Know any good movies? New or old. I've been trying to find some good movies that I have not seen. I enjoy pretty much all types of movies but I guess if I had to choose my favorites would be Thriller/Horror and Comedy.
Here's a few to check out if you have yet to see them.
- Seven
- Fight Club
- American Psycho
- Event Horizon
- Pirates of Silicon Valley
- This Is Spinal Tap
- The Number 23
- The Machinist
- Hellraiser: "Inferno" and "Bloodline"
- Stir Of Echoes
*not my favorites, but still good movies. -

Tbh I hate horror with passion. Anyway a few movies I really liked:
- The Shawshank Redemption (seriously a masterpiece when it comes to acting)
- The Dark Knight (one of the few superhero movies that turned out to be not a dissapointment... actually I was pretty amazed)
- Lord of the Rings trilogy (the extended edition in particular)
- Indiana Jones series (no brainer tbh, and yes I actually liked the last one)
Have yet to see them myself, but apparently they are highly recommended: The Usual Suspects & Inception -

The Number 23 was terrible.
But if you like Jim Carrey, then yeah, go see Eternal Sunshine.
These are the movies I thought were good enough to bring to college with me this semester:
Up In The Air
No Country For Old Men
Garden State
There Will Be Blood
Buried
Shaun Of The Dead
The Darjeeling Limited
The Life Aquatic
Fantastic Mr. Fox
Sweeney Todd
Superbad
School of Rock
The Hangover
Forgetting Sarah Marshall
Wall-E -

the island was a good movie
Meh, in my opinion it was a Logan's Run ripoff with more special effects and that kind of shit. Spoiled it.
Some movies I really like, in chronological order:
1966 - The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (Sergeo Leone + Ennio Morricone =)
1968 - Once upon a Time in the West (Sergeo Leone + Ennio Morricone + Claudia Cardinale =)
1968 - 2001: A Space Odyssey (so strange, so fascinating)
1971 - A Clockwork Orange
1981 - Gallipoli
1986 - Platoon (when Charlie Sheen was still an actor to respect)
1987 - Full Metal Jacket (not just because of the garden hose and the golfball)
1992 - Reservoir Dogs
1995 - Se7en (ingenious)
1997 - La Vita รจ Bella (don't skip this movie because it's in Italian. It's hilarious, beautiful and emotional at the same time)
1998 - Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels
2000 - Snatch
2001-2003 - The Lord of the Rings
2001 - Donnie Darko (similar to 2001 in some ways... strange and fascinating)
2004 - Million Dollar Baby
2006 - The Departed
2006 - The Prestige
2008 - Gran Torino
2008 - In Bruges
2009 - District 9
2010 - Inception (this is how blockbusters should be! both good looks (as in special effects and well known actors) and content)
In short, I'm a fan of Stanley Kubrick, Clint Eastwood and original/surprising movies in general. As in RCT, I hate cliches with a passion. -

Check out Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, I had never even heard of it until recently.
MY favorite movie ever....
and I love horror too!
and although I don't claim to know everything, I do watch a lot of films; I'm a big movie buff. Here's a list with a lot of lesser known / foreign films, and a one sentence synopsis.
ROMANCE:
Atonement - Romance. Tragic romance because of a lie a little girl told.
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind - quirky artistic romantic drama. Hypothetical mind erasing company interferes with Jim Carrey's relationship with Kate Winslet.
Jeux D'enfants or Love Me If You Dare - Romance. A young boy and girl plays a game of dare that gets out of hand. One of my favorites. Stars Marion Cotilliard and Guillame Canet.
HORROR:
Irréversible - French Horror. Story of graphic rape and beating, told backwards.
The Descent - Horror. Women get stuck in a cave with dangerous creatures. One of the best horror movies I've seen in a long while.
The Others - Horror. Haunted house horror. One of the best.
The Tale of Two Sisters - Korean Horror. See title.
Audition - Japanese Horror. Gorefest and a fucking creepy stalker story. Very good.
L'interior or Inside - French Horror. VERY graphic gore movie about a pregnant woman who gets stalked in her own home. Guess what happens...?
[Rec] - Spanish Horror. Zombie infestation in a quarantined apartment complex. Handheld camera style, inspired Quarantine (American remake of [Rec]).
Of course the classics: Carrie, Rosemary's Baby, Pet Semetary, The Shining etc.
DRAMA/MYSTERY/PSYCHOLOGICAL:
Mysterious Skin - Dark Drama. Joseph Gordon Levitt is a gay hustler who discovers a dark mystery in his childhood.
Triangle - Mysterious psychological thriller. On a boat. Multiple timelines.
Requiem for a Dream - Must watch drama about four related character's drug addictions and problems. Disturbing.
The Fountain - Drama. Artistic take on the search for the fountain of youth. Multiple timelines, stylistic and is not for everyone.
Oldboy - Korean Mystery. About getting the ultimate revenge. Big surprise ending.
À La Folie... Pas Du Tout or He Loves Me... He Loves Me Not - Audrey Tatou falls in love with a married man but the situation is not what it seems. Big twist, psychological and very interesting.
ACTION/COMEDY:
In Bruges - Action Comedy. Colin Ferrell is a lame assassin who fucks up badly while in Bruges. Absolutely hilarious.
The Brothers Bloom - Action Comedy. Con men take on one last heist with a woman.
Big Fish - Fantasy. A dying father retells tall tales from his life. Great feelgood movie.
Battle Royale - Japanese action. A class of unruly high schoolers are ordered to murder each other in a battle arena on an isolated island.
OTHER:
Dancer In The Dark - Offbeat musical... not what you'll expect. Bjork plays a blind factory worker with musical fantasies.
*Spoiler* : The absolute saddest movie you'll see. *Spoiler*
Hope you find something worthwhile to watch! -
