Wonder how the top 3 will look. With my entry scoring pretty high at the fourth place already the top 3 must be very good!

The jump between 6th (58%) and 5th (78%) is pretty massive.

Congratulations to 5Dave on winning his second NE Contest! I'll be interested to see if he can defend the winning spree next time.

This brings NEDC to a close. While entries weren't as plenty as I may have hoped, the top5 were really enjoyable. Good stuff guys!

Now lets wait on the late entries which some promised to still submit .

I think the contest brought forth some nice parks and we should do a contest like this again someday.

I agree, we should have one of these again sometime, like next year. Only with a less compact layout hopefully... I don't think anyone really succeeded in integrating the layout in its surroundings, only Levis, Avanine and 5Dave did it quite well.

^ But imo that's not cause the compact layout, but cause it's a woody. I mean most real woodies are having not as much interaction with its theming.

For the next time i really would prefer everybody building an own layout..., or h2h6...

Yes H2H6 is my first choice too. But the NEDC is a nice second choice, if the layout leaves some more theming possibilities. Not just layout+plaza like most of the entries we've seen now.

I think posix has some ideas about this already and probally they will be fine . if we can just make sure the bench is improved by then we can rock some socks of then .

the problem was indeed the coaster being a woodie, a steel coaster is easier to theme because of it's hollow apearance I think because of the way a steel coaster is supported you have tons of more options for path, theming landscape interactions than with a woodie that looks full on it's own...

I saw make this a quarterly contest and have JDP or CP6 hand us a cool steel layout...

don't do that then we fantasy people will never have the advantage and I can never use my hacks on it.
Let me provide the lay-out and I promise you, you all will be in for a challenge

No one is supposed to have a distinct advantage. And, as far as you supplying the layout...it's challenge as in "challenge all the other entrants" not challenge as in "how the fuck am I supposed to theme this?"

Looking back on the results we have to see that the top 3 has 2newer players really lighting the fire to 5dave I mean, a player without any releases just came 1.8% short of beating a player like 5Dave and the third place is made by someone who only has one release, I'd say these 2players are the real winners of this contest if you ask me and a good indicator that this game still attracts new talent and that with giving good advice this site can help these people achieve great results... I think we need to applaud Pacificoaster and Avaninecommuter for really leaving 2 great players behind them like levis and prodigy...

I really loved some of the entries!
Well, I didn´t enter the contest caused by my awefull CSO skills...
But I´ll try to get more comfortable with CSO, to enter the contest next time.

Well done to everyone, it was a great contest, and whilst only 9 people out of 40 who signed up turned something in, we had 9 great entries, 5 of which were outstanding.

In regards to future contests, H2H6 is still a long way off. We understand it's desired by a lot of the community, includng us admins, however it isn't feasible at this time. We hope to fill the gap with more of these little contests like NEDC until we can have a larger contest.
