Today's revelation: not many people in the US have electric kettles?!

So do you have an electric kettle?
Is the US actually living in the stone age when it comes to kitchen appliances?!

    Seriously, this is just mind-boggling.

    No electric kettle here.
But I don't think I've wasted that much of my life waiting for water to boil...
  • tracidEdge%s's Photo
i don't think i care how my water gets boiled as long as it happens.

I can't remember the last time I had to boil water for anything. So I don't need a kettle, electric or otherwise.

You know what's great, though. Easy Mac. Macaroni and cheese without that hassle of boiling water. Beautiful thing, that Easy Mac.

That is what a microwave is for!
But there is a certain quality and desire for boiled water, like, I love boiling things on the stove, it's so, well, rustic.

Lets see, we have coffee machines for coffee and we don't drink tea. What do we need this for?

holy crap you stone age peeps, I have never used a stove top kettle ever before always been an electric one for me. I never knew you were so far behind.

kettles... lol... nobody calls them that in California. Only place remotely close is Six Flags Magic Mountain with Katy's Kettle.
  • JJ%s's Photo
wat the hecd do you call them then? :S
  • mantis%s's Photo
lmao this is hilarious - you don't just boil water for tea. Coffee, hot chocolate, ready meals...damn, this is so funny!
Also the fact that your kettles cost so much - we get them for about £5 from Tesco!
  • Jellybones%s's Photo
I leave coffee to the pros...Dunkin Donuts. As for hot chocolate and ready meals, uh yeah that's what we have microwaves for.
  • JJ%s's Photo
coffee is just as easy to make as tea.
    infact coffee is easier.

I agree with Jelly and Bruckner, it only takes like a minute or a minute and a half to boil a cup of water in a microwave.

Stovetop kettles are the shit. My friend's house would not be what it is without that long wail of the kettle informing all present that the hot water is ready. With an electric kettle, there is no such signal given. I usually walk out to the kitchen about two hours later, see the kettle, and remember that I wanted to boil water for something, but forget what.

Stovetop kettles are old school. Don't hate on them.

BECAUSE MOST OF US USE MICROWAVES THAT WORK JUST AS WELL.

What don't you people get about this. God, Europeans are thick.
