yeah, its all talentless shit. Although that video is a far cry from the brootal shit this guy posted which is mostly just for shock value. Not that anyone can tell the difference, because any music that has growling vocals automatically gets labeled shit by most. Not saying I'm a fan of much he posted.

anyway the playlist I have up right now (more or less top 10)
    After the Burial-Berzerker
    Burning the Masses-Nailgun Massacre
    The Faceless-The Ancient Covenant
    Suffocation-Infecting the Crypts
    Senate-Victorious Hatred
    Saturnus-Christ Goodbye
    Ahab-Below the Sun
    Rosetta-Wake
    Daylight Dies-The Morning Light
Cult of Luna-Dark City Dead Man

Bunch of deathcore hope I dont turn into a wigger.

    yeah, its all talentless shit.

I dont think its talentless at all,i just think its wasted talent and i personally think its shit.Death metal to me feels like a genre that has created its own pigeon hole rather than staying with a larger one that would allow more flexibility.Maybe im just not educated enough in that department

    A) Thank you. Amen to that whole first paragraph. There is a definitely a fine line between "brutal" and "br00tal."
    B) Yay for Suffocation.
    C) Yeah I'm not such a deathcore fan.

RRP: It's a good thing death metal fans don't care what people think.

Do death metal fans not beat people down over the internet?
Im all for diversity though, maybe ill eventually appreciate death metal
  • Camcorder22%s's Photo
Not sure how well Kevin represents the average death metal fan . On last fm and metal archives theres plenty of bitching, but that can be said for all music genres.

If I was to recommend one death metal band to someone who wasn't a death metal fan but had diverse tastes, it would be Cynic. Oh and the 'talentless' retort in my first post was directed towards Regulatin who did say it was talentless. Although I seem to recall he had a Suicide Silence link in his sig. Talk about talentless :p

It's hard to name my favorites... Because there are too many songs I love and they change nearly every day.

But it'd be something along those lines:

    1. Wintersun - Beautiful Death
    2. At the Gates - Blinded by Fear
    3. Bloodbath - Cancer of the Soul
    4. Carcass - Inpropagation
    5. Alestorm - Wenches & Mead
    6. Gojira - The Heaviest Matter Of The Universe
    7. Drone - Theopractical
    8. Pantera - Fucking Hostile
    9. Arch Enemy - Silent Wars
    10. Volbeat - Garden's Tale

As I said, those vary from day to day... ;)

    "MFG"

Essaywha? The Blitz-Sama likes Staind? Since when? ;)

I like the song that I listed, not necessarily the artist.

It said top 10 songs. For me, that changes based on my mood and musings. Daily.

P.S. - the true "average" death metal fan TENDS to be a non-musical music fan who is only truly attracted to counter-culture faux anti-ethical stigma which has nothing to do with the music (or in the christian death metal case, the anti-anti-ethical stigma). You can spot them out like so:
1)only death metal (and only the most of extreme of which) can be considered "metal". You listen to metallica? That's not metal. Judas Priest? According to them, no. And so on...

2)anything that ISN'T over 200 BPMs or ISN'T a DIRGE in LOCRIAN using 7-string guitars and slow retarded chromatic scales while some guy gluttorals out some demonic phrasings about killing unborn children and... is considered "pussy" music.
3)pretty simple minded and obssessed with that which is manly. Keep your "faggot" music away from them, lest they threaten you with their impotent rage.

So when kevin says he's an "average" death metal fan, I just hit the fucking deck!

"Don't bother, the more people who like it the less special it will seem to me." Sorry, this is average death metal fan thinking, so I must have skipped over a word. Whoops.

That fits under header #1a - non-musical music fans also happen to like things less the more popular it is. A kind of bleed over from INDY FAG thinking. Though they will vehemently deny any similarity to those "faggots".

The big problem with obscure things becoming known is people won't know the artist- just one or two songs. Being a Radiohead fan I can't tell you how many classmates have asked if I've seen Twilight - and Radiohead aren't even obscure. I don't think most 'Indie Fags' are prejudiced against popular acts, we're just upset when the natural order of things is disturbed (something going from what you listen to to what you have to avoid talking about).

However what Kevin wrote was ridiculous.

Hmm...I actually tend to think the opposite, not trying to disconnect from the stereotype, its just what I honestly think. Maybe I am no better than them, and its because I subconsciously want to impose my 'superior' taste on others. But I am usually pleasantly surprised when I find out one of my 'normal' friends likes a band I listen to that I would not expect. Hell, I think its the ultimate form of justice that Metallica gets the fame they do with the talent they have, it almost makes up for the rest of the bands people like today (I will refrain from using the world 'talentless'). So what if everyone only likes one song, or they aren't good enough to like them, or that song was on guitar hero, or whatever other lame excuses people come up with why they dont want others listening to their music. It seems people naturally want to relate the music they like with others, and I know I want others to understand what I listen to. So it seems to me those who want the music they listen to to remain unknown are listening for the wrong reasons.

Although I'm only one person, Im probably the one doing it wrong...

there are just so many songs that i love, and being forced to categorize them all into a list would be almost impossible for me to do lol.
maybe i'll try to tackle it later on today:]
