Description
Ramses II, commonly known as Ramesses the Great, was the third ruler of the Nineteenth Dynasty of Egypt. He is often regarded as the greatest, most celebrated, and most powerful pharaoh of the New Kingdom, which itself was the most powerful period of ancient Egypt.

With an Egyptian theme, long-term member Sulakke secures his very first design win after 17 years on the site.
I found myself enjoying this a lot. Both the desert and floodplain were really nicely done from a landscaping perspective. The architecture is a wonderful complement to the ride without overwhelming it, and fits the theme very well. A very lively submission as well, which is always something I can get behind. 80%
An unexpected entry but wholly welcome. Ancient Egypt as a theme hasn't been tread too heavily in recent times so it's cool to see you take it on in a more realistic way, a bit reminiscent of a Grand Tour map perhaps. The architecture is very strong in the village scene, fantastic landscaping on the riverside too to create this lush arable bank with the farming community. Touches like the giant grain silos and lived-in details give it a lot of life, also liking the archway as the Pharaoh's crown in the ride signage, clever use. The coaster colours are rich and bold among the earthier tones of the rest of the map which feels appropriate, and I also quite like how relatively straightforward the dirt path effect is by layering the half-invisible stone path objects on that ground texture.
This scene along the river was very pleasant, feels very immersive:
Very nice work! I feel like this entry does a great job of putting the coaster layout first and foremost while also giving good attention to marco. This is probably the most realism used for the coaster while dropping it in a unique setting. I do wish the coaster interacted a bit more with the scenery, but the surroundings really are well made! I'd give it a 75.
A deeply pleasant surprise to see such a builder, and as one has come to expect from Sulakke, we have a classy, conceptually complete entry. An Egypt setting with a rural tack makes for well trodden ground, but plenty of room for execution to win the day.
The first thing I noticed upon opening the entry is the small scale. The scope is drawn fairly tight around the actual ride with few supporting elements. There are a few canoe hires and a motion simulator, but for the most part the coaster is left to speak for itself. However, everything present is executed to a high level of quality, with thoughtful moments everywhere you look. This makes me think that the builder had a limited timeframe and decided to choose a limited scope and knock it out of the park.
The park opens on the “inside L” viewing angle, where the predrop turn is above the cobra roll, but I don’t think the macro implies this to be the dominant viewing angle. The opposite angle, 180 degrees rotated, feels much more natural. The terrain steadily lowers down toward the river, creating a natural backdrop for the coaster. Additionally, the river becomes a focal point, with the crocs share of our buildings dominating that lower section. The detail is also weighted in that direction, with gorgeous orchards and farms and beautiful foliage and landscaping to complete the image. Additionally, the entries to the area follow the river, with no entrance from the perspective of “inside L”, making it hard to imagine it is the key focal direction.
There is, of course, path crossing the entry and exit of the cobra roll. That aside, there’s not much in the way of integration for the titular coaster. One of my pet peeves is when the coaster becomes outlined by path, and we see that around the diveloop. I think it would have felt more balanced to perhaps have bridged through the diveloop diagonally, perhaps to where the restaurant sits currently. This could have helped the balance of the section while helping integrate the coaster.
The coaster station is perhaps small and understated, but the detail that is there is top-notch. The entry plaza is fantastic, and the little pond it circles before entering the queue is a wonderful little moment. The rest of the queue is modest.
The main problem this entry experienced was a lack of bravery. The theme wasn’t brave, the scale wasn’t brave, the coaster integration wasn’t brave. Something with more personality completed to this level of detail and finesse could easily be a frontrunner. I look forward to anything Sulakke builds next.
SCORE: 75%, impressed but left wanting more.
This was a really great map for me, very much liked it. Really consistent theming throughout and a well deserved design overall. Colors were understated but spot on, architecture was lovely throughout, and I felt like you achieved what you set out to achieve.
The thing that held this back for me score-wise was only the amount of stuff on the map. Some parts felt relatively empty, and i'd have just generally liked more of absolutely everything. My favorite parts were the parts along the river, it REALLY reminded me of playing Assassin's Creed Origins. Very realistic to that time-period (based on my knowledge which is almost entirely from that game ha). Would love to see a full area with a few more ideas thrown in there for vibrancy.
I feel like RCTFAN would build something like this if he was building today...
More comments to come.
