I'm not going to take the time explain the situation regarding Kazaa, suits, and the music industry in general, I'm sure all you freekypeeple know already, so I'll start venting right of the line.
Ok, first of all
Music Industry
analyze that
what is music? an artful form of self expression through sounds
what is industry? the business of mass producing a product for profit
do those fit? NO! how is it art when its mass produced, how can you express yourself when your being paid to do it?
why are the "artists" of the music industry complaining about how their profits are going down because of Kazaa? there losing money! I've seen cribs they have plenty, too much if you ask me.
A poor singer makes better music, more is at stake for them, and the trials of life are more evident.
Once your rich and famous, how much do you care baout making music you love, your just fufilling your obligation to make music for the people, not singing out of passion for your message.
Thats why bands "old stuff" always seems to be better, and why underground music is often of the highest quality.
Take for example, Staind, Tormented and Dysfunction ruled, because they weren't famous yet, or mildly so. Break the Cycle.......sucked, end of story, they got famous, they got crappy.
Dave Matthews, Under the Table and Dreaming, beauty in musical form, Everyday......sucked, comercialized manufactured crap
so when people say "file sharing is hurting the artists" i say GOOD! they need a little pain to sing about while they are driving around in there $250,000 SUV.
Originally when you bought a record you paid for the recording, not the music itself, it was expensive to record sounds, and thats what you paid for, now we can reproduce sound essentially for free, so now its the music the "art" we are paying for.
I say once music is publicized, it should be public domain, to be copied, shared and given as gifts as freely as any other form of art.
And its not the artist your paying when you buy a cd, its their respective record company, the record company pays the artist.
So in conclusion, I say file sharing should be allowed and encouraged, its a new way of life and the RIAA's argument is fundamentally flawed, and they are fighting an uphill battle. -

Morpheus has a thing out now where you list your state, name, e-mail address etc, and it lists congress in your area and sends out this petitionary form thing that tells congress to take the fighting to itself instead of using petty and small courts so to finally rule out and end the RIAA's crap. Morpheus has won agianst the RIAA before and will agian if need be.
But on a Serious note whats the world coming to when a little 12 year old girl who's family is on well fair is being sued for song downloading.... They don't care if she is on wellfair or not, they are sueing...
This is major BS and the RIAA will fall!. -

I agree with what you both have said.
For one- Most of the artists who are encouraging the RIAA right now are up to there ass in money in the first place. Hell, they can be jobless until they die and still have enough money. Lets take P. Diddy for example. Hes one of these. He has his own fucking clothing line for crying out loud. Thats prly making millons there. Another example is Lars Ulrich *er* Metallica. There in there 40s now right? That gives them 30-40 years left before they die, if theyre lucky) before they croak. Hell, thye have so many fucking cdsis at is. If ne1 downloaded each and every song by them, then I congratulate you for your patience.
Now the less-known bands, such as Suicide Machines for example, arent making much money. Yet, by downloading a song or two of theres of the internet cauz uve heard of them, youll most likely go out and buy there 7.00 cd. Thats good for them.
The RIAA need something better to do. John freakin McCain said that the RIAA are becoming communists (not really communists, but u get the picture). He says that if file sharers arent making a profit off of it, then theyre ok.
New sueing the poor family of a 12 year old who doesnt have enough money to buy a cd is down right ridiculous. Yes, she got caught, and they need to pay the fine, but 250,00 (ithink)!? Come on guys. Whos the leader of the RIAA whos in full support of this by the way? He should meet Ed Markey and play 2-man Russian Roulette together with a loaded gun.
This is just my opinion. -

Latest news "72 year old lady sued by RIAA" for having over 1,000 songs. She then found out that it was a false assumption. Her PC she owns is run on MAc, which can not run any downloading programs (from what research is saying from the news thing) and that the PC had rap songs and techno "Old ladies do not listen to rap"
She is counter sueing for $1.5 million for like 5 different charges agianst the RIAA such as "False accusations"
The RIAA have been found that they are using fualty searching software.
They also are sueing at the boarderline of 1,000+ songs.
The RIAA needs updated software, not fualty, meaning they must have sued half the people by assumption falsly at that. -

They're greedy, power-hungry whores, and that's why they're established and hated and are going to fall like Standard Oil Company did, because once they've lost they won't be able to get it all back again because the mistrust will drive artists and companies away. -

she's counter sueing?
well well well, looks like RIAA is going to be packing their bags right about now... -

Yes, and Hopefully many more who were sued will follow by researching to find if they were falsly accused.she's counter sueing?

The line between sueing and not getting sued for file sharing is 1,000 files.
Ways to get around it would be deleting "Shared Files" folder and downloads , then switch the files from original location to an unlabled folder or something.
KAzaa members can't do this but Winmx and Morpheus members can select "Not to share files"
Morpheus and Earth station 5 , also make use of a "Fractionist program" which when doanloading you get parts of the file sent at a time, and it appears as 1 file on your PC. to avoid getting detected, also Morpheus offers a "No Spyware" policy which means they can't track you easy. -

KAzaa members can't do this
Yes they can. All you have to do is move the files out of the shared folder. It will not upload then. Easy as that.

You can't remove the "Share folder" though. Why Kazaa did this I don't know but its pointless. -
Turtleman Offline
Yeah but it's not that hard just to move the stuff out of the folder.. And they did this because they reestablishing the term we learned a long time ago.."Recieve and share" So yeah...

Kazaa has a button you can check to not allow filesharing. It's under Options somewhere.
