Welcome to the Disney Journey; Nevada offcial thread. The problem with WBSR isn't fixed, and will never be it seems, so I'll shoot a 2nd try at a disney park. The earlier screenshots are from earlier stages, and HAVE been changed. I promise, this WILL get completed, I bet you guys are tired of hearing, "I AM going to finish this", but I promise, I will this one. The one thing that will hold me back from finishing this quickly is the architechture. I have NEVER done architechture like this before, and I will need awhile to get used to it. NO, I am not copying Meretrix's "Tilted Acres", but it may seem like it. REMEMBER, I don't like to copy, But I like to get inspirarion alot. Now for the park info:

    <180x180/1% done>

    Themes:
CenturyValley: Really, it is TommorrowLand, but I wanted to use a different land, "TommorrowLand" just doesn't fit my style so much.

FantasyLand: THis is going to be a challenge for me, I am used to building "realistic" buildings, and this WILL be a hard challenge, but it WILL be fun.

ToonVillage: Another different name, I am guessing all of you can guessthe real name, so... no comment.

Adventureland: Anothe... wait... nevermind. I will have fun with tis section, I love doing jungles, and mayan temples, so this will be a sinch.

Fronteirland: My favorite. I am doing this section first, I have experience with Western scenery, so this will be simple.

    E-Ticket Rides:
    Big Thunder Mountain
Indaina Jones and the Haunted forest
    Pirates of the Carribean
    Mission: Space
    Space Mountain
    Nemo's Swim Coaster
    Mickey's Wild Car Adventure

It's not much but if that style is extended through the park I might acctually pay attention to it...

Looks like a good start ,
    My tips:
    Develope it more
    Keep a constant disney feel
study tilted acres(for help if need be ;) )
don't over use doors like in wbsr.

do that and this should turn out great :D .

Too influenced by Tilted Acres. Almost like a copy of it.
  • Meretrix%s's Photo
That entry plaza looks NOTHING like Tilted Acres. There's a lot more color in that screen. Am I missing something?

Looks nice by the way. I'm not sure about the gargoyles at the bottom of the plaza, but maybe this is a "darker" Disney park?

Anyway, looking forward to seeing how this shapes up.

Well look at the name to see why the colors are like that cause it is the Big Apple i.e. new york so hte entrance and entrance plaza should feel like it is disney in New York.
But your right it looks nothing like Tilted Acers and never probably will be.

O Austin, nice logo :) but one suggustion, put some like New York buildings in the back of the logo so it looks like it is in New York

About the logo, I did, but it made it look fugly...

Haha... It's WW isn't it? The Georgian rooves gave it away.

    Too influenced by Tilted Acres.

I agree, the influence is TOO prominent. Roofs, balconies, porches, etc. are too much like DTA...

And (IMO) the New York theme is a lame and shitty theme (see California Adventure for a total city/state-based letdown)... especially when the Disney moniker is tacked on there, but to each his own.

I really like those colours, so it's a thumbs up.
I have no idea about the realism of it all, so that's not an issue. Go for it.

    Disney Journey Official Update

The trackwork for Big Thunder Mountain Mines roller coaster has been completed. Our construction workers are now working hard on the theming right this moment. Testing HAS been completed, and the ride seems safe. After the tragedy at Disneyland, California, the ride will continue testing, just in case. Plaza is still not finished, but WILL promise to keep the 'New York' feel. Space mountain blueprint is finished, and track for the rolle coasters have been layed out on the DJ; BA site.

Thank you for taking your time and reading this update.

sounds cool, but please post screens next time if possible.

Another Croky rip-off... (not that I've done that before... ;))

Aside from the fact that the no-picture update doesn't fly with me, the only reason I am posting out of curiosity as to how the 'Journey into the Big Apple' name fits in with Space Mountain and BTMRR...

It's rather difficult to mish-mash the Magic Kingdom with a state-themed park...

Good idea, but why does it have to be WW? I live in New York, and those colors have nothing at all to do with the big apple. In all my life in NY, I have never seen a building with any red or that greenish color in them, but they look very disney. So you have a choice, go more with Disney and stick with those colors, or go more with the big apple, and use more grey and black. I like that archy tho, but it is a very similar style to that of tilted acres.

BTW for anyone who cares and lives or visited Brooklyn, Disney was at one point going to buy Coney Island and make it into a Disney Park, but it fell through.

First: Disney doesn't need a "Big City" park, if you want to do this i will suggest a few things.

    1. Use what New York was built on and is about, diversity. You can completely meld that theme into a "Disney" style park. Examples; Four Corners, Statue of Liberty, the Bronx, and Broadway. There are so many underlying themes in new york alone that it would be a shame to not exploit them.

    2. I don't know if the name you chose for Indiana Jones will really fit the bill, Haunted Forest? what the hell is Indie doing in a haunted forrest? He is an archeologist not a bird watcher. Maybe you could do "Indiana Jones and Al Capone's Vault".

And (IMO) the New York theme is a lame and shitty theme (see California Adventure for a total city/state-based letdown

I am going to have to disagree, i just got back from there and i think it's a wonderfull park! It has gotten a little better every year since it opened, and with Tower of Terror opening next year, it will finally be appreciated.

I just changed the name to Disney Journey: Nevada, I'll try to work out some more names soon... So if someone could get rid of the description and change he title, thanks...

Apparently not many know of the planned Disneyland version of Epcot that was to sit in DCA's spot. If you compare the two, DCA is just terrible. To go from a multi-billion dollar Epcot-remake to a budget-cut California-themed park IS a shitty trade.

I went to DCA in July and I DID like it, Lord knows it is a hell of a lot better than Six Flags parks, but it just isn't up to Disney par, theming and ride wise. With the nostalgiac Disneyland just next door, you would have thought they could have come up with something better suited for a neighbor like that. When put up against the big boy Disney monster parks, it is just a pathetic comparision. And althought Tower of Terror will help a little, they are FAR from out of the hole. Just reading about what DCA could have been makes the whole park a downer for me.

No one knows because it was never going to happen. I assume your speaking of "WestCot" which in reality never got past the preconcept stage. There was going to be a DisneySea park built down by Long Beach. There are many concept schetches which look very familier (Tokyo DisneySea) but that plan was scrapped in favor of DCA. Although i would have loved a DisneySea, it just wasn't possible, but DCA is more than an adequate substitute. I get sick of hearing the DCA is not as good as Disneyland, why do you think that is? Could it be they didn't want to upstage the grand daddy of them all? I guess you have to apreciate what you have.
