Related Games / RCT3 Has reached RCT2 Levels

Players are hacking the game like we have. People are making CUSTOM FLAT RIDES and CUSTOM TRACK RIDES and of course custom scenery.

Please, watch this incredible video and look at this guys ride:

    we know and don't care

Really I bet SOME people do care.

It's reached RCT2 levels on the creation of lifelike custom rides, but there's still plenty of tricks left to do in RCT3 that haven't been fully explored which I intend to try out once I get a computer that can run the game well. As far as revealing the possibilities inherent in the game that the creators hadn't considered, it doesn't hold a candle to what's been done in LL or RCT2. Show us something creative that hasn't been done before, and I'll consider your point, but this advancement, while requiring more technical skill to develop in RCT3, doesn't push new boundaries like people have done in the first two games. It's a good start though, and I'll be following RCT3 achievements and advancements more closely from now on.

That stuff is not even that cool. I have seen much more impressive RCT3 stuff at that same site.

Making a park in RCT3 with the levels of detail and creativity as seen in RCT2 and LL would require a computer with far greater abilities than what is currently on the market. Even relatively fast computers experience some lag when a RCT2 or LL "knock your socks off" park is viewed. If you took a park like DRC or WWAP or Disney Sea or MMW, the computer would have so much lag that the park wouldn't be worth looking at.

it's kinda cool but I'd sooner play garry's mod than rct3

That is one of the single greatest rides i've ever seen in any game.

Thank you for actually watching the video :)

    The ride was truelly epic.

you should post the youtube link in here. i actually liked the video.
but the ride is rather confusing.

i looked up a few youtube videos.

you rct3 guys can't design coasters worth a good god damn. The only exception i've seen so far is the 4D, and only because the pov aspect is so tailored because it IS a 4D. That was an innovation, for sure, and something only rct3 could do.

Outside of that, I saw so many design blunders it disturbed me. People making SLOW and BANKED turnarounds? Banking is intended to curb the lateral forces of a TURN. If it's CREATING lateral forces, it's missing the proverbial POINT. Oh yeah, and apparently boosters at the bottom of valleys because keeping track of gravity and friction is just too much for these rct3 people. Sad. Of course, most of the rct3 community is either blissfully unaware of what was accomplished HERE and at dnet for so many years, or they turn up their noses because it's the "older" game (oh, and so OBVIOUSLY it must not be as good).

rct3 reaches the level of rct2 if it introduces a object limit
  • Kevin Enns%s's Photo
Are you saying object limits (and, by extention, ride limits, scenery limits, &c, as opposed to having a "All" button) are a good thing? :<img src=:' /> :OMG:

If they weren't, the maximum map size could've been even bigger!!

BTW, by community standards, RCT3 is nowhere near 2.

ALthough I play RCT3 all the time, I don't think it has quite yet reached the standards RCT2 made. Yes, I believe RCT3 is awesome, but not as good as you guys have made RCT2.

I wish I had a video of my suspended coaster to show Blitz that my coaster doesn't go slow around the turns. I'm too lazy to make one though. :) Mine goes rather fast, but mainly because it is a suspended coaster. I should probably start a thread once I get more progress done... Oh well.

What are you smoking Kevin_Enns? The RCT3 community is WAYY bigger than the RCT2 community right now...

Never mind my last comment then, I must be Captain Oblivious.

Anyways, Technique, why do you feel bad for my family and friends?

yes I say that cause I believe because of the object limit in rct2 people get creative and make objects you can use for multiple purposes and think of ways to use tracks and landscape etc.

cause rct3 has no object limit you COULD just build your whole park in a 3d modeler, you make a object out of every house you want to put in etc. this takes away the creativity imo, and the whole goal of these games is being creative.

Both RCT2 and RCT3 have their advantages I think..

RCT2 has more minimal parkmaking possibilities as I like to call it, with all of the 1/8, 1/16 and 1/32 tile objects.. It also has a more nostalgic look, where RCT3 looks more cartoonish..

The level of realism that can be achieved with RCT3 is amazing.. Look at this tread for example: http://www.ataricomm...67#post10645967

That is amazing what this guy is doing, and then to watch it in 3d is something that can't be done with RCT2..
I've seen some of my favourite rides recreated in RCT3, and it looked just like I was riding it in real life..

I admit the level of Parkmaking isn't anywhere on the same level as here on NE.. That is the main advantage of RCT2 imo.. Like blitz said, there aren't really good coaster designers and I also haven't really seen anything near the level of Spotlight parks seen here on NE..

But yeah, the customization of RCT3 is pretty much on the same level as RCT2, with custom scenery, shops, rides etc..

    edit: Just look at this;

yeah its cool, but its all custom scenery. it took no skill in the game to put together whatsoever. thats always been my problem with rct3. custom scenery isnt used to help make a structure, it IS the structure.
