Once again we have a Korean Parkmaker grabbing an New Element Accolade as School_Jin nets a Silver park here with his stunning park Yggdrasil. You might remember back in April when FreeRider became the first Korean to gain an official NE release as he managed it not once, but twice in one week with The Island and Holy Ground of the Dragon. It seems he started a trend in the Korean community as now the second ever Korean player sends something in and grabs a New Element Accolade. Read On...

Mid 2009 will go down in ne history as the Korean Invasion. I love the absurdity and fun in freerider's stuff, and this too. This stuff is just fun to watch. The large tree is pretty well done, too.

I'm guessing the White Sphere thing is supposed to be the moon?
  • Louis!%s's Photo
^At first I thought it was some sort of Hot Air Balloon, but then there isnt any basket :p So it's must be the moon, there isnt anything else it could really be.

Whilst this looked great... I didn't really dig it. To me, a design has to be all about the ride, and I just couldn't get into it. It's somewhere in between real and fantasy and doesn't really satisfy either... you can tell from the start when both trains overlap each other as they go up the lift. The pacing is all a bit odd too... sometimes nicely judged, sometimes waaaaay too fast. The ending is a bit weird as the train just flies back into the station. Overall, it looked great and obviously took a ton of time to make it look spectacular, but for me, a Design has to be all about the quality of the ride... and I just didn't like it that much!

Are you aware of the fact that this isn't a design?

I haven't downloaded the park yet, btw. It looks pleasant judging from the screens!

Are you aware of the fact that it doesn't make a bloody difference here?

    I am not.

A design submission should be mostly about the ride indeed, but a spotlight submission like this one about the map as a whole in my opinion, with each component (theming, ideas, ride design) being somewhat judged equally. That's a bloody big difference if you ask me...

It is a great detailed park, but I also think it would be better as a design, same with Nihombasa, because the main centerpiece of the park is the rollercoaster, and there is little or no other rides, so I personally think it should be a design.

Right, sorry, I am wrong here - I did think this was a Design.

However, my original thoughts still stand - and this is why I think posix said 'it doesn't make a difference here'. This is one of those parks which although it is submitted as a spotlight park, I'd still (as a RCT player rather than a panelist) review as a Design. The reason is that the 4D coaster clearly makes up the majority of the submission - as jaguarkid says.

Liampie I totally agree with you in saying that a Spotlight park should be judged on a load of categories... but for me, in this case, the ride takes up such a large portion of the map that I personally have still reviewed it as a Design. Sure, if there'd been a more 'equal' split, I'd have been totally wrong, but the centrepiece of the map is definitely the ride.
