While I'm happy for Trevor Bayne, something tells me this was a bit of a fluke considering all the drivers that were taken out. But I'm really happy for him and I hope he proves me wrong.

Just a reminder that you can now make changes to your rosters for this weeks race at Phoenix. Roster locks for week 2 on Sun, Feb 27 at 3:00 PM ET. If you don't make any changes, you will use the same drivers this week.

Just a reminder that you only have aprox 4 hours left to lock in your teams for this week IF you want to make any changs and there are a couple of us that have drivers listed that are even racing this weekend!

Now the season really begins as we move to the more typical tracks. I love Daytona and Talladega however trying to pick those races are very hit or miss. That said, the "Big Ape" didn't lose a single step as he went with the same team this week and it seemed to work really well for him gathering 323 point (season high). The more impressive thing about this is that one of his drivers didn't even race!

Looking at the results there were a few items that stood out for me
1 - Even though Phoenix typically does not have "The Big One", we still had an incident involving 16 cars including several big name drivers. For some of these guys, 2011 is off to a very bad start

2 - Jeff Gordon wins his first race in 66 starts and only his second start with his new crew chief. Allen Gustafson. Should be interesting if this will continue this season.

3 - The Busch brothers leading the championship point standings. The big questions is how long will it last?

4 - Congrats to K0NG for extending is winning streak and extending his lead in the standings however gir is right on his heals!

    Yellow - 1st place
    Red - Overpaid for driver
    Green - Underpaid for driver

Looking at next week, Las Vegas should bring back the high speeds as we head to one of the "cookie cutter" tracks. Jimmy Johnson won the race last year. Can he do it again?

Fuck ,well I've basically forfeited the league by not showing up the first two weeks, But I better try. Now who the hell am I gonna pick? :p

(Okay, roster picked, I'm in, finally)

2 - Jeff Gordon wins his first race in 66 starts and only his second start with his new crew chief. Allen Gustafson. Should be interesting if this will continue this season.

IMO Alan Gustafson is a much more competent crew chief than Steve LeTarte...this will end up being a very good switch for Gordon.

Week 3 of the season was once again rather interesting as the standings continue to move around as we start to get into the typical tracks. This was also typical in that the fastest car did not win the race as Tony had the car to beat hands down. Had it not been for the pit road penalty, this would have been a real snooze at the end. That said, Carl also had a very fast hotrod under him and the win was well deserved. You take away the two bad accidents from Carl's start this season and he would be running away with championship. Long season to go though and who know who is going to step it up.

Looking at the results there were a few items that stood out for me
1 - Kyle Busch reminds me of Kumba in a lot of ways. The biggest being his their all or nothing approach. Kyle engine went up in flames early in the race and finished 38th.

2 - The Fords continue to look impressive so far this season.

3 - Tony and Kurt leading the championship at this point. Who will leave the bull ring in better shape in 2 weeks

4 - Congrats to gir for taking over the points lead. Solid team that will be difficult to catch

5 - WTF happened to K0NG this week!? We may have the biggest swing in points from one week to the next with the same drivers. Last week, he earned a massive 323 points, this week, he loses 15! Will be interesting to see how K0NG responds, will he make changes or stick with the original plan? Only the giant ape knows for sure (I think)

6 - Was glad to see RCTMASTA getting into the action. Although this segment is a loss, it will help going into the 2nd segment in week 12.

Is there any sort of Fantasy F1 that anyone knows of? Would be interesting to get something like that started too.

Hey where is my fifth driver?
  • musicman%s's Photo
^Locked in my basement. You can have him back for $20 and a back rub. :p

Sorry about that RCTMSTA. Although you have 5 drivers on your roster, only 4 of them actually raced at Las Vegas as I didn't see the five driver until after I posted the update.

Just a reminder that if you want to make a change to your roster for todays race at Bristol, you have a little over an hour to lock in your changes.

    Good luck everyone

You gotta be fucking kidding me. I think...Jimmie Johnson and Kyle Busch didn't do shit for me last race and it's about time I make a change to my roster anyway.
I swapped Robbie Gordon for Carl Edwards (which was a good move) but, swapping Busch for Tony Stewart and Johnson for Montoya (dunno, I just had a hunch about Juan) was possibly the biggest brain fart I've ever had.

Going back to my original roster (keeping Edwards though) for the next race...even though I'm sure the price of Busch and Johnson went up today.

    Damn.

^ The issue you had with your old line up was you (in reality) only had four drivers as Todd Bodine only races the Daytona 500 in the cup series. I do think you are in the right direction though however I have never been a fan of Robby and even at $9.32, I think you can do better for less money. Also, I think you swapped Jeff Gordon (not Robby) for Carl.

I'm still waiting for the official results however wheres_walto kicked serious ass today with a whopping 421 points. Helped that he has Kyle, Jimmy and Carl on his team.

Just goes to show that you can make up over 300 points in one week. Great job w_w!

I'll post the results once they are official.

Make sure to make any changes before the race start time tomorrow.
  • K0NG%s's Photo
Yeah. Ya know, I tried that last week.....
  • RCTNW%s's Photo
wheres_walto extends his lead this week as he has three of the hottest drivers right now. Will be interesting to see if this plays out for the long haul. K0NG had another good week as he looked to make a few driver changes that seemed to work this week. Finally RCTMASTA actually moved up to 7th even after missing the first 2 races.

Next week we are back to the short track of Martinsville where anything can happen.
