Ask the Experts / What is your principal tips to build a beautiful park?

  • RCTER2%s's Photo
Hi experts, do you follow some rules when you build a park? for example, I always want to make the scenery in a zone to have the same color. In your opinion, what should I do if I want to improve my skill of building? Thank you!

Try not to use same colors for areas. Rather use colors that nicely compliment one another, and let the color themes flow naturally as opposed to sudden color shifts between areas.

Also, building with symmetry is a big one for me personally. Although many things shouldnt be symmetrical, a lot of things can benefit from it. Whether it be a single building, foliage outside a building, certain aspects of the park layout, etc.

What do you mean by that??? :) Be patient?

Thank you! I will try to use your way of using color next time. And building with symmetry is a good idea.

He means that a good park can't be built in a couple of hours. You need to take your time to develop every part of the park in exactly the way you want.

I think the best thing you can do to improve you parkmaking skills is to compare your own work to some of NE's best releases. Don't copy other builders, but try to figure out how they did their foliage, how they chose their colours, how they designed their architecture and rides, how they developed their theme zones, what tricks they used to make everything more appealing.

I want to run RCT2 in a window so I can compare mine with the parks on the internet when playing the game.

Have a vision, have good ideas to signal the reality of your vision to the viewer. Do that while making the park look visually pleasing and you have a good park.

I'm not an expert of RCT2, but I think that the time it's the most important thing to build a park! I don't have to much time because I'm a student, that's why I make little parks, but they sucks! And I think that the other important thing it's, organize your ideas in, ex: draw your parks (1º landscape, 2º the zones[if you have zones in the park], 3º attractions, rides, scenery, buildings of food, etc...). That's the way that I build parks, but you have to work hard if you wanna do a beautiful park! :D

No, Just take time in your parks don't finish them in like a week or something.
and try building it in advance

For most people beautifull is an aesthetic thing. Import for a lot of people but parkmaking has more layers. Rct can be inspiring while not being aesthetic. Your one of the best builers around who I actually see it doing. Just take a random screen from you:

Things as colour, compositon should not be limited to aesthetic stuff.
But I think the search for improvement is mainly a lonely search. People reacting here are pretty much giving there own view on parkmaking. But you have to take the decisions yourself. But very important in this process is the advice from others which can make you view though someone else perspective.

Yes,I understand. I realize that when I biuld something I always do what I want to do without a thought or plan in my mind. So next time I will think before my building. :)

Hi ivo, what is your way to distinguish an aesthetic thing or not aesthetic thing? Maybe I should take an aesthetic way to improve my skill.

Good words. In my honest opinion, RCT is about having fun while making your park. The only way you can tell something is wrong, is if you're not having fun. Your parks are one of my personal favorites on this site, just because it oozes of enjoyment. :mantis:

I use my interpatation of aesthetic and look at a screen. It is hard to explain my defination in english. I guess something like sophisticated. Ofcourse you could try an aesthetic way to improve.

And I know, loads of serioussnes. :birthday: having fun.

While you don't want to copy other RCT Parkmakers feel free to look around your area mall or anywhere with an atmosphere you like and borrow the shit out of it. My favorite is to look at a bunch of things and switch things around and put elements from one building onto another.

If you can draw that's a HUGE help. I do a lot and so do guys like Xcoaster, Coaster Ed, robbie and a few others I cant recall atm. All VERY good parkmakers.

Also try and limit your projects. It's very hard to make a beautiful park when your work is spread out. I had a bunch of ideas years ago and rolled them all into DRC rather than doing a handful of designs.
