It's here. It didn't get runner up, but oh well. I'm still really proud of this park. It turned out better than I ever could have hoped, evolving from a small out and back coaster design (note, that lake isn't a space fller, it was made before I decided to build a full park) to a full fledged amusement park. It's not the biggest
or most detailed park at all. It's not meant to be. It's meant to be a realistic traditional park, different from all the mrICE clones out there. There are things like the out & back not being open (due to the off season), or Topple Tower despite being the new ride being closed because the boys at KMG fucked up (well, me). To me that gives a park realism, I think it achieves that.

Anyway, special thanks go to posix, for creating the video, doing the shuttle loop hack, and being all around awesome. artist for making the awesome park logo(s), all four of them. And anyone else who tested the park/gave useful advice.

Well after seeing Posix's video of this, I pulled out LL for the first time in a while to check this out. This is the kind of park that I like. Not cluttered with way to much random track scenery and stuff. It was nice and open which is something I really liked about it. The layouts were very nice and really gave the traditional feel with both woodens. I think my only complaint was that the park itself was very small. For an older style park, I expected there to be a few more midway rides and attractions (although the midway games stalls were a nice touch). The whole park just really didn't take me too long to check out. Still, I really liked the park, which is saying something since I'm not a huge fan of LL. One of the better ones I've seen.

This is very dissapointing. I AM IN LOVE WITH THIS PARK.

    How depressing :(

If an RCT2 park like Ride6 and Splash-0's can get a runner-up I think this should get one for LL. I loved the 2 custon flats. All your coasters had very soild and realistic layouts and I enjoyed them. I think the realistic emptyness hurt you, but I still enjoyed it. Very good amusement park, but this site has always been more in favor of themeparks.

I think this deserved runner-up. The park had some very nice, well thought out ideas. It was ultra-realistic for its time period, i really love the Bobs coaster, out & back design. Paced very well. I liked the custom rides too, the zipper was fantastic. No idea how you hacked that lol.

    Nice park, well done.

i too think runnerup would've been appropriate.
alex, you know my thoughts of this park in and out. i'm looking forward to seeing new work from you.
need to use aceworkbench v1.1 next time though.

I don't have LL anymore so if somebody could show some screens? :)

how about you look at my video?

It had some charm, but not enough for a park from 1920. The architecture was done just as it would be if the park was a theme park, and the only thing signaling that this park was meant to be a classic was the ride choice, although I would have preferred more realism concerning individual rides. I think it only barely deserved runner-up, with the main reason being that the standards are not as high as they used to be, otherwise I would not want it in the same classification with something like Fantastic Wonders.

Wonderful park, yyo. I loved every bit of it, especially the hotel. it's a damn shame this didn't get runner-up, as this deserved it just as much as rash mount or Ville des Fleuves.

    good luck next time.

    My thoughts:

Well the short answer I guess is that I wouldn't make this a runner up. It's a nice little piece of work, maybe on the level of a good Park Wars park, but not one that would win much. It's not the simplicity that is working against it so much as the size. It isn't really a park. It takes up a lot of map space, but looking at what's there, it would be generous I think to call it even 1/4 of a park. There's basically three original coaster designs, one of which is just a simple out and back. There's definately an artistic touch in the placement of flowers and the walkway layouts that should earn this some deserved praise when it gets released, but while simplicity is useful as an exercise, it's not very impressive as a finished product.

The biggest problem I have with this particular style is the total lack of landscaping. Trees and bushes are cleverly placed to divide the space, but then it's all the same flat green space. Again, that could be considered elegant in it's simplicity or it could just be considered boring. I lean more towards calling it elegant, but this is where the lack of size really kills it. If you're going to run the simplicity flag up your flagpole, you've got to make up for the lack of complexity and detail with quantity and variety. Different themed areas with different textures and colors would make the park more impressive as a whole. Wide open spaces can be very beautiful when they are done well as they are here, but they're still open spaces. A small map with a lot of open space means there's precious little content to hold anyone's attention for long. Definately not what's expected even in a runner-up park.

So anyway, I do like the project. It works well enough that I'd like to see something more substantial built in the same style. Something with more themes and a lot more of everything. You don't have to lose the empty spaces, but you do have to lose the enormous space filling lake and a touch more landscaping (as in height variation) would really help too. I'd also suggest a more adventurous approach to architecture. Granted architecture in LL is always going to be simple, but this plays it too safe. You've got the same basic units everywhere arranged in different ways. While that does create continuity, there's a fine line between that and tedium. What are each of these buildings? Why do they exist? Why are they placed where they are? It may just be that they're simply blocks meant to create an aesthetically pleasing composition of space. There's nothing wrong with that endeavor. But what I'm looking for is a park, and that requires a little more personality. Not that the whole art thing can't work. But like I said before, if it's going to work you've really got to amp up the quantity and create not just a pleasing composition but a very impressive one too. Which is probably an even harder task than simply creating a park, but if that's what you want to do, more power to you.

A really quaint park you have there man. Kindof small for my likings but it really captured a nice feel with nice realistic archy and theming. Too bad you didnt make runner up, nice work over all though man.

I loved Topple Tower, it reminds me of... wait a minute...
Seriously yyo, I appreciate it that you used my guide while building that ride, but don't make it a damn rip-off. If you're using it for hacking ideas, fine with me, but please, I didn't write and build that thing so people could copy it one trillion times.

Anyway, charming park. Shame it didn't get runner-up or something.
