that actually makes more sense, Bane was not connected to the mainframe, and thats why the machines couldn't use him to delete Smith, but Neo was, thanks to our big black Zordon entity, good job Adix.

Wait, did you just compare matrix revolutions to power rangers?
  • Physco%s's Photo

Neo is connected to the machine mainframe. Smith takes Neo. Smith is now part Neo, and therefore connected to the machine mainframe. All the smiths are connected in the Matrix, but not to the real world. Therefore, because Smith is once again connected directly to the mainframe, he can be deleted... and he is.

Zion is saved, everyone's happy, the Last Exile makes us a nice sunrise.

That's the best soluion I've heard yet

Wait, did you just compare matrix revolutions to power rangers?

you know you thought of Zordon when you saw that big face dude, he looked exactly like him.
  • v1perz%s's Photo
ok, ok, ill admit it. I had a childhood memory of that talking white face as soon as that machine dude talked. He sounded exactly like zordon. Looked like him too...

This was a rather hard movie to decipher its meaning, their is clearly a much bigger meaning than just destroy the robots. and obviously it is impossible to destory the machines.

In my opinion when the Architect says "ofcourse we'll free those who want out" i thought want out? wait a second... does that mean the people in Zion are not fully awake yet.

also with man freed from pursecution and man freed to go into the Matrix to recruit more people it would only be a matter of time until the Machine's oculd not keep up with the people constantly awakening. and the war would continue on.

in my opinion Neo was nothing very important, he makes a de facto alliance with the machine's to stop Smith killing both of them, mereley, Neo was a virus fighter and Smith was the virus himself (unlike what he said in the first movie ;) "constantly moving and taking over resources until their out") with Neo jacked into the machine world and Smith a rogue agent, once Neo was taken over the machine's could than process a deletion of all Smith's and in return to free the humans.

Therefore, no real winning of the war happened, just a cease-fire in fact the machine's would always win. soft flesh can't beat titanium.

the entire point of freeing humanity is dead at the end, the Matrix remains and people remain in the dream-world living "life" and feeding the machine's power. the machine's won the war, and the little dip shit area of Zion is all thats left.

remember when the Renassance lady says "who could say the machines who were endowed with the very spirit of man didi'nt deserve a fair trial" the machine's see themselves with a purpose to life simply because of their higher AI.

anyways this is all confusing but maybe this mad some sort of sense.

well i haven´t read through the topic, but i saw the movie saturday.

it was a major let down, in my opinion. The 1st matrix was awesome. It had all the right elements for an SF film. The second one went with the very similiar story line which didn´t add much and just a whole dosis of action. The third movie is *really* soft in the beginning. Not that i hate soft that much in a movie, but its a frickin´ SF film. All the emotional and/or love scenes were very out of place in my opinion. Great fights like in the 1st weren´t there (like the discovery of his ´abilities´ nor like the second. The "grand finale" was quite lame. Maybe they are just too powerful? Anyways, my thoughts.

Saw it, liked it. (coming from someone who strongly dislikes Reloaded).

I'll just do pro's and cons

    Con's
    - Neo and Trinity's "acting"
    - SLOW beginning
    - Wasn't a great fan of new Oracle actor
    - Zion Siege... it was just too long and repetitive.

    Pro's
    - Agent Smith... a great character. Everything he said here was gold.
    - The imagery on the Earth's surface (human fields, the Deus Ex Machina... yeah, that's his name)
    - Monica Belluci's tits
    - The Superbrawl
    - Don Davis' stirring score (especially Neodammerung)
    - The ending... don't know why, but I loved it. Even despite the obvious christian symbolism.

Adds up to a pretty strong ***/****

    The Matrix ***.5/****
    Reloaded **/****
    Revolutions ***/****

A good ending to a dissapointing trilogy, and the beginning of a stretch to make any fan of epic moviemaking drool.

    Revolutions
Master & Commander: The Far Side of the World
    The Last Samurai
    The Return of the King
    Cold Mountain
The Alamo (not anymore... it was pushed back to April. I've heard it's terrible)

I heard today that the actor who plays smith (hugo weaving) is really a blackbelt in karate, which is why he did so good in the final fight scene. He was a really good actor for smith.

Once you understand the ending to this movie it gets a lot better, tho it took me 2 times watching it to understand it...

i can say for a fact that you did not understand the movie. 5 years from now, people will still be coming up with stuff.

for example, explain to me who seraph was. The merovingian? I beleive that Seraph refers to Seraphim...an angel, and used to work for the merovingian.

Whats with Sati? What, you don't know? You didn't understand it.

With that said, theres a hella lotta stuff one could ponder.
  • v1perz%s's Photo
I never said i understood the whole movie.

Seraph was the protector of the oracle, thats abou all i understand about him.

I dunno who the merovingian is, only that he is like the crimelord of the matrix, smuggling programs in and out and such.

Sati was the last exile, dunno what that means.

As you can see, i didn't understand the movie, just why the ending happened, which is all i claimed to understand in the first place, it being the ending, not the movie overall.

especially the ending, with the oracle in the architect and the little girl, "did you do that?" "yes, for Neo"

so the little girl made the sunset? does she have some power over the Matrix? Is she some sort of other "one"?

Wouldn't that girl just be the program that controlled the way the sun rises and falls? Didn't the Oracle tell Neo there is a program that controls almost everything like the way the sun sets/fall...bird patterns...blah blah blah.... in Matrix Reloaded...

    Hyperion

Also notice, in the whole movie, she always said either "Good Morning", or "Good Afternoon", referring to the sun.

With that said, theres a hella lotta stuff one could ponder.

Seraph could be a number of things... There is a thought that Seraph is the One that directly preceded Neo. This is sort of backed up when the bouncer at Club Hel says "Look, he's wingless", referring to him as a fallen angel, or one who gave up his power (as the One normally does when reinserting themselves into the source to balance the equation). There is also a thought that he used to work for the Merovignian, but that doesn't make much sense.

Sati is originally a program without a purpose. Her "parents" are actually real live machines jacked into the Matrix, not programs. She however, is a program. Programs without a purpose get deleted, that's why she was being smuggled in and that's why she was staying with the Oracle. It appears that she got a purpose somewhere at the end but it is never explained.

The Wachowski's haven't layered the film all THAT well... most of the questions and indecision about characters and meanings is simply because they were being vague for the sake of it.
  • Corkscrewed%s's Photo
Finally saw it tonight and definitely liked it. It's not a great legendary movie, but it's definitely in depth, and I admire the Wachowski's devotion to their vision. It does make a lot of Reloaded make sense, and it opens the way for countless modes of discussion into meanings, etc... which is what many great movies actually do.

That said, I still wish I knew what happened to the Frenchman (I'm not gonna even try to spell his name), since he seemed to be the other major power in the film.

Reading about all these theories, I feel inclined to believe the Oracle is God, the Architect the Devil, Neo a pawn, and the whole Neo plugged into mainframe allowing deletion of Smith theory. Aero21 seems to have it down.

    Thanks for the explanations! :)

The Architect and The Oracle are both "God"... The Merovingian was the devil. Obvious enough by how he controls the "vampires, ghosts, etc" and the fact that his club is called "Club Hell".

Like I said, none of this is exactly deep.
