apocalyptic flood city/parks before but this is a fun twist of eco-punk it would seem.
Where I struggle is the ride design and the readability. There's so many different levels/floors to this island, waterfalls/ponds/rivers, green paths and ground textures... What I think would help visually would be more negative space which is the antithesis of your style and what makes your RCT yours.
In terms of the two main coasters, I just didn't find them all that strong to be honest. Solaris was a bit too sprawling and could've been 2-3 different coasters imo.
Either way, I agree with what blue said that this park achieved the goal of leaving an impression.
Love this map. I like the idea around it. its a little hard to read through because all of the green blends into each other. There's not enough accents to guide the eyes through the park. However, the theme is very original and I appreciate your abstract style used to interpret a flood map like this. The wind turbines are awesome
there's really no one else doing what you're doing, and definitely no one else doing it nearly as well. it's not going to be everyone's cup of tea, and that's ok. i have lots of time for this approach, massive respect.
that's not to say the criticisms aren't warranted.. i definitely wish that everything was a tad more readable, and the color choices in places are a little garish.
but overall, you're building some of the most interesting RCT that's around right now. this map is no different... so many theming choices that are just brilliant, and really add to the setting. you also have really swung for the fences in terms of this theme, which should be applauded. Solaris is an absolutely insane ride, what fun to follow it around. whatever's next, i'm looking forward to it.
this park tests the line between uber-detailed craziness and unreadable and wins. Just! Classic Jaguar. Chaos just about brought under control. The map mirrors that with the off-park areas versus the island with the rides too. Keep doing you!
69, nice.
Yeah this was outrageous and ridiculous, I loved it. Great show. The possibilities in NCSO are improving constantly and this is a fantastic demonstration of how much unique aesthetic the base game and newly included OpenRCT2 Official objects, vehicles, and track pieces allow a person to build. Refine and deliver more like this please and thank you.
absolutely loved the theme, the structures the surroundings, the vibe. didn't love the coasters at all. for me, they lacked vision beyond their striking appearance.
the outskirts really were a highlight. i loved looking at the sunken buildings and imagining what they used to be and what must have happened there
What a fun map! The macro overview is fantastic and i absolutely love the outskirts and world building throughout. Im not huge on the coasters, they are not to my taste. Main island is a bit hard to read aswell, which is unfortunate because i thought the main structures were fantastic. Bit of a hit or miss for me, where i love some parts a lot and some a little less. Overall a very creative and out-there map. Kudos to the very high silver!
I really liked this park. It had fun coasters and pulls off the theme well despite being NCSO. It doesn't feel compromised at all. The surroundings weren't as emphasized here but for me they're more than adequate.
This is such a vibe, Jaguarkid140!
Feels like the same universe as Gorillaz 'Feel Good Inc' music video, but with that smoove house track like I'm on Cayo Perico in GTAV Online.
Saltwater Speedway is my favorite ride here. The big tall hotel really kicks ass too.
I get why the coasters are so freewheeling, but part of me wishes they had more form. Still enjoyed following them around the map, and I will say the stats are impressive. 11.89 excitement on Solaris, I would piss myself riding this thing.
Shoutout to the giant snail, and other animals, on the roof of the sunken neighborhood. But in particular I loved the snail.
Quite a lot of creative NCSO techniques in here, will steal a few. What a fun blend of fantasy building + classic RCT gameplay here.
