General Chat / Shrek 2

I saw the movie yesterday and it's shot up to my favorite movie of the year. Like Toy Story 2, this was one sequel that was just as good as the original, if not better. The comedy was in full force, and animation excellent, and the story fun. The first half was a bit laggy, but the ending more than packed a punch. Puss in Boots was classic, and the Mission: Impossible style escape scene was hilarious. The crowd was practically crying though their laughter throughout the final half hour.

Great great movie, and it's definitely worth the hype IMO. I'd totally recomment seeing it!

"Do I look different? Do I look different?
"You still look like an ass to me."

I thought the first one sucked. I laughed once. I doubt this one will be much better.

Aw, man. I just got back from seeing it. I have never laughed so hard in my life. When it was revealed that Pinocchio was wearing a thong, I laughed so hard I cried. This movie definately surpasses the original, and from the sound of it, the entire theater agreed.

There were some funny parts, but i thought the story was lacking, and was a little forced...still all in all, it was pretty good...and dare i say it, the fairy godmother looked kinda hot..

ya know what? i would'nt mind seeing the fairy characters in there own movies. the feel of the entire fair world is good to use. just by making fun of all the other characters.

Puss N Boots was helerious, especially the Cops parady.

who would rather be minime? a bunch of tear drops or a frog?
Fairy Godmother i liked too, simply the whole 1-800 sorta dealy was funny.

"Oh i'll be your true love!" "Me too!" "ahh.... i'll be true enough...."

It was very good, but dissapointing imo. Shrek was a masterpiece and one of the best of 2001, but this one really didn't live up. The problem is the story is really rather weak for the first 2/3 of the film and really seems to only exist to set up the jokes. It wasn't like that in the original. I also didn't think a family drama along the lines of "Look Who's Coming to Dinner" or "Meet the Parents" really fit the film well. Most of the new human characters really weren't that interesting either, the Fairy Godmother really was just dull.

Now, I've probably spent enough time complaining about what's wrong, there is still alot more right. The movie is hilarious, maybe more so than the first. The climax is some of the best filmmaking of the yea... starting with the "KNIGHTS" spoof, the film turned to pure gold. Everything after that was perfect, including the "Holding out for a Hero!" action finale. Puss in Boots was perfectly created and cast. Antonio Banderas is probably this year's Ellen Degeneres, only Puss doesn't have the emotional core like Dory did. However, I really think they ought to do a Puss in Boots spinoff :).

A give it a ***/****... no doubt it's very good (but ultimately very dissapointing for me), but it's lacking that heart and feeling of magic that existed in the first one.

    i really enjoyed the movie.
i went into knowing that i wasn't going to compare it to the first one, which i didn't like very much, because of a myriad of reasons.

anyways. the movie was beautiful. particle affects have been taken to the next level. lighting was immense. the motion bothered me but it added to the not-so-real effect the movie was trying to achieve.

the charecters were a+ material again. puss-in-boots was the best. i want a cat like that.
donkey was great. and omg, the muffin man and pinochio, the best people ever.

over all it was a great movie i would give it ***/****, the three only because it dragged a bit in the start.

go see it, it's worth it.

I just saw the movie about 20 minutes ago.
It surpasses the first by far. I loved the COPS spin-off.
And Puss 'n Boots brought the whole movie together.

    Hilarious stuff.

Only a few shows such as Spongebob and some other cartoons on there.
Other than that I don't watch it much, plus when you only have cable and not somthing like a dish or digital cable, there isn't much to watch to begin with. Really I don't see the problem is if I watch it or not but I don't watch that Nick Jr. shit, if I did you could come over here and punch me in the face.

Yeah, cable sucks, 60 channels just aren't enough, makes you go watch some juvenile shit like Nickelodeon or whatever.
