Given the competition for 1st and 2nd, I'd vote this one the best of the three. Pity.
Well done for ending h2h with a really shit matchup, whoever made this decision to submit a blank map deserves to come fourth. Karma, is a bitch my ass, grow up and fucking face the facts that you just couldn't face the pressure.
On a lighter note six frags, Kumba, wheres walto and incitties inspired me to finish this park. This is completely dedicated to you guys that actually showed up this season. I would not have finished it any other way without you guys championing your park and making me want to work to make sure you all got third place.
It's not karma that stopped you from winning, it's that the other players and teams were better than you.
J K, honestly don't get yourself agitated with this, you made a brilliant park, and that alone is enough to end H2H6 on a high note. Lowering the tone to make it audible to Kong's aging ears will only end in some sort of huge fall out.
"Karma is bitch" is more directed towards us than anybody else.
Anyway no need to have a "debate"
Well done JK and walto i enjoyed the park.
On the other hand tho, I would've liked that "The Black Hole" idea tho, I think it's kinda funny
Onya mate!
As it is, regardless of what the percentages say, this park honestly was about 91% J_K. His ideas, his layout, his landscaping, his motivation, his encouragement. I was a pretty lousy partner this round, so he deserves almost all the credit for this.
Canes, first off I've got to say you've done a hell of a job ending H2H6. Overall a very enjoyable park, which was just a lot of fun. Some things I liked:
+ There were a lot of fun sculptures in there. They weren't too overwhelming in detail or anything, but they were a lot of fun nonetheless. Especially the fact you keep finding new ones is nice. You often get to see 2 or 3 really detailled ones in parks nowadays, but seeing at least a dozen of decent sculptures is pretty nice for a change.
+ The foliage felt very appropriate. It was just put together really nicely, good choice of plants, good composition etc.
+ I absolutely loved the little area between the Gibraltar and the Poseidon ride. Some very simple stuff, but these small structures and their surroundings just ooze atmosphere. One of the most inspiring bits in H2H6 in my opinion. Whoever did that: Please do something more with this. I can see this becoming a great design or something.
+ Overall, there was just só much in there. Every corner had something new to offer, and every time I turned the map around you had another surprise waiting. Great job on using the space you had as effectively as possible!
Some things I felt could've been done differently:
- Even though the pathing in its current form really works for this mythical area, I can't help but be quite disappointed this wasn't peepable. As beautiful and rich as the map was, it still missed ''action'' as a result of the lack of moving people. Frozen staff can't fix that I fear.
- As good as the foliage was, it lost some of its charm thanks to the landscaping. There were parts where there were a lot of straight dirt walls. I don't know if it was a lack of time/interest, but landscaping ís important. Many people seem to really focus on Archy/ride layouts/possibly even foliage, and then have landscaping come last. I think this park could've been even more impressive if you had properly used quarter tile landblocks, or (and I'm an expert in this, being a replacement) 1k ruins throughout. Might've just made this park a bit more refined.
- I felt like the moving clouds didn't really add anything. The normal clouds were nice, but the contrast between them and the white monorails just didn't really work...
Overall I réálly enjoyed this park. A lot of fun stuff, as most of your parks this season actually. I think this really shows what you guys are good at. The parks aren't extremely refined, the hacks aren't extremely revolutionary, but your parks have been decent, fun parks with good ideas and concepts in them throughout. You just offer viewers a lót to watch per map, and clearly show you guys had fun building it.
Great way to end the season! Hope to see you all keeping this up, and maybe show some more highly enjoyable rct at H2H7!
What I find even more upsetting is that I always thought a black hole would immediately error trap a park. So that's not the case? It really is just a single tile being black? Or does it error trap the park when you try to build objects over it?
All depends on the blackhole I believe. I've had 3 of 'em so far (I know, not much) and they were all different. Some are way more serious than others. Some just mostly look ugly, some completely screw up the park...
J K and walto, great work on this! I'll give a longer review after I've looked at it for a bit more time, but what I've seen so far is awesome!
I have studied Greek and Latin at my school for a couple of years and where I wasn't really interested in translating the stories I did like the stories. Therefore this concept really appealed to me and I have to say that you executed it brilliantly.
Great work and it's an honest shame that this wasn't one of finals parks.
I've never got an error trapper from a black hole. It can be more than 1 square though, and the tile isn't really 'black' in the colour sense, it just looks like a huge glitch.
posix; It's just a glitch where a tile got corrupted. It does not error trap a park and you can even build scenery on that tile; it just will not show up.
The hardest part in my experience in fixing a blackhole is finding the correct blackhole tile. Rowling Versus Tolkien had 2 blackholes, but I luckily found the tiles relatively quick.
Sorry for a few frustrated words along the way guys, it's only because I'm a competitive bastard! Lol. I shouldn't have jumped on the RD's backs for not submitting anything as I agree it was hard to get a park in knowing you weren't able to get your team the gold.
Sorry JK for another no show, I also did my best to endour team on a high note but it was not to be... I talked to you about this the week we where both building our asses off and I respect you for doing the effort for your team and it should be recognised as it is since you've built the best park of the finals. and that's period.
Again we had an error that actually caused a lot of trouble because of where it was located and that on the night of the deadline... I'm actually willing to post screens here so you'll know what we where sending in...
I think everyone would enjoy to see those screens.
Anyway J K, this park was awesome. Despite my tendacy towards realism, this grabbed my attention. I loved the architecture and whilst Demigod isn't my cup of tea, it was still a fun layout to follow. Lots of great ideas in this. The cyclops holding the rock was awesome and all the little roman soldiers were fun to explore. My favourite thing about this was the River Styx. It had a great feel to it and you pulled off the Underworld theme nicely. The way you faded out the map with rocks was very well done too. This was definately one of the better parks this season and I hope you continue to build awesome stuff!
