Well I too can't understand how people didn't enjoy this - i've just seen it and i'm still on a high. I was sceptical to begin with (didn't know much about it really) but was really won over.

I found a hell of a lot of it funny, I thought some of it was genuinely creepy, it wasn't saccharine in any way and I loved the scattishness of it all.

Great fun. DVD for sure. Money well spent.

    How did I miss this?

I thought the film was lesser Gilliam, certainly not on par with my favourites, but far better than most anything out then, or now, for that matter. I looked over the showtimes tonight and the only things playing here are "family" films, clichés organised in a way scientifically proven to guarantee an Oscar nomination, and a few dumb horror films.

    Anyways.

It was a fun movie, but it wasn't a great movie. It didn't work as a whole, I thought, but many of the individual pieces were wonderful.

I agree with JBruckner that the second half was far worse than the first, and that Cavaldi was the best part.

It was forgettable entertainment, which is great in a world without much entertainment to begin with, but I demand something more.

    Sorry.
