I'm talking about the normal RCT standard, and yes, you are correct. Yet, I still would have liked to have seen a woodie. :p

I don't get why everyone is saying the Hammer Forge area is like Gotheburg. Other than the fact that he used blue and red duellers in a gray castle area, it isn't really like that park.
But apparently no one can use a gray castle theme with duellers, or else it's a ripoff.

^ I gotta agree there. If you look closely, the architecture is far from copied IMHO.

Heck, if you say this is, then Gothburg was as well, and I really liked Gothburg and thought it to be great and not copied.

For the record haveing followed the progess of both parks, Chris did not even know about gotheberg when he stared.

I don't think Chris was ever directly accused of copying Gotheburg. Its just how the RCT community works. If someone builds something thats considered new, fresh and innovative and then something else from someone else comes along that is similar, people just automatically consider that a breach or infringement of what has already been done. I pointed out similarities between Gotheburg and Hammer Forge, but never accused Chris of copying. Therefore imo, the only drawback of Hammer Forge was a little less innovation I felt were behind the aesethics of the area, not that the area sucked because it looked like Gotheburg.

Last time I checked, there were no copyrights in RCT parks. If anything, chris felt inspired to build an area similar to Gotheburg and I'm sure slob is honored by that.

Everything anyone creates is automatically covered by intellectual property laws from the moment of creation. A registed copyright is the government saying that you made it, and when, and that's it. It makes copyright cases much easier, but it isn't essential.

Not that it matters, really, as there was no DIRECT plagarism.

I mean, there are at least 5 or 6 companies who build Inverted rollercoaster, although then idea was created, and patented, by B&M. They did this because they were able to make there own, unique, variation on the basic idea. Same thing.

Besides, I think "castle" is enough of a standard theme for it to be considered public domain, anyways.

Thank god there are no copyrights or we'd still be building crappy little scenario parks while guys like Joe Holland and Greg Reese raked in the profits.

Yeah, but Posix is a dick, so bad example.

    i ask a question now...

though it may seem bitter, it's not meant to be.

...if you replace all the guest coasters in the park with average ones... would this still be considered spotlight worthy?

If not, then "guest" probably isn't the right word, but "partner" just might be.

    Just some food for thought.

^Wait? Wouldn't that be Ports of Magia?

Sorry. I couldn't resist. No hard feelings, Artist, you did deserve the spotlight and I really enjoyed it.

You also had some great hacks, like on a 3 tile section, hacking a 2 tile sign over a different one to give the appearance of a three tile sign.  Great little hack that I've never thought of or noticed in any park.

    Look harder... ;)

After I finally found my RCT2 disk, I decided to take a look at this.....

    Pros:
    - Cutlass is a great coaster, nice pacing and great interaction with the theming and landscape. Good name as well. Only issue with Cutlass is that it cant live up to Eversio Lemuria, and probably no launched B&M will.
    - New Breed is ASTOUNDING! I love the Intamin mini coaster style and the pacing and layout is tremendous. Coloring could use some work, but its something I am willing to get past. Great coaster and great placement of airtime hills.
    - Theming in the Dinosaur area is good for what its suppose to be (A imitation of Jurassic Park). Great use of wooden stilts.
    - Pirate themed area is good in theory, except the red color really irks me. I was looking for more of a dull brownish atmosphere.
    - The hotel is marginally good, its not spectacular though.\
    - Stairs going underwater into the pool, nice touch.
    - Gaia is a nice themed area.

Cons (Now I am really gonna get into here, becase there are some SERIOUS issues with this park)
    - First off, knowing that IOA has spawned such a ridiculous number of copies, why bother using it a remaking it? 4 corner, lake, blah. Its been done before.
    - The Dinosaur Section. I have seen Jurassic park done too many times. You might as well have CALLED it Jurassic park instead of the land before time. If this really was the "Land before time," then wouldn't it be set 64 millions years ago? Why not try and make this a naturalistic habitat for dinosaurs instead of a manmade manufactured theme park with shops and restaurants??
    - The hotel. Now, I like the placement. Its very interesting sitting in the center of the park....but there is one thing I dont understand. You place it in the park, which means that inorder to get to it....you have to enter the park (I might be assuming wrong tho). That is highly unrealistic as the hotel would be crammed with people and nobody would want to stay there. Make the hotel a separate entity from a theme park.
    - The DUelers. I hate to beat a dead horse, but again creativity is a must. I love it when IOA did it. I got the point when SAC redid them. I thought to myself "WHAT THE HELL" when he RE-used them again. And now i just shake my head when I see these two coasters. First off, dont name them dueling dragons. Name them something else creative. And to add fuel to this fire, you put them in a medieval section! Who has done this before (thinks......). You gotta do something different here. Make dueling flyers, make dueling anythings, but dont make two red and blue inverted coasters and name them dueling dragons.
    - Gaia. Well, specifically the coaster. You alread have a launched B&M. Why add another? Make it a Premier, that would have been more appropriate. Themed area itself is aight though.

Now understand that I think the park is good, very good. But in order for this to be considered a spotlight, I feel that a certain deal of creativity is needed. Too much like IOA, to much like other stuff.

    Cutlass: 85/100
    New Breed: 95/100
    Gaia: 75/100
Dueling Dragons: 80/100 (coasters themselves werent bad actually).

    Pirate Area: 75/100
    Gaia: 85/100
    Land Before Time: 80/100
    Hotel area: 70/100
    Dueling Dragons area: 75/100

    TOTAL SCORE: 77/100.

after the coaster appearing in the cons section, getting ripped to pieces, 80/100 for design still isn't bad :D.

...I love you for saying that. I too, shake my head whenever I see that ride... again and again and again...

to be fair, evil has genuine skill, so yeah, the coasters in this case ARE good, reguardless of thematic failings.

if people like to do them, why not?
because you don't want to see? then don't look.

That only works up to a point, Phil. I agree with you, but he is releasing it at NE, which shows that he wants people to look.

Please...dont blame his lack of creativity on me. Ill still look, it doesnt mean im not tired of looking at it again (for the 5th or 6th time).

OMG. I just had to bump this topic. :D

This park is beautifull, for real.

    And that dueller, INSANELY GOOD.

    Wow...