This was a fun park! I really enjoyed the atmosphere of everything. I feel like we haven't seen a good Egyptian theme for a while now. I also liked the object choice used here making it feel very simple yet elegant, The colour choice was good throughout but I kind of wish there was a bit more variety there.
Foliage and Landscaping: The landscaping was pretty good throughout but I think a more structured rock feature would have helped this park a lot. the water was really nice serving as a dead space for everything around it. the foliage on the other hand was fantastic throughout the entire entry. I absolutely loved this is little scene here
Architecture: Overall, it was pretty solid but there wasn't any structure that served as a center piece to tie the entire project together. Individually, some of the builds were extremely nice! I loved the silo looking things on the edge of the map. The station for the coaster was wonderful as well.
I wish there was a larger pyramid structure that interacted with the path and coaster.
Everything Else: The coaster kind of seems like it was just plopped down and it doesn't really interact with anything around it. I did like the small path interaction with he cobra roll. I also really enjoyed all of the small details your included in this park such as the little stall scattered throughout.
Overall: I'm really happy I checked this park out! I would probably rate this is 65%
A nice take on a classic theme (ancient Egypt), with good attention to detail around the riverfront with the various little buildings and bits of infrastructure. In fact, I found the overall atmosphere of the map to be quite believable, which is a complement given that many Egypt-themed parks in RCT tend to be overly grandiose and unrealistic. Everything about this park just screams “solid fundamentals,” and it’s hard to deny that it is deserving of a lower-end design accolade despite having a relatively light amount of content and sticking to standard, more conservative design principles. Also, I really liked the bridge that guests can use to cross over the coaster - that was a wonderful moment of interaction.
The Egyptian theme doesn't seem to have been done nearly as often as it used to be, so this is refreshing to see. I do agree with some of the other comments that this is a good example of realism; and funnily enough, it's different from the other entries because of this. It's also nice that coaster is placed in such a way to serve as a centerpiece for this entry instead of it being an afterthought.
One of my favorite qualities of this design would be all the peep scenes: the handyman shooing a snake, the peeps running from Ramses the astronaut, or the peep stepping in camel shit. There are so many small details and easter eggs here and there that really give this a quality of dynamism and add to the atmosphere an otherwise fairly sparse park. I mean... you have a peep milking a camel in the middle of a market.
I think if there's one thing preventing this design from hitting the higher tiers, it's a lack of additional content. There's a motion simulator, canoes in the background, and the main coaster. It looks like a quarter of the map was cut-off and blacktiled; maybe filling that area with a supporting tracked ride that interacts with the coaster would have elevated this. I guess even with the high quality of this entry, I was left wanting more.
The texture choices on this map are great, the CSO and base game textures and objects work great together to make such a convincing sandy desert landscape (I always deserts find very hard to do). The lush foliage and farmland by the water also adds some nice variety and contrast in a realistic way.
Architecture has a lot of variety while all fitting the theme and being coherent and there's a nice amount of peep level details in the street. I like the color choices through the whole park, the coaster colors pop out enough without clashing and the subtle color touches on the rest of the map look great against the sand and stone.
Coaster supports are well done, also will say the base game music and handful of base game objects gives a bit of classic and nostalgic feel.
Great technical execution overall, really enjoyed this map.
+ Nice to see a modern meta Egyptian theme
+ Your work always has a great charm and polish and you always have aesthetics down
+ Some of your small touches of the map were great, I wanted to see more of this at the front of the map. Maybe even more of those farming fields and ox’s. Could’ve built that up even more.
+ Loved the coaster station
- Just extending that map and having more environmental stuff happening would've allowed great depth of theme
I'm not saying this as a positive or negative—just some thoughts for your next steps. I'd love to see even more of your cool architecture, fun peep scenes, and those charming little details. I gave this map a 70, but honestly, you've got such a solid foundation that I can see you pushing that score way higher! Great job.
70%
Ramses delivers a strong and immersive take on the Egyptian theme. While it's a more traditional setting, your execution feels fresh and well-crafted. The vibrant coaster colors provide a great contrast to the sandy terrain and sandstone structures, making the layout pop visually. The realistic atmosphere is especially compelling—it’s easy to imagine yourself walking through the scene. Easily my favorite entry so far, and honestly, I’m surprised it didn’t score a little bit higher.
