But yeah, I always hate the "play a real instrument" comments. That's like saying, "You play a lot of CoD, why don't you enlist in the army?" One is a game, and one is real life. To draw a comparison is just wrong.
Comparing joining the army to learning an instrument is just wrong. Despite that, I'm not saying don't play the games, it was just an observation.
Funnily enough I find playing guitar/drums/bass much easier in real life than in Rockband. -

Yes, but they wouldn't.Plus, in the time some people invest in it they could learn a real instrument.
To get to a mediocre level playing guitar hero does not take long. To get to the point where you can play even easy songs on an actual guitar is longer. It's easier to burn out on the real instrument than the fake one.

i've found that most people who can play a real instrument can't play guitar hero or rock band worth dick, and vice versa.Comparing joining the army to learning an instrument is just wrong. Despite that, I'm not saying don't play the games, it was just an observation.

also, goliath, i would fucken warm up with jordan. by which i mean i would play it for a minute until i fail, and then play other songs. which is kind of how i am with through the fire and flames. -

I´d choose Guitar Hero over Rockband, especially if your daughter wants to play the drums.
The GH Drumkit is a lot more life-like and has one drumpad more!
The quality is quite good, my red pad broke once, but it was really easy to repair.
There were several videos about it on Youtube. -

Rock Band is definitely better overall for drums. The one extra drum doesn't make a difference. Plus, if she ever gets bored with the songs in the main game, there's always over 500 DLC songs she can buy from. -

i for one, suck horribly at guitar hero/rock band lol.
i've been playing guitar for 8 years, so when i picked up the GH controller to play, it confused the crap out of me.
i mean, on parts where there would be slides and chord changes, my fingers would move how they would on a real guitar, and cause me to fail.
i guess its muscle memory or something lol.
after a while i kindof got the hang of it, and can now play the majority of the songs on hard, but even still, i find it to be pretty boring playing by yourself.
the only time that i've really enjoyed myself playing these games is with a lot of friends, and when we're able to use the full band, with vocals and all.
which is why Rock Band>Guitar Hero;]
the gameplay is smoother, the career mode is much more refined, and the song selection is so much better.
it seems like guitar hero had songs in it that i wouldnt even consider to be great 'guitar songs'.
rock band had songs that were more diverse, and fit the whole 'rock band' aspect, rather than the guitar driven part of it lol.

i've been playing guitar for a while and i never found Guitar Hero very hard. i think if you just think of it as a game, you know, cause it is, then it's easier. -

Yeah dude, GH2 is easily my favorite game I've ever owned. I can't really put my finger on it, but it was so much more fun than the next two. I thought the song selection in GH3 was pretty good, too. It sucked in World Tour, though. Oh well.
But yeah, I always hate the "play a real instrument" comments. That's like saying, "You play a lot of CoD, why don't you enlist in the army?"
Yeah! I mean... wait... uhhh... I've actually never played CoD, or any other Army game. Just not into them...
And I've only played GH2, GH1 and the 80s one with 2 being my favorite, but it's been about a year and a half since I've played it. I don't think I could ever get into Rock Band with the drum kit and what not, people just look so friggin ridiculous playing that. -
