I've made it my ambition to beat Mala one day ;)

Thanks for the kindness! But maybe being Mantis isn't the best I could be...being SuperMantis would be, I think.

    Hello.

Now that my 666th post conundrum is over, I want to shed some light on the Hi-Rollers contest, Mala, X-Sector, and a few other tidbits...

    Hi-Rollers
Hi-Rollers came to me one day out of the blue while I was working with Roomraider on our H2H2 park...
At the time, New Element was somewhat struggling. The forums were dead, H2H2 was literally at a standstill as far as updates went, and no one was releaseing any parks or showing any kind of impressive screens...

I had tried to do money contests in the past, feeling that I had extra to spend and I felt that countless our of work into a beautiful (or ugly) piece of RCT artwork deserved more then a "cool", or "that's nice" from virtually everyone. Sadly, they never got off the ground, having only one entry in my last attempted contest.

Then, when I saw things were going a little slow at the site, I IMed iris and asked him if he wanted to do a money contest. Now this was when Adix and iris decided to MOD me, so people might have gotten the wrong idea, but I have held money contests since I had my OLD site way back in the day.

I told iris I would sponsor the contest fully and he was into it, but skeptical since there hadn't been many submissions for anythign as of late back then. I told him first place would get $50 and second would get $25. After a few hours of brainstorming and what not, we both came to an agreement about structure and prize support for the amount of entries. Now all we needed was a name...

We were debating names for I would guess around 30 minutes when I just randomly blurted out, "How about the high roller competition?". Iris, and myself, obviously thought that this was perfect for this contest in so many ways. Not only was it tacky and very ironic, but I actually got the inspiration for the name watching the World Poker Tour on the Travel Channel.

Anyway, iris got the workbenches set up and everything was a go from there.

    MY JUDGING

    Revelation #1
OK, let me make one thing VERY clear...
I can't stand RCT 1 anymore. Now that I have been in RCT 2's grip for a little under a year, I have loved it even with it's immense weaknesses, shearly because the game LOOKS better to me.
I will admit that i find it easier to build in RCT 1, but RCT 2 is just my thing now. This did have an effect on my judging, but only slightly.

    Revelation #2
I hated Posix's park with a passion. I don't know why, I just did. I gave it a 4 originally until I was yelled at. I have nothing agaist Posix or his work, but I just didn't like this park at all.

    Revelation #3
I didn't know Mala's or X's parks were theirs until I was told.

    Revelation #4
I feel Gymkid's entry should have made the Top 10.

    X
Out of all of the LL entries, I thought yours was absolutely amazing. I don't normally say that for an RCT 1 park, but I was floored when I opened it.

You really are the man, no matter how much you don't want admit it. Accept it and continue to kick everyone's ass.

    Mala
I really don't know where to begin, but it has to start somewhere...

    Thank you.

    Seriously.

When iris sent me the entries, I had never seen any of your work. Hell I didn't even know you made ERF until iris told me when I told him I had just seen the most amazing park ever.

When I opened the park, I couldn't believe someone could make such immense beauty. Now I know people will laugh for me saying that, especially fi they hated your park, but that's what came to mind when I opened ERF. I like two kinds of parks, very very weird parks (ala Micool and Gymkid) and uber-realistic parks.

I know those style contrast, but it's what I like. Somehow you managed to fuse both of those style together here. When I saw Anasazi, I couldn't believe what I was looking at. It was amazing in every way. The burning house, single-handedly inspired my next park alone.

I felt like making something beautiful again when I saw your entry, and I have to thank you for that as I am now full gear into making parks again.

I want to say congratulations for winning and I have even more respect for you donating your prize money to the site. It truly shows me what kind of person you are, who would sacrifice his glory to the website he values.

    Closing
In closing, I would like to thank everyone who entered the Hi-Rollers Contest. Once the deadline passed, a lot of people thought the contest was a bust with only 22 entries, but as we can all see now with iris's genius ploy to milk it more by releasing an entry a day, the contest was far more successful then I could ever imagine.

I also would like to publically apologize to my clubmates and HR entrants Clitchwolf and sloB for inadvertantly DQing them/ I know you two worked really hard and it was definitely a big mistake on my part. I am truly sorry...

