You flatter me so, ste ;) It's so frustrating! If only we lived together then it wouldn't be a problem with the same computer! I feel for you with the rct2 problems...sounds like you've got it worse, though! I'd have thought you'd have it all sorted out over there, what with the bigger house and city life and stuff. Damn I swore personal stuff wouldn't get in the way of NE stuff :( It's so fucking hard, though.

GAH. ANYWAY. So yes. I don't have pkcroof.dat i'm afraid...maybe some scenery peeps can help you out. I've been trying to track down a ride, whcih I think might be on the bonanza site but i've been d/ling and nothing's been working and i'm losing patience. Also, it seems i'm missing some scenery from the game that isn't exporting properly or something - mpathbrwn.dat? I dunno. It's weird.

I'm wondering if it's even worth the effort.

Hey, life with mum aint so great. Me and Tom hardly get anything bought for us anymore. We've been stuck with this crap computer for ages now.
Mum's getting a new job though so hopefully she'll think about getting a new computer as she'll have to do more work at home on the computer too.
At least your rct2 kinda works.

Hopefully all the rct2 guys can help us and all the others out.

Yeah right it's not too great! Think about what we've got! I still can't believe what happened over the fucking court case! I have no idea what dad's up to half the time, especially when he's been out drinking or whatever. It's so stupid, and I just think what you've got with mum and it makes me fucking sick. I've never really had a problem with you, ste, but sometimes you try and act the fucking victim all the time and it's just lies all the way through!
  • Twisted%s's Photo
We may have it better than you but it's not paradise like you make it out to be. There are 2 of us aswell. Just try and visit when mum isn't expecting it, she's not who you think she is.

Ah forget it this isn't the place.
  • mantis%s's Photo
This isn't the place? I'd actually rather have it out here because it's been shit discussing everything so falsely in private. It's like you don't want to ruin some illusion you've built up inside your head. We're not a family any more, you know. You don't realise how lucky you've been getting to stay with mum - god knows what you've got against her now...you always sided with dad but we all know he's incapable of looking after us. It's me that just gets stuck on his own. It's no wonder i've escaped to this world because the real one is really shit!
  • Twisted%s's Photo
Ah come on, don't go through all this shit here. It doesn't help at all.
  • mantis%s's Photo
You keep saying that but it doesn't make sense because wherever it happens, it still happens, doesn't it? Whatever.

I finally got the park open.

I found out about that "bogus game" meretrix was talking about. The first time I downloaded the park I never got it, so I didn't know what the hell he was talking about. All I had to do was download the park again.

So, those of you having trouble with scenery, see if you have the "bogus game" file. If not, try downloading the park again. If you got it, open it. You'll then have all of the scenery needed, like Meretrix said. Thats what I did. I hope that made sense....

The park, on the other hand was nice, but it never amazed me. The architecture was solid and had great facades which set a nice disney atmosphere. The one thing I didn't like was the landscaping. Thats what ruined the feel for me. The jagged rocks were way to random in most places and looked very rushed. But overall, great park Meretrix.

Oh shit I finally got it to work. I did what Kevin said and downloaded it again. It seems the first time I downloaded it, it didn't come with the"bogus game."

I actually liked. It may not be as good as DTA but it still had the Disney feel to it. The facades were wonderful, but the landscaping wasn't the best. Great job Meretrix. Definately deserves Spotlight IMO.

    anybody know what HBRDBOAT is?

It came with the zip. Just move it to your Object Data folder.

Well, I thoroughly enjoyed looking at the park. The detail was incredibly well done and the Disney atmosphere really shone out throughout the entire park. However, there was one thing that in my opinion tripped this park up a bit. The custom scenery was so dominant that I found it difficult to find actual original RCT2 scenery pieces/rides, and I found all the custom scenery to look a little cheesy at times. There was so little content actually from the original RCT2 that I think this qualifies as the first RCT 2 1/2 spotlight :p

I have to laugh at the "the rocks looked rushed" part of everyone's posts....those damn rocks took longer than most of the buildings in the park.

And nate....you can write your actual thoughts, as what you wrote in your post sounded really condescending and bitchy. If you didn't like the park for landscaping reasons, give examples. If you didn't like it for other reasons, give examples. What you wrote sounded more like an admonition ("You really need to work on it. I mean it.".....erm....OK)

Toon, I am sorry you found it disappointing. Even more, I am confused at how the park looks rushed. Oh well, again...can't please everyone.

