General Chat / Rct Station

    Mick, Im not saying the Station isn't a great site.

    As for your points...
    1)Yes, they did start the RCT Clubs, and that's probably their most credited feature in my opinion.
    2)Yes, they had RCT Survivor, which is here now...although I still think H2H is a more creative and fun game. You're looking at something completely new every week, from completely new parkmakers, and parkmakers that never would have worked together end up making some beautiful parks together. Not to say that Survivor doesn't kick ass, cause it does.
    3)Lots of sites had Guess the Ride, and that's not really an impressive feature in my opinion.
    4)They had Pinnacle Parks, yes, but IMHO, I thought the quality was lacking. If there's one thing I take pride in at New Element, it's our spotlight, and I just don't think any other site's parks have competed with ours. While that may sound arrogant, which I apologize for, I just am really proud of our spotlights. Not even the glory days of Dnet is as good in quality imo.
    5)Only the morons actually swear to be cool. And there were morons at RCT Station too, they just did other stuff to be cool instead of swearing.
    6)True, I guess.
    7)I just don't think there is anyone more knowledgable then Coaster Ed, mantis, Posix, or Corkscrewed.

    I just felt that a good deal of the updates were "bubble gum-ish", as in...not a whole lot of content, whereas we release about 7 or 8 great parks per week, not to mention H2H, RCT Survivor, Park Wars, etc.

    Well said, I just didn't want people to bash something without so much as a rebuttlal, so I became a little defensive that's all. We are still buddies..... :)

    and NE is a great site.

    Actually the Station probably had way more morons and immature brats than any other site..... :lol: :lol:

    Well it was devestating when RCT Station closed, because it harbored all the custom scenery. But, now once there is more custom scenery and that kind of stuff all around New Element, it dosen't seem as praticital to re-open.

    YaY! this is realy great news. I cant wait for the site to be up. RCTS has and always will be the number 1 RCT resource out there. No offense to NE but NE is slow moving and just overall a slow paced forum/site. I will still post here at NE but when RCTS is back up that is my main posting place!

    Are you shitting me?
    We have spotlights more often then any site...ever
    We have H2H every single week.
    We have RCT Survivor, which just ended.
    We have runner-ups with almost every single spotlight.

    Can you name one other site that releases as much RCT content as we do?
    And then continue explaining how we're slow moving.

    NE is probably the most active RCT community around. I remember at RCT Station (or any other RCT site), you post your park and don't get a response until the next day. Here at NE, you almost get comments instantly. Thats exactly why I usually post my stuff here before anywhere else.

    And, just think on this, I got to be a high-powered, swearing, dumbass moron at BOTH SITES AT THE SAME TIME!

    LMAO!
  • REspawn%s's Photo
    Yes, but we got to beat you up. Fictionally, of course, but it was still fun.

    Someone should inform Drum that i stole his "=Þ" smilie.

    ah, good times.

    They're a great community, but what exactly do they bring to the table that other sites don't have?

    If you mean the new site that will be online soon (?), then I might agree with you. Survivor has bolted to NE, and most of the clubs are at RCT2.com or RCTHQ. Aside from monthly contests, the FAQ/resource sections, and the saved games (if he brings them back), what does the new Station have in store for us?

    Don't get me wrong, it's the first place I joined, and I quite enjoyed my experience there, so I don't feel the OLD SITE was overrated at all. It was a happening place, complete with the features it might bring back, and especially the features it's lost. The first clubs (RCTM, RCTA) were born there, as well as others like RCT Renaissance and RCTU, and that fact won't ever change. Also, I met a lot of my online friends on their boards. For the last bit alone, I say thanks to Jim and Ogre.

    All in all, the old site WASN'T overrated, but if the new one comes back barebones with no signs of new innovative features, then a mass popularity surge there might be unfounded. Of course, you can't judge the first day, week or month. Complete analysis will have to be done over a period of time, like 3-4 months. By then, the glitches should be gone for sure, and the content flying around left and right, or at least we can hope.

    Jim, if you're listening (though I trust you know what you're doing), be prepared to ante up on new content, cos NE and RCT2.com have a lot going for them now, some of which is your old reliables.

    Best wishes to the new RCT Station, when and wherever it decides to open its doors.

    Kai :yup:

    RCT Station has the most active community by far, by there were many aspects I hated about it/disliked.

    * The censorship.
    * The over-patriotic members.
    * The stupid little 13 year olds who though they could have a debate whilst still typing in SMS speak. Fools.
    * The <13 year olds who announced they were under 13 in every. single. birthday. post.
    * The over zealous mods who would delete anything that was sligtly "rude" or "anti-American"
    * The creating of a 11/9 forum. Sigh.
    * Pinncle Park being, well, crap.
    * Red Phoenix being an arrogant prick. (at times, at others he was the nicest chap you could meet)
    * The idolizing and worshipping of some/all the mods

    However, there were aspects I liked!

    * The updates.
    * The guess the coaster.
    * The RCT Clubs were quite good, even if only 2-3 of them were any good.
    * The active message boards. (sligtly over-active maybe)

    Theres my humble pie opinion.

    Its an overrated RCT site

    Ypu know thats pretty rich coming from you nathan...

    I'd have to say that now rct2.com hold a club monopoly (nearly) and a "spotlight", NE has survivor and spotlight - most of RCTS's innpvative features are gone.

    However, i'm sure Red and Ogre will work thier magic in the sites rebirth. :)

    er, yeah... :rolleyes:

    He hates America, actually, and therefore does dates the way everywhere in the world except us does them.

    Except even broadcasters over here call it 9/11 too....kinda sucks.

    It makes no sense to have the month first (well, in my book it doesn't).

    Yes, Yes I do.

    Go read up on my posts on Danimation. The one about the Dutch going into Iraq is quite funny. Oh, and does anyone remember this little thing I wrote way back before the war on Iraq?

    Person 1 : Look at my new bike!
    Person 2: Cool! Looks really good, I might try and save up for one!
    Person 1: Erm. sorry. You're not allowed it.
    Person 2: Why?
    Person 1: er. You might try and run me over.
    Person 2: And why would I do that? You'd beat the crap out of me if I did anyway.
    Person 1: Yes. I would wouldn't I?
    Person 2: So can I buy a bike like this?
    Person 1: No, sorry.
    Person 2: **** you, I'm off to buy it anyway.
