Description
Recreation of Crystal Wing in Happy Valley, Beijing, China. I took creative liberties from the recreation by inserting some Panzer Dragoon-inspired architecture around the map. The real ride's main focus is its huge, orange castle-like structure, so I focused on that as its core retaining some of the real ride's interesting sightlines. Hope you enjoy exploring it.
Appreciate the help from Monsterbux, always fun building with you. There's a fun surprise with cutaway view! -

I like the basement part best.
I loved the boats on the pier, what great creativity, I had never seen anything like it. Oceanus passing between the orange building was nice. I liked the colors of the Crystal Wing because it was a good highlight/contrast with the orange building, just as I liked the blue of the crystals. All the structures holding the Panzer Explorer were great. You worked on difficult objects, I know, it's not easy to make it look good, but honestly everything is great and beautiful, I had a lot of fun enjoying this park. The details throughout the park made a big difference, very good. 80%
Awesome architecture with really creative object usage that blends really well. The various arches and overhangs are particular highlights, and I love all the dark areas.
I find the orange color on the castle a bit hard on the eyes, and the coaster pops hard with that bright yellow, but that's not really a problem.
The underwater detailing looks great and adds texture.
Some curvy pathing might have given this entry a little boost.
Awesome work, comfortably worthy of design to me.
lots of great ideas in here, and a very full map with a range of different parts to keep things interesting. yellow was a good choice for the flyer, it stands out nicely.
the palette is juuuust on the side of detracting from the theme, for me. makes things a little contrast-y, and hard to view. i appreciate the vibe though, and the commitment to making something different. the main structure is super interesting and you've done well to make sure a large building not boring to look at. the foliage was a little hit or miss for me, some areas were great and some areas felt a little thrown together. but overall a great map with enough quality to carry it through.
The big castle is structurally really nicely done. Love all the different objects being incorporated and the palette helps making it fit a little better too. Not overly huge on the orange, but i think its ok. Moreso wouldve wished some different color highlights on the castle for some variety.
Aside from that i think the park is great. The other rides are really nicely integrated. I love how the log flume and panzer explorer dig into the castle as well. The little details with the docks and markets are great and make the park feel wonderfully alive and vibrant.
Some more elaborate pathing and a different style of map edge (this one is a touch to busy for me) could have elevated the map a bit for me, but still a wonderful park easily worthy of design imo. Great work
This map really grew on me. At first, I found the palette to be a bit too saturated, but I liked it more and more after viewing it for a while. I think where this map shines is creating a distinct aesthetic that looks really cool. The way I would explain it is the map almost looks like a page from Tintin. I hope that makes sense. I also want to highlight the many little details you've managed to accomplish with only a semi-cso toolbox. The many signs, stalls, boats, and other details elevated this map for me. Nice work. 75%
Appreciate all the nice feedback! I will definitely take the palette into account as I kind of blow it off too much in my builds or settle with what I have, lol. I had started with a basic test idea for the peak of the Crystal Wing castle, and I had also sketched out some basic ideas for a "Jinwa" park which this specific coaster was an idea to include. Since I doubt I'll ever make material progress on that project, I decided I'd make something for it in a smaller scale between Crystal Wing and its side coaster Panzer Explorer (which is some small pop-up coaster in China that's abandoned to my knowledge called Sky Explorer). I just tweaked it to be more interesting against the Panzer Dragoon (an old video game) styled architecture I built. That was also from a very small build I abandoned during head-to-head which I didn't want to leave the architecture for the dust. All in all, it was put together to try to make something interesting here with the DKSO bench.
The personal goals for me on this map was to push texture more as I felt its not something I do a lot of since I'm mostly a NCSO builder. One thing that helped was bouncing ideas off of Monsterbux for object mixing - I ended up experimenting a lot more with ideas and trying to see how the workbench could be pushed in this sense. I think what I ended up with is interesting in some ways, definitely misses on others - like having too much texture in some areas or feeling too "blank" mostly where I left big path sections without much detail or variation.
Thanks to the panel for taking a look and scoring it! Appreciated!
Congrats on the design! This park really reminds me of Meizhou Rising because of its setting, the shape of the island, and the boat dock.
As usual for DKMP parks, this has a lot of clever utilization of otherwise bad, hard-to-use scenery. The dam tower, minaret pieces, and tipis surprisingly make for a good combination. Also, I'm usually very against the use of recolored trees as rocks, but they surprisingly work here. Lots of small details as well, like invisible dynamite crates used as diamonds for a mine cart or kremlin wall pieces as wings.
If there's something about this map that I don't like, it would be the edges (though that wouldn't factor into my voting if I were do vote).I don't like the zig-zag pattern of the rocks and a blue wall would've been cleaner than a waterfall for the water. Also, I think, with two coasters and a flume, this arguably is better fit for a spotlight submission. The eurofighter in particular, with its steeper than vertical drop; I thought was more interesting than the main coaster which was obscured by the castle.
Despite these minor criticisms, this was a well-deserved win. The architecture, landscaping, and scenery are all excellent and there is some extremely creative scenery use on display.
massive fan of this map.
