Had a quick look and couldnt find a topic already on the subject.
Anyway I've always had a bit of a thing against covers of old songs because it often requires so little artistic talent.(Ronan Keating's Iris for example) but occasionally there is a cover song that changes the original to such an extent that its almost un-recognisable from the original and that I can get behind.
So for starters here are 2 of my faves
Ben Howards cover of Call Me Maybe turns this song in to a brilliant track that i can listen to over and over again without having to be seriously high on sugar.

Originally by Carly Rae Jepsen .

And Jose Gonzalez - Heartbeats

Which is a touching cover of "The Knife"'s original. In this case i love both but for such different reasons.

So do you have your faves? If so why? -

Good topic Roomie. I for one have an issue with covers nowadays as most of the time originals get ruined, not always, but more than I'd like. However there is one, that really sticks in my head that I really like. Five Finger Death Punch - Bad Company which was originally done by Bad Company in 1974, from what I gather.

Can't really think of others right now, but this one just has been stuck in my head since hearing it.
Not really sure why it's one of my faves, it just really has a lot of impact that I can't explain. -

In Holland this song has been played a lot on the radio's recently. It's a cover of I Follow Rivers by Lykke Li, a song you'll know I think.

It's a pretty good cover and has this relaxed sound. -

Always thought this was pretty sick if you're into classical:

Although I guess its just a 'performance' if its classical...or a transposition? -

I'd like to add to this topic that I always love what 'globus' does. Globus is a project of Immidiate music where they ''cover'' their own trailer music, even though it's not really covering they add lyrics to their original music. Pretty cool as well.
Serenatta Immortale (original)
Orchard of mines (remake)
It's actually the opposite of a lyrical cover where the author tedoes the music. Here they keep the music but add lyrics. -

A pretty good German singer does a PRETTY good cover of "Crazy" by Seal

A German entertainer/host/singer owns "Dear Mr. President". I'd go as far as to say it was actually written for her, not for Pink. -

For me this is the best cover of the original song "Take Care" by Drake and Rihanna

I absolutely love the Ataris' cover of the song, "The Boys of Summer." Don Henley's version is good, but the Ataris made it much better.

I am also a fan of the Rascal Flatts' cover of Tom Cochrane's hit, "Life Is a Highway."

The Lykke Li cover by the Belgian band Triggerfinger that Sulakke posted is pretty good, but they also covered Man Down by Rihanna, which is even better:
