well acording to cell bio, rna formed first leading to creation of proteins and so on, so before a species can actually lay an egg they would need to form the proper reproductive system, which would come from mutations in genetics and meiosis to move a species along the evolutionary track, eventually resulting ina dinosur THAT now can lay eggs, i.e form of reproduction. needs alot of refining nd such though.
