I predict in Theatres it will do good for about 2 weeks then start to decline in money intake slightly. I work at Hoyt's So I know and have seen some movies go down the drain like :COUGH COUGH: Charlies Angles Full Throttle and Legally Blonde 2:cough cough: -

Well, those movies suck. Spiderman won't.... it's not meant to be mindless eye candy.I predict in Theatres it will do good for about 2 weeks then start to decline in money intake slightly. Hello.
I saw this pic earlier in the week...
A few points...
1. Thank god, Doc Ock won't die in the movie (since the Goblin did die in the comics).
2. Hopefully the tentacles are longer then 4 ft. each.
3. Apparently, each tentacle does different things.
Alfred Molina never looked better (or thinner for that matter)...

Sure, it's "Mindless Eye-candy", but remember that most hi-profile action sequels have a good chance at pulling in a decent audience. Sucessful "eye-candy" sequels: Any of the STAR WARS 4-some, The Two Towers, HP #2, Matrix and X-Men #2, and even the 2nd and 3rd Batman.Yes it is, just look at that picture. Mindless eye-candy.
It appears to me that the action/scifi/special effects mind candy seems to outsell the comedy variety, which relies more on plot development and characters.
Funny, that the Reese Witherspoon/Cameron Diaz/Drew Barrymore/Lucy Liu "eye candy"doesn't seem to be holding up very well. Not something you'd expect, but then again, don't blame them, they didn't write the scripts.
As for the image above, it's incredible. The detail alone is mesmerizing, and the gaze down upon the city is a great perspective...like a moment of reflection before he springs into action. For a quiet moment like this, you can still feel the energy there. Something to look forward to...thanks!

He looks much better than the fat guy they have in the comics. The tentacles also look much more realistic. They look like actual machines than smooth perfect metal. Now I have something to look forward to.

Well, that took forever to load, thanks.
Um, well. The trenchcoat is a nice touch, I guess, but I can't say this is totally wetting my appetite for this movie. Also, I believe the tall building is for dramatic effect, it's not really that tall. Duh. -

looks like a typical multi-million hollywood movie. ie, lots of hype, but not actually that good. i can be a cynical bastard... -

Doc Ock looks sick as hell. Molina looks like he would do a good job portraying him. I wanna see Hob Goblin, he should look sick as hell. -

You're right Kai, it's going to rake in the money just like the first one did. If there's one constant in Hollywood it's that mindless eye-candy sells. Box Office success is also heavily dependent on timing. There are so many huge sequels being released within weeks of each other this summer that they all have taken in less than expected. The first Spider Man on the other hand had no competition and we all know how well that did at the box office. Or maybe everyone just realized what a big joke these Charlie's Angels movies are. Anyway I just read a list somewhere of the top 50 comic book movies and the editors listed X2 and Spiderman as number one and two so I'm in a bad mood about this whole Spiderman business. The number one comic book movie should be The Crow, one of the only ones that isn't mindless eye candy. -

If by "no competition", you mean Attack of the Clones, then you would be correct. The first Spider Man on the other hand had no competition and we all know how well that did at the box office.
