With Six Flags Xtreme Canada long done, and Paramount Great Excursion in the vault indefinitely, it is time to move forward in my next custom park project: Fox Studios World. To be technical, despite me dubbing this my second park project, it isn't - PGE is. But since I barely started it when I went on hiatus, and here I am with a new project underway, I consider FSW my second park.

As far as I know, there has been no RCT park using the (20th Century) Fox brand, so I consider it the first time it is being done. I have great plans for this park, and can't wait to get deep into its design.

Here are a few details on what I have planned:

    Themed Areas:
Star Wars Galaxy - A section of park themed to the original Star Wars trilogy (I am not a fan of the newer trilogy). My planned signature ride will be a flying rollercoaster going through the Death Star trenches much like the climactic moments in Episode 4: A New Hope (the original Star Wars movie).
Thrill Sector - This area of the park will house the bulk of the thrill rides, including my most fondest idea, Behind Enemy Lines, a propelled inverted coaster that is launched off an aircraft carrier runnings its course over the lake and edging the mountainous terrain.
Old Tyme Exposition - A non-movie themed area mainly dedicated to traditional carnival and fairground rides.
Ice Age: The Adventure - My kid's section of park themed to the popular Ice Age computer animated movie and its sequel.

Fox actually has quite a few movie titles that has potential for some good rides. Such titles I am hoping to use include: X-Men, Flight Of The Phoenix, I Robot, Cast Away, Speed, True Lies, Broken Arrow, Aliens, Predator, Die Hard, and more.

I have a few screenshots to show, but they are pretty bare since I just began construction of the park. I created my own website on FreeWebTown to host my own RCT2 site (see the banner/signature below) including all the screenshots, updates, links to each site I post in, etc.

As always, feedback is always appreciated.

On a side note, my first park, Six Flags Xtreme Canada, can be downloaded from my site as well.

    Cheers.
    TD

Looks pretty good for your second park. The foilage here could be improved but is still pretty nice. The restaurant is nice too and was wondering what the name for it was. The amphitheatre and private group sections look great, though the theatre could use some seating, and some entertainers on the stage. :p

Overall, it looks good. Looking forward to more. :)

Thanks for the comments. The restaurant doesn't have a name... yet. Inside of it, there are custom stalls of a McDonalds, Starbucks, Dairy Queen, and KFC.

Wasn't planning on putting seats at the amphitheatre, was thinking it'd be one of those venues where you basically find a spot and park yourself there on the grass somewhere.

And I do not do the riverdance in a thong!

you lie i have pictures but either way its good but take a look at some of the spotlights to get an idea of where to go with your architecture and flow.

Sshhhhhhh! I thought you burned or buried those pictures!

I know what you're saying about the architecture. I definitely consider that my weakness in park design... boring and unoriginal buildings, etc. It is something I am trying to work on.

Well...for being a 2nd park is nice...the amphitheatre is good.
I suggest varying the types trees, and putting some extra details in the restaurant, because it's kinda simple and blocky :( .
Anyways...the park is just starting, I'm interested to see the rest. ;)

Overall, I've had a wide variety of suggestions from the different forums that I post in - so thanks for that, I do take the suggestions objectively.

Thought I'd post a little update - nothing too exciting, but I like to pay attention to detail, and finish off with one area before moving on. I've been working on some details for the private member's section of the park, and also I've been working on the main entrance of the park.

For the "main entrance" screenshot, it is by far incomplete, but I wanted to post my progress with it at this point as I'd like to seek out some advice as to the best way of spicing it up, particularly around the bridge over the water portion. As you may have noticed, I did make some relatively minor changes to the patio side of the as of yet unnamed restaurant, including reworking the waterfall... but I wonder what else I can do with it. At the bottom of that screenshot is a souvenir shop. Inside of it are numerous different souvenir stalls.

    Any suggestions are appreciated.

Pretty well done there. I think it's about time that someone did something with FOX. It seems to be the least used. I hope you do something with Independence Day and Garfield!

I thought about Independence Day, and it may turn into some sort of thrill ride... I'm not sure yet, but it won't be one of the 'big attractions' simply because I didn't like the movie so much. Garfield was one of my first ideas when it came to theming a kid's section, but decided to go with Ice Age. I thought about 2 kid's sections at one point, one being Garfield related, but didn't really see the point of multiple kid's areas of the park.

    Well...
    Suggestions:
-Add some windows to the monorail station (I guess it's the station, isn't it?)
-Quit some flowers (fountain) and put some bushes.
-Vary in the selection of the trees, put more kind of vegetation.

^Perhaps you could make an Indpence Day indoor launcher and Garfield something like Garfield's house in a kiddie area. Now you could also do Edward Scissor Hands or The Sandlot.

The indoor Independence Day coaster idea could work... am not at the point of making rides yet but that seems like a neat idea.

The landscaping seems very simplistic and unnatural. I'd suggest browsing at a few parks around NE and studying their landscaping. The architecture could be better, because the glass looks weird with the roooves. Like said earlier, I'd use less trees but more types of trees. The fox sign in flowers would look better if made out of quarter tile flowers. Maybe have some sidewalks along main paths.

It's been a little while since I last posted, but that's mainly cause I haven't really done much on the park in the past few weeks or so. I'm still working on the main entrance area of the park. Overall the feedback and suggestions I am getting are quite varied, some saying that they like some specific parts about something, but others comment that they don't like the same thing for the very same reasons... lots of opinions out there - and certainly can't please everyone.

Anyway, I've done some reworking of my main entrance. In regards to the restaurant, I just did a tiny bit of tinkering, adding some sunroofs, and adding an overhang over the entrance to the restaurant (something specifically suggested by someone to me). I want to keep the area decorated but still have lots of space for peeps to walk around (some say that's great, others say it's a bad idea). I've just added some flowers and foliage of sorts.

The gift shop has been moved and redone. Now, on the mainfloor is the shop, with 4 or 5 stalls in it, and on the 2nd floor is the monorail station.

Proceeding up the main entrance you'll find an observation deck in a not-entirely enclosed island. I think it looks nice.

Still some tinkering to do to enhance the appearance of the area but it's finally taking a more certain shape.
  • RCFanB&M%s's Photo
    Ok...better than before.
Anyways, I suggest removing some bushes of the Observation deck, or at least put more types of foliage and not all the same...
The entrace is better, but you should remove those water things(I always forget the name), or just let the ones which are next to the fences. The restaurant is still kinda strange IMO, specially with the white glasses.
Anyways, I still think that for being a 2nd park is pretty good. Keep going...

Scenery, and more particularly, creative architecture is my major weakpoint in RCT2. I'm trying to improve in that aspect, but am not doing too well at that.

this is the first case in the history of NE that a new parkmaker wasn't lambasted for not being very good at the game...

    cheers.
