Wow, was it 2002 that Iris started this site up? If so, then that was a few days or weeks before the site launched.

I think it was 2002 cos I joined RCTUK in 2001, which was the year before.
It's been a while.

So, that was the beginning...

It was started in July or August of 2002....

So we're coming up on our fifth year. I had everything older by a year in my head.

i remember we all had to re-register in august 02 due to some forum issues?

Ah good times. I remember that first spotlight and the hidden parks...they were great, although I was shit at finding them.
I also remember not really 'getting' UIX at first. Same with A:LE. Funnily enough, I now hold A:LE in the highest regard (as in, top 5 ever).
I also remember writing a review of WME's Myth Of The Lost Gem and being confused by that half-loop lift on that one coaster.
I'm getting all nostalgic.

I had the HTML of all that saved for the longest time.
I was going to do a "hilarious" spoof of NewElement and its various members. It's amazing, the effort I was willing to go to just to spite Iris.

There were nine (9) front page updates on June 26. I know it was the first day and such, but 9?

Lol. Cant exactly compare that to this days new element. Many mroe features now and is so well known, with such great parkmakers.

I dunno, I have a certain affection for when this site first started. I was completely out of the Danimation loop of course, but NE was a really nice place to fit in even though I didn't know that many people.
Plus, people like Jalle and kiddo were around. It was very homely.
