    The End

Ladies and gentlemen, I'm afraid this post marks the end of this edition of Micro Madness. It's been a fantastic contest - possibly even the most succesful contest in NE history (discuss!). This topic is the place to reflect upon the contest as a whole. What were the highlights? Were there any disappointments? What aspects of the contest did you like, and what aspects would you like to see changed in the next edition? How did you experience the contest?

Our gratitude goes out to all who participated in the contest, as well as the members that took the time to download and review all the entries. An extra thank you goes out to inthemanual, who helped us out with some of the quite intense prep work behind the scenes.

Lastly, if you can't get enough of Micro Madness yet... Or if you have some unfinished micros that keep you awake at night, participate in our Bonus Event! Due to the Grand Final results being delayed a few days, and since we're hoping for more than the current 5 entries, the deadline has been moved to Sunday. Check out the Bonus Event topic for specifics, as well as a countdown to the deadline.

It was a fantastic contest all-round IMO. Incredible entries from members old and new alike, and quality way above anyone's expectations. Yet during the entire run, the fun of participating in a contest about an ancient theme park game never was lost to anyone and there was hardly any drama. Nobody took it too serious it seems and that more loose atmosphere over the whole thing is something I love, while still defending the New Element quality in all the entries. Congratulations to Cocoa for winning, congrats to all for participating. I had fun and will definitely join in again next time!

Thanks for organising. Very enjoyable contest to view.

    Congratulations Cocoa. Very deserved winner.

I think the replacements rule really defined the contest. Made each round full and never disappointing, and gave people a chance to sneak through to later rounds and have a real crack again (looking at incities :) )

Here's my very vaguely defined "top micros" list. Of course the quality was just ridiculously high this competition so I'll have to leave some incredible ones out! I'm just gonna highlight some favorite and unique bits, in no order:

a petty squabble - one of the few sort of 'meta/art' micros we got. great aesthetics alongside a weird but cool vibe

ascension - one of the surprises of the contest, and xtreme could have been a serious finals threat without a dropout!

harvesting ocean plastics - i'm so still in love with this, its like a 10x better version of the interior of dynamite dunes

1k museum - just silliness and fun

derail - classy layout, one of the best in the contest

moulin rouge- such a beautiful, warm vibe with a hint of mystery and fun

andys room - incredible structure making and themeing

    cappadocia - vibe.com.au

orrery - maybe my fave of the whole contest. great theme, great execution, great atmosphere, great storytelling.

dreamcatcher - hoobs' best of the contest IMO, just awesome creativity and skills out of nowhere

not really a top 10 since I just chose 10 random memorable ones even if i wouldn't rank them that way

Congratulations Cocoa and to all the other finalists. I´ve tried to follow this contest as much as I could and I was amazed by the incredible level of quality. Great to see people reaching new heights, both the ones that have been here longer and new members. Cheers to Liam for organizing it.

Congrats cocoa. Great contest overall, big thanks to everyone involved and especially to the people who organized it!

I didn't participate (partly because I am busy, but mostly because this contest is no place for LL) but this seems to have been one of the most successful and seamless contests run since I've been a member here. Great parkmaking, excellent participation, ideas that pushed the limits of the game, and most importantly, a satisfied NE. Good job admins and everyone who participated for that after all the drama and sideshows of H2H8.

I have to admit that I only looked at about half of the R1 micros and the finals micros...I haven't updated my OpenRCT2 in like 8 months probably (oops). I never looked at half the H2H8 parks either, but I digress. Maybe I'll get around to it eventually. But for now, great job everyone, especially Cocoa and the rest of the finalists. The site has been leaning slightly in a direction I'm not too keen of since the discord became popular but this contest assures me NE is alive and well.

Congrats Cocoa on the win and the finalists for a good show. Also thanks to everyone else that participated in any of the contest rounds, the bonus round or voted/commented...even just commenting with your thoughts or encouragement is a form of participating in a contest and supportive of keeping this community alive.

Thanks also to the staff and Liam...it was a great contest that was run well and personnally have enjoyed this for many reasons. Was a great way to get to know you after re-joining the community and also to take some rust off my playing. Your various designs keep making me want to try new things!

I'm still shocked Ascension came out in the first round. That would have taken literally the whole contest for me.

Congrats to Cocoa and all of the other finalists. Ridiculously high (and consistent) level of quality across the whole damn contest.

It really was a great contest, I saw splendorous works with very cool themes.
It is not only a park, a theme, but the fun, to enjoy works that even remind us of things in life and also have the opportunity to meet the players, even if it is in this way posting their works.
Of course the players of the groups I participated, I was worried (lol), but this emotion of panicking and thinking "and now God, what I will do?" was fun that concern, because it was a huge challenge for me.
I think it should have more MICRO MADNESS with absolute certainty, maybe 300 type tiles (a little bigger) and defined theme: Examples: space theme, romantic theme, mechanical theme, farm theme, roller coasters theme, water theme etc. (just an idea). :)
