Ask the Experts / Merging Track problem

Yo. I'm using the latest (stable?) version of 8cars, v.1.302 and can't seem to merge track.
I'm trying to merge an LIM into a Giga.
I tried merging "alternative scheme" LIM track into the Giga, tested it,
and WHAM! LIM train just goes "through" the Giga track and crashes.
Then I tried merging the "alternative scheme" Giga into the LIM track, tested it, and WHAM! Crash again.
I've read all the tutorials I could find two or three times, I've searched through this forum for several hours, and now I'm convinced I'm just an idiot (probably) or need a different trainer (perhaps).
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thank you. -

It would be easier if you uploaded some screens of it. Before merging (merged parts above track) and after.
Thanks. -

you need to have a piece of giga coaster track above the lim. give it another color scheme
and then let the giga part and the lim part sink -

it would still crash.
righty ho,
i suggest building it like this instead.
this is it viewd from the side btw.

perhaps a little hard to see, but the gist of it is that the tracks meet, then you place a piece of track from the purple ride, and place it over the first peice of track from the red ride, and drop it down.
remember to always save a new file before trying any hacks, could save you an aweful lot of time -

Thanks for your reply, Goliath.
I double checked it and yes sir, it's (the Giga) in boat hire mode. -

Thanks SSSammy. I tried it your way, varying from one to three track pieces, and it still crashed. F*ck.
I dunno if this matters, but the Giga is built in the same direction as the LIM. Would directing it into the LIM make a difference? I guess I'll try it.Edited by R.C., 09 August 2009 - 04:02 AM.

Try it like that before lowering in your trackpieces.
Thanks again for responding.
Yikes. Still crashed. I set both the LIM and the Giga to boat hire, for both normal and alternative color schemes, before dropping. I then reset the LIM to powered launch before the test.
My test isn't a complete circuit, is that the problem? I didn't think it'd be an issue considering I'm testing it as a powered launnch.
Something to do with zero clearances? AIDS?
Sorry to be posting such "noob" sh*t, but I'd really like to develop this ability. -

dont worry about this problem, loads of people struggle with merging, evrything becomes so mych simpler afterwards
the thing is, you apear to be doing everything correctly...
i dont know what you could be doing wrong...
what operating system are you usinhg? -

Ugh. I'm running Windows 98 on a computer made out of cardboard and twigs.
It seems to handle other hacks (inverted lift chains, irregular trains, 200+ mph powered launches, etc.) just fine.
You could be right though, but in that case I'm pretty F'd. I hope it's something else. -

The problem is in your first screen. You're trying to lower LIM track on top of existing LIM track before the transition. That's probably what's causing the problem. Delete one of those track sections so you lower a 2 square long section down onto a gap and giga section. BTW, nice to see you finally here on NE man. No need to censor yourself either...we're not prudish here.
EDIT: I tried out what I said and that made no difference in the merge. It ran nicely onto the giga track, but when it came backwards down the spike onto the LIM track, that's where it crashed for me. If you're doing a complete circuit coaster and still can't get this working, feel free to send me the park over AIM and I'll merge the coaster for you.Edited by RamSam12, 09 August 2009 - 02:31 PM.

I would not do that Turbin3. It is not the correct way of merging.
Why is it incorrect if it works?
