Redd or Dead already did the vamppire thing....and the serial killer thing (which was VERY cool, albeit very poorly received....after all, it's not every day that models come down a runway with their clothes dripping in fake(?) blood, and swinging axes).....By taking the leap, I meant striving for something that defies description....something only Galliano could pull off....this collection you've just shown looks like it could have been done by any pretentious fashionista...even Alexander McQueen. -

deanosrs, fashion is expression. Fashion, specifically Haute Couture, is about excess, you dont NEED earrings the size of saucers, but if you want to stand out and have the money you can.
BTW, Jacko Shanty, the earrings are connected to her ears but the weight of the earrings are supported by a string that works like a headband. -

Where do I see this Redd or Dead collection? Lerage.com doesn't have it and searching Google turns up crap about that loser Red Foxx.Redd or Dead already did the vamppire thing....and the serial killer thing (which was VERY cool, albeit very poorly received....after all, it's not every day that models come down a runway with their clothes dripping in fake(?) blood, and swinging axes).....By taking the leap, I meant striving for something that defies description....something only Galliano could pull off....this collection you've just shown looks like it could have been done by any pretentious fashionista...even Alexander McQueen.
What you have to realize is that Galliano said that even in his Couture he had to have a bit of commerciality to it. I really thing he could have done better, but I love this collection. I personally like whimsy, I dont know about you. But I love Dior, Galliano (esp the new Mens Couture), Gaultier, LaCroix, Valentino, McQueen, Givenchy. I cant stand Ralph Rucci (although I get it), Chanel, Yohji Yamamoto. Now that's couture I could do without, what's the purpose of the couture line when it looks like the overflow of your ready to wear *Glares at Chanel*?
What do you mean by defies description? Like this peice? -

yes, that's much more interesting to me...
as for the Red or Dead stuff, the serial killer stuff was done about 12 years ago, no ...longer....15 years ago (I was a sophomore in college and I did a review of that collection, much to the shagrin of my fashion illustration teacher...she was WAY to conservative to be teaching at Parsons) -

I wasn't saying or thinking that.dragonfly - this is basic chat. don't even think about expecting people to only discuss things you want to discuss.
I was trying to say that maybe he would get more "happy" posters and replies if he discussed this in a fashion forum website. -

Wouldn't it be easier to just post a link instead of imaging 50 pics directly to the forum? -

This is actually the best thing he has shown us on the forums. Just be happy it's not Madonna. -

Couture as an industry, is all about "ideas", that eventually get pared down into wearable clothing. It's a mood, a feeling. Very seldom will you see anything from a couture runway, on anyone other than a model (the exception being any celebrity at any award show).
That whole QE look was actually just done by several LA designers as T-Shirts (using the "crests" as appliques) at Fred Segal. They more than likely took inspiration from this show (remember that they've got inside knowledge of these looks months before the rest of us). -

The QE/Rokoko is going to be a hot style, Im still intrigued about how they would make it wearable yet still retain the QE/Rokoko excess.Couture as an industry, is all about "ideas", that eventually get pared down into wearable clothing. I NEED one of those shirts.
