RCT Discussion / Park Updates

Scale is fine, if you're going to be consistent. Wide paths, large buildings, et cetera. Compare Europa Park World Showcase to Canthose for an illustration of this. I think this park could be great if you get the scaling right!

Thanks for the feedback. As for why I have spent 175 years with so little process:

This number doesn't even reflect the whole time I spent on this park. In fact, I have been working on a woodie layout since November, and only recently I have come up with one that I found to be satisfying. The whole thing was supposed to be a design originally, and it is much closer to the edge of the map than I'd like to be since it was much smaller in the beginning.

I'm a very slow builder, I try out a lot of things, and once I have come up with an idea for an element it is hard for me to let go of it. Hence I have to try out a lot of things to make it work, and it is why these layouts are so big.

I've lost count of how many times I've revamped these layouts, but at least the woodie is done for good The launched coaster will see some minor adjustments, should they be needed. But yeah, I'm not a flexible builder, I adhere to some rigid structures such as insisting on including certain elements in the layouts, and I'm still acquiring new skills in building. I have other sideprojects as well, several terrain RMCs, a conpact urban park and a EE-style mine coaster for my Swiss Park (which will be completely revamped) and stuff like that that I hope to release at some point in time.

tl;dr I'm a slow POS when it comes to building, never consider me as candidate for contests.

As far as my experience with living there goes, that's a very Swiss way of thinking. :D

Haha, never looked at it this way, but that actually makes a lot of sense.

Fuck, I just lost an hour of work because I hit 'Close Park' in the OpenRCT cheat window. I thought it would close the park. Instead it double closed all rides including all the things I hacked. I can either redo all the hacks or redo the theming I did. Be warned!

I would be nice if the close park option wouldn't remove all sprites.  That's always bothered me.

Have you tried looking at the most recent autosave? It doesn't save all that frequently but you might find it's more recent than an hour.

For future reference, closing the park through the console, or indeed through the normal park information window doesn't close rides or remove sprites (I have no idea why the cheat window doesn't behave the same way - or why this even needs to be a cheat, there's always been the option to close the park).

Most benches disable the option to close and open the park from the park entrance screen.

Thanks for the autosave suggestion, that saved it. But holy fuck 'remove all guests' also double closes all rides... Why???

Probably because double closing the rides is the fastest way to get the peeps off them, I'd guess.
