CP6 notes - Wave Rider was a special coaster for me as I had the opportunity to work on the real surf coaster, Pipeline. It's a cool ride concept and a fun ride experience. The vertically moving seats lend themselves to a layout that's filled with snappy directional changes and climbing and diving corners. The dive loop pieces also provided an opportunity to do a big overbank as the first element leading to a nice twisty layout. The double launch with the little hop in the middle iterates on Pipeline's design with a quick direction change and a dive down to the water splash element before kicking up to full speed. I wanted a layout that interacted with itself but also had enough space to get a pathway right down the middle for guest interaction from all sides. I love the added water elements for the ride that I'm sure would give the experience a real sense of action with water splashes and cannons going off on all sides.
RCTNW Notes – When discussing options for a coaster in this location, we needed to consider several factors, including getting the monorail past it, its alignment along the park boundary with the resort expansion, and a dedicated park entrance. The result was a great addition, as it drew guests to head that way and provided a great first element popping over the trees for them to see while enjoying the resort's pool. I especially love the coaster's flow. Just a great addition to the coaster lineup.
