Let's hope it doesnt shut down because then all the n00bs (eg DanTodd) from rct2.com will migrate over here. bad news.

I get the impression that it's more of a problem with their host as opposed to the boards or site.  For about the past year, they have seemed to go down about every two/three months with problems that originate with their host server, not directly with the site's software/programming.  Just my observation though....

We've been through that. At least twice. And some of them are now contributing members to the community...

As for RCT2.com being down, and how the admins and stuff, and blah... it's not like they WANT it to be down. We're mostly at the mercy of our hosts... hell, I noticed that Hostrocket's administration stuff (FTP/ControlPanel) go down for more than half an hour every night, around 2-4 AM central time. Sometimes the hosts need to take stuff down to keep it running better... more power to them.

And sometimes Bob the intern just pushes the wrong button. Notice those strange MySQL errors that we get every so often for about 5 minutes? "Looks like the SQL server is fucked up again."

For real though... I just hope they don't permanently close. If they were to do that, NE would have a n00b infestation.

I'm sure they will be back up in time. In the meantime, let's all try to be civilized to anyone who comes over from there. It's great to see MamaBear and Fisherman over here and I would like to welcome anyone else who makes the leap (either temporarily or permanently).

LOL, for me it was not because of the downtime. Actually, the site wasn't down for me at all.......I just thought it was time I registered here......
BTW, sort of "refreshing" being a noob again!

MachChunk. Think about it. The admins have control over the site. Of course they (including me) do, but that doesn't mean they don't have host problems. The host has control over the site in essence, and host problems have nothing to do with fault of the admins (apart from the choosing of the host)

Actually...I just saw Meretrix and Mad Dawg's Disney projects and I thought I'd share my latest Victorian stuff and Disney stuff with you all...but I haven't made any sort of leap per se...I hadn't been over here much because of all the swearing and stuff...it's gets annoying really quickly for me. But this site definitely has some of the BEST park-makers on the net. I don't mean anything bad by this post...I promise. I'm not trying to start any trouble or anything like that. But just so ya know...I did check that little box when I registered that said we can't swear or use questionable talk in our posts...so I won't...and I hope no one else does in a post that I start at least.
