I think this is exciting. I mean the jazz vs. Spurs. that is a great match up. I say the Jazz beat the Spurs now 4 games to 2. Then the cavs taking the Pistions 4 games to 3 games. then for the Jazz to take the championship in 6 games. -

I am tired of seeing the Spurs and Pistons in the playoffs. I would have loved to see a Suns vs. Cavs finals. Oh well.
I am from Seattle so I am just absolutely THRILLED we are going to get Durant. It's about time the Sonics get catch some luck. I've already put the uniform on him, lol. -

King James Takes Game 5
Thursday night in Detroit, 22 year-old NBA star Lebron James single handedly dominated the Detroit Pistons. James scored 29 of his 48 points in the fourth quarter and two overtime periods to lead the Cleveland Cavilers to a 109-107 victory in Game 5 of the NBA’s Eastern Conference Finals.
In the first quarter, James was in danger of never even getting to have what TNT Broadcaster Marv Albert would later refer to as “One of the greatest games in NBA history” when he received a technical foul after rushing the Detroit Piston’s Antonio McDyess. McDyess was ejected with 28 second left after committing a hard cross body foul that sent Cleveland’s Anderson Varejao slamming into the hardwood floor. Fortunately for Cleveland, James was held back by five players.
Detroit finished the first quarter with a 29-23 lead. The teams went into halftime with the Pistons leading 52-51. After many low scoring battles in the series, each team was now on pace to score 100 or more points.
Cleveland’s rookie guard Daniel “Boobie” Gibson hit a three point shot with one second left to tie the game at 70-70 as time ran out in the third quarter. Piston’s guard Richard Hamilton manage to upstage that shot by tossing in a double clutch half court shot as time expired; however, it was waived off after a review by the referees.
The forth quarter started with James on the bench for the first three minutes. With 3:15 left in the quarter the Pistons had built a lead of 88-81. At this point James would go on a scoring rampage that TNT commentator and former Chicago Bulls shooting guard Steve Kerr would later refer to as “Jordenesq.” James trimmed the Pistons lead to 88-87 within 58 seconds.
Regulation came to a dramatic close as James drove the lane and dunked with 31 seconds remaining to give the Cavs a one point lead. The dunk was instantly answered by Pistons point guard Chauncey Billups who nailed a three pointer with 22 seconds left to put the Pistons back up 91-89. Somehow James managed to drive the lane and dunk once again on a virtually identical play and the game went into overtime tied at 91-91.
Overtime started with each team matching each other, first with free throws, then with jump shots, that evened the score at 95-95. Another pair of free throws followed and the game was again tied at 96-96 with 2:17 remaining. Once again it was time for James to take over as he scored four straight points to put the pistons down 96-100 with 33 seconds on the clock. However the Pistons would hit two free throws, force James into shooting an air ball, and then with three seconds left Billups hit two more free throws that sent the game into a second overtime tied at 100 all.
In the second overtime Detroit’s Chris Webber converted an “and 1” play to put the Pistons up 107-104. On the next play James nailed a long three pointer to tie the game. The final minute saw three unconverted shots and the Cavs got the ball with 11 seconds left. In the final seconds James drove the lane weaving between Pistons defenders to hit a lay up and give Cleveland the lead. With only two seconds left Billups’ last second runner was deflected and Cleveland won the game 109-107.
At the press conference following the game, Cavilers’ Head Coach Mike Brown said of LeBron James, “This is the single best game I have ever seen at this level in this atmosphere, hands down. He was awesome.”
The Cleveland Cavilers now take a 3-2 series lead. On Saturday they will have a chance to win the NBA’s Eastern Conference Championship and advance to the NBA Finals where they would face the Western Conference Champions the San Antonio Spurs.

Fun fact: At my school, if you're taking the newspaper class, and you spell someone's name wrong when the story is published, it's 40 points off your final grade. Overly strict, but effective. -

It's funny how every single team Kumba rooted for or got on the bandwagon for (via topic subtitle) ended up getting manhandled by their opponents in the next series. Miami, Golden State, and the Cavs.
Law of Averages lashed back big time this year for Darren, after last year's near-masterpiece. Hehe.
And with that, we'll be unpinning this set.
