iraq doesnt even have anything to do with canada, right?
i mean if i remember correctly it was the U.S. declared war on them, right?

"boycotting the Olympics to protest China['s evilness]" the same as "protesting soldier's funerals because you oppose the Iraqi war"

I can't prove it... this is not something that can be objectively justified by facts and statistics. It's an argument in logic. But think about it. You're connecting two things by relation that are not directly linked. There's nothing wrong with bemoaning China's history. Heck, I'm with you. The atrocities the government has committed are horrible, not only against Tibet but against the government's own people (see followers of Falon Gong, for example). But the spirit of the Olympics is about international sportsmanship and comradery. Even warring nations temporarily set aside their differences in ancient Greece to participate in the old Olympics. Separate government from sport. They are not one and the same, especially in this case.

I'm really enjoying them, needless to say. It's disappointing that GB messed up qualification for the men's trampoline, but I have a few friends out there loving it. Wish I was there really.

    "Redeem Team" indeed.

Nice to see, after the fiasco in Athens.

China didn't give them a threat four years ago either. Lets see how they do against the likes of Spain, Argentina, and Greece.

We SHOULD win. But we should have won four years ago too.

Fireworks over the Olympics pyrotechnics erupted when it was learned that part of the elaborate display broadcast to the world in the opening ceremony was altered, done digitally in 3-D computer graphics.

While the dramatic fireworks display actually happened as portrayed on television, members of the Beijing Olympic Committee said it was necessary to replace live video with computer-generated imagery because the city’s hazy, smoggy skies made it too difficult to see, according to The Beijing Times, which first reported the story.

Committee members also said they were concerned that the helicopter pilot who would have flown overhead to film the fireworks would have been “at risk by making him try to follow the firework route,” according to a quote from a committee member reported in a Daily Telegraph story.

'Cute' girl forced to mime at Olympics ceremony after China banned seven-year-old with crooked teeth

    despicable.
  • Lloyd%s's Photo
Yeah that's just wrong. I figured her miming was all part of it?

I bet she was really looking forward to that, who cares about her teeth, really?

    I'll take it!

    *runs to a pay phone*

Hello, China? I have something that you might want. But it'll cost you. Yeah... all of them... muahahahahahahaha

Wasn't that on Family Guy or something?

But yeah, I'm not really one to watch the olympics. I think it's great that countries can come together and compete in friendly competition and all, but I'm not interested.

I like to think of myself as one of the unintelligent Americans who only watches football. Speaking of which.....