To everyone else, this is just the beginning....

Don't worry about it, Raven. I would have fallen somewhere in the middle there and the park really wasn't anything special.

Anyway, good read and can't wait to see some more great contests here at NE.

One subtle thing I just noticed. Mala, did you hack the pirate windows in the village to make them a half window, or is that scenery or what? It was a very small detail that I just noticed, and am now fascinated by, since you paid that much attention to detail.

Mala, I've enjoyed your work for years, so I was delighted to see that you've decided to try RCT2. I just checked out ERF and I was amazed. The atmosphere and landscaping are superb. The architecture is, like many have said, a seemless fusion of realism and fantasy. I love the way you play with elevations, especially with the paths and queues.

There was one section with multi-colored rocks that I thought looked a bit bare, and I'm not too keen on underground stations, but in general the park was astounding.

I look forward to downloading the other RCT2 parks in this great contest.

I might try to enter it, but with H2H and Park Wars, it sounds like too much work for non-parkmakers...

deanosrs - Horrible tree selection...only section worth looking at was the one with the vertical. Rides were quite poor.

RCTFlame - A little boring and repetitive..overall just nice

Junya Boy - A lot like every other of your parks..maybe experiment a little..loved the launched woodie/steel

Gymkid - Big buildings were nice, but toooooo many flowers...that let the park down. Overall very different and i liked it.

Aviator - Rushed, but quite a nice atmosphere.

Corkscrewed - It was nice but thats all.. I loved the size of the buildings but the amount of different coloured roofs put me off...

Butter - Realllllyyy good. I liked this a lot. Good ideas especially the chariot racing. Some bad points such as a few of the rides.

Mala - king of landscaping..amazing and deserved winner. Great rapids ride but not keen on the woodie. The steel was good but i didn't like amount of supports

    expect my rct1 ones tmoro..

o.k. I know I am a little late, but now I actually have the patience to write at least one review.

    I'll go with Mala first.

Escalante River Falls seemed to be quite an amusing park from when I first saw the pic iris posted. Once I opened the file.... I was on my own to exploring. At first, I didn't know what to think of it. Some parts were nice while some weren't the best. I love the use of building blocks and I think you weren't even close to using to many. You can never use to many of anything. The structures you made from Toon's amazing pieces were so unique and it seemed as if they had there own story to tell about a legend. A legend of a certain person who can prove anything. Something I was soon to find out. As I explored more of your park, The more I started to become interested in what you you have created. I started to wander deeper into the park, wondering what was in store for me. The architecture I saw as I passed by was beautiful. The ideas you have come up with surprise me. There were so many places that aren't able to be seen just by looking. I observed deeper into your architecture and structures and I soon discovered even more unique things, more things that made me want to keep exploring, and wondering. I cross the bridge which crossed over a small river which had such a nice atmosphere and feeling to it. I literally stayed in that one spot and just absorbed everything in, little by little. I slowly moved on and found myself looking at the rapids ride. So interesting it was to observe and watch them take it's rough course through the falls of the beautiful Escalante River. Again I was intrigued by your outstanding work with Toon's quarter tile blocks. While with a plain and yet repeating pattern, it stood out among everything else. It showed how unique and original you can actually be. Everywhere I went in this park, I saw something that would make me want to do something like this. After nearly an hour of exploring in your park, I loved all of it. It was the first park I ever looked at and spent the time to look beyond what was actually there. I actually felt as if I were in the park. Again, awesome job Mala. I would give Escalante River Falls an outstanding 8.5/10.

After seeing this stunning work. I searched around for some of your previous work. I stumbled across Mount Sinister and Cydonia City. To my surprise, Those parks had the same affect on me as Escalante did. I am really starting to love your style Mala. You really prove that anything can work well with RCT1 or RCT2. Many of you will definately disagree with me, but this is my opinion.

This will have to be a huge concern for my next work.

I really look foward to seeing it Mala. I hope someday you will come out of the shadows a little more often so we can get to know you a little better. ;)

p.s. please forgive me if there are any spelling errors or other things. I will fix them when I get the chance to.
