I am rating coasters just by the fun factor and often fun is because of going to parks with friends, meeting people etc.

    1. Troy - great layout, nice talk to all the GCII people, great ride in the rain with Mr. Hain Jr.
    2. Goliath (WW)- first big coaster, Stengel Dive rocks, 8 rides in a row with normal line being 30mins (;))
    3. Black Mamba - first public rider front row left, great interaction with theming, riding in darkness is great
    4. Colossos (HP) - poor woodie, but a lot of fun on the 5th birthday party
    5. Big Apple (Plohn) - 60 coaster fans riding kiddie coasters; great fun
    6. Temple of the Nighthawk - eating, drinking, riding with santa claus caps on, fun, fun, fun
    7. G'sengte Sau - one hour ERT + getting a wheel + lifthill walk ok ...
    8. Boomerang (Toverland) - Vekoma guessing how to bank a coaster can be funny
    9. some wild mouse on a local fair - riding with open restraints can be quite interesting
    10. Riolraat (Hellendoorn) - great queue line, nice theming

Yes, I am a fan of small Coasters.

I'm currently in more of a wooden coaster mood, though I tried to include the same number of both. The order is fairly arbitrary, especially since some of them probably wouldn't rank as highly if I rode them now. It's really more of a favorites list than a ranking. I could probably fit about 10 more on there that I like about as well.

    1. Boulderdash @ Lake Compounce
    2. Hades @ Mt. Olympus
    3. Talon @ Dorney Park
    4. Lightning Racer @ Hershey Park
    5. Euro Mir @ Europa Park
    6. Tatsu @ Six Flags Magic Mountain
    7. Cyclops @ Mt. Olympus
    8. Wild Thing @ Valleyfair
    9. Roar @ Six Flags Discovery Kingdom
    10. Medusa @ Six Flags Discovery Kingdom

The others that didn't make it this time: Renegade @ Valleyfair, X @ SFMM, Wildcat @ Hershey Park, Cyclone @ Coney Island, Ghostrider @ KBF, Phantom's Revenge @ Kennywood, Katun @ Mirabilandia, California Screamin' @ DCA, Space Mountain @ DLCA, Superman Krypton Coaster @ SFFT, Tremors @ Silverwood, Avalanche @ Timber Falls.

I've been thinking of doing a series of topics each week where you guys vote for your favourite coaster of each type (ie. Inverted Coaster) and then see which coaster wins in each type, similar to one that was done at RCT Station.

    a. Would that be a good idea?
    b. If so, then what would we do about clone coasters (for example, would Batman count as all Batmans, or would there be Batman from each park)
    c. Should I have it as a poll with selected rides, or just have an open vote with me counting the posts?
  • Liampie%s's Photo
    @5Dave: Actually, it is GCII.
  • 5dave%s's Photo
^as far as I know, the company is called Great Coasters International, or not?

@ Metropole: a: yeah b: for each park (theming plays a role) c: poll
But what do you do if a new ride opens? A new poll every year?

  • Xcoaster%s's Photo
Great Coasters International, Inc. So you're both right. And I noticed that if I go on Thunderbird, I'll have been on every other GCI,I coaster listed on wikipedia. Or more likely, Thunderhead on rcdb.com.
    a. Sure
    b. I'd just do them all as one, but I don't really care.
    c. Maybe have nominations, but it should be a poll

Yeah, I have been wondering about that...
Have you actually been on it or are you just interested in it?
  • CedarPoint6%s's Photo
Nope, never been on it, although it looks to me like the best B&M coaster in the world and is currently set as #2 on my most want to ride list.

Have you been to Toverland already? You should have told me. I would have been there for sure.

Apart from that it is GCII. The company itself is calling itself GCII, their shirts say GCII, they say GCII when talking to them, ...
Well I guess both is sort of right, as most other companys don't care about the I from Inc., but it always seemed appropriate to me to use the abbreviation the company is using.

    @Metro:
Problem will be that europeans vote for their coasters, americans for the american coasters. Better have a topic with people voting. So we can see where they are coming from and maybe understand their voting better.

Cool, ill take into account what people have said and start organising it. Going to Barcelona for a few days tomorrow so won't be back til thursday (going to Port Aventura, woot). Will have the first poll up fri or sat probably.

    Bye
