I saw this preview last night in War of the Worlds and it oozed Peter Jackson, it seems dark and thrilling. Finally something to be pumped for this Christmast season; something has been missing since LOTR has been over.

It was on NBC the other night for a special broadcasting.
I never knew Jack Black could play a serious role. Surprised me.
With that said, looking forward to this. -

i already saw the preview on the internet before seeing war of the worlds today. as soon as the preview started, i said to my friend "this is the king kong trailer". about 3/4 of the way through, he said "this isnt king kong, this is jurrasic park 4" by the looks of the trailer, they may as well call it jurrasic park 4 because they show more dinosaurs than they do king kong. is the ape going to actually be in the movie? with such good actors and a great director, i really hope it will be a good movie. -

Your friend wasn't very smart.
I think there were dinos in the book and original movies. It's a land before time type of thing. -

Wow that trailer is quite impressive.
Looks like another one im gonna see when it comes out. -

What? So, like, dinos and oversized apes take over the world?Your friend wasn't very smart.

I know nothing of King Kong except that old Universal ride. Which I miss because it was like the amusement ride equivalent of 70s zombie movies: brilliant unintentional comedy. (Though it pissed me off--the Roosevelt Island Tram doesn't have curves! Hell, it isn't possible to make trams curve! Goddammit.) -

King Kong lives on an island inhabited by dinosaurs, giant bugs, and him. Duh! Haven't you all seen the original? No? You disgust me! I've seen it hundreds of times! Great film.
The new one looks a lot better than the first remake, but nowhere near as good as the original.
PS: yeshli2nuts, tell you're friend that he's an idiot for me, okay? Wonderful. -

I'm getting sick of all these remakes/sequels/prequels/adaptations. There's no creativity left in hollywood, as far as scriptwriting goes. The only movie I'm looking forward to in the future is Art School Confidential. -

Erm, there is a lot of creativity. It requires a lot of work and good ideas to adapt an old movie and make it good again.
If you tell me LOTR was not creative you must be smoking some crazy shit. -

The remake of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (which almost can't even be considered a remake when you think about it) looks fucking awesome, I saw the first commercial for it today. -

The first you've ever seen? I get a feeling from it that it is going to be too "Burton."
Maybe just a bit wierd, too wierd. Nevertheless I shouldn't be saying anything as I have not said it. I'll see it an post my thoughts in due time. -

About "Charlie and the chocholate factory": when I was a child (9, or so), my favorite author was Roald Dahl. The only film I felt ever did his vision justice was Tim Burton's version of "James and the giant peach". So, I am EXTREMELY excited about this film, and have little doubt that I will not be dissapointed.
Also, let me say this: it is impossible for a Roald Dahl film to ever be too wierd. -

I'm very excited about the new Kong... part because of the subject matter, part because of Peter Jackson (who's been a genius since the Meet the Feebles/Bad Taste/Frighteners days), and part because the trailer was damn awesome.King Kong lives on an island inhabited by dinosaurs, giant bugs, and him. Duh! Haven't you all seen the original? No? You disgust me! I've seen it hundreds of times! Great film.

I agree about the classic, I caught it when they played it on TCM a while ago. I can't wait for the restored DVD (with the lost giant spider scenes added back in if I've heard correctly) that's coming out around the release of PJ's version. -

Conciously, I'm not sure about the Burton remake (we all remember what happened when he tried to do Planet of the Apes right?). But the damn trailers are like an infection forcing me to look forward to June 15th. They just so deliciously wacky.About "Charlie and the chocholate factory": when I was a child (9, or so), my favorite author was Roald Dahl. JUNE 15?
Anyway, yeah, it's been a while since I've watched the original (I have a tape lying around at home), so I forgot about the natives, and when they showed the dinos, that's when it came flooding back. Naomi Watts looks pretty good too.But Kong owns them.
Andy Serkis (Smeagol) does the 3d capture for the ape. Talk about two characters who couldn't be more opposite. -

Adapting and inventing are two different forms of art. That's why there's both an original and an adapted screenplay oscar at the academy awards. Though old concepts can be made into something just as good, there's nothing like a fresh idea. Personally, I'd rather buy something new than recycled.Erm, there is a lot of creativity. It requires a lot of work and good ideas to adapt an old movie and make it good again.