    Well, as requested:

Well, after finally getting the park to work, I thought it was okay. The standout aspects were the architecture, which was absolutly stunning and the castle (Best RCT Disney center piece yet). And the things I didn't like, the number of useless and really ugly custom rides and scenary. Really Meretix, some of those rides are just sooo ugly, why you downloaded them I'll never know. I couldn't helping thinking to myself "get some taste." The rides were uninspiring, esspecially the E-Ticket Disney attractions such as your Indiana Jones ride, Tarzan, Bald Mountain to name a few. Speaking of Bald Mountain, excuse me when I say, "Worst Landscaping Ever" (By "ever," I don't just mean of spotlights, I mean of all the hundreds of parks that I've seen, that is the worst). That's another thing that dragged the park down, the landscaping was disastorus. The poor tree selection and placement didn't help things either. As for my favorite area, "Main Street U.S.A.", without a doubt, and "Discovery Bay" was a distant second (some of the buildings were too large and overpowering). Yet, with all it's faults, as I said, I thought it was okay. You did accomplish the Disney atmosphere, the most difficult part of a Disney park, and that is probably what made me stamp the park with the "okay" label. It was dissapointing, to say the least, but if you work on your rides, landscaping and tree placement/selection, I'm sure you'll make a wonderful park in the near future.

And about the previous post, I wasn't trying to sound like that, so I appologize. Personally I thought it was much nicer than the above.
  • Meretrix%s's Photo
Yes I was a sucker for any ride that was "new", and once I saw them in action, you'll notice that I didn't use many (The Nightmare before X-Mas stuff being the exception).

As for Bald Mountain, I have to stand my ground here, and ask everyone....did you see the movie....big black mountain on fire....end of story. An experiment....personally I think it would've been cool to ride, but whatever.

Other comments, taken in, appreciated. It just comes down to a matter of personal aesthetics I guess.

    Thanks for responding.

Meretrix, it's hard to explain what I mean by 'looks rushed'. Perhaps it was just the park didn't come together as a whole the way I thought TA did. Therefore rushed may not be the term I was looking for. Perhaps not as well planned or poorly organized? I really don't know what to say. For my money you still have the best Disney park ever made on your resume. I guess I was hoping this would build on that. There were still lots of things to love (ie. the broomstick statue), but on the whole I just never got immersed in what you built here. That's the magic it was lacking. It just never sucked me in as I was hoping it would. It's hard to explain why.

Natelox put just about everything I thought about it. I mean, ya it was good, but it wasn't as great as it was hyped up to be. The main thing i hated was the agrabah coaster, indy, bald, the flat rides used, and the surrounding landscaping of the park.

I help out a little, one of the biggest dissappointments I had was that the inside of ride buildings weren't themed like they were in TA. Of course, this park is good as itself, but because you, Meretrix, are the mastermind behind TA, this doesn't live up to have your previous park's value. Not saying that this is something to aim for, but did you even reach the sprite limit in this one? It seemed with TA that you were full of inspiration, always having a new idea and that you imagined yourself being at the park as you built it. Nothing got old in TA, even with 90% of the architecture being facade-chitecture. The rides were well thought out for the most part, and the recreations were fantastic. Maybe the hard part about building Phantasia was that you used up most of your ideas, but the good part if anything being that you didn't resort to repeating yourself by say building something exactly like space mountain and calling it something different, although the colors of Discovery Bay did seem a little familiar. I did not get what a B&M was doing in a disney park, seeing as they do not suit disney's needs for rides other than high capacity. Disney usually opts for a long ride with many blocks for high dispatch times and capacity, yet nothing to intense for the young ones with few exceptions, but certainly not B&M. The last thing I have to say about this looking rushed is the space filling overly-jagged rocks with the wierd foliage, and the downsizing of what appeared was going to be a hotel into a smaller plaza off to the right of the entrance. I'm glad you got rid of all those unnecessary buildings from your previously released unfinished version, even though their removal is also a sign that this was rushed, that you didn't want to take the time to decorate them.

Anyway, you say that your retiring (again) because you cannot top this, when really it is that maybe you've maxed out on your disney style. You should try something different, I've always though that the Twilight Shores or whatever it was called screens looked better than Phantasia.
