hey pierrot. is dubstep even known in korea? just curious :3
  • tdub96%s's Photo
I listended to most of those you listed there dude, and none of em I liked. I knew beforehand that most of those guys were from the earlier dubstep days when it was much more mellow, but thats too soft for my liking.

Probably a dumb question, but does any know exactly how dubstep is made? I recently downloaded some music editing software and I would like to start making my own dubstep beats. Only problem is I'm not sure where to start. Is there like a formula I should be aware of? Any help would be nice.

I make it too. I just abandon old songs as i get more and more familiar with the programs.

If you use fruity loops studios I highly recommend you to ditch it and get Ableton Live. Also look up a program called Massive synth. Massive synth allows you to make your own custom bass synths and then put them in Ableton live for a song.

this video only covers the basic drum patterns. but look at part 2/3 and 3/3. This has helped me immensely.
And also, it's okay if you don't have any hardware. Skrillex made his scary monsters and nice sprites EP from his macbook and some crappy speakers.

Best of luck! It seems very complicated but you just have to keep trying.

I've been obsessed with dubstep over the past year and I LOVE it! It fits great into raves along with techno, house, and trance. I have over 600 dubstep songs and I really have a particular style when in comes to dubstep. There are a lot of people that like the filth in dubstep, which is considered to be heavy wubwubwub drops without the support of many other songs, but I prefer the "softer" dubstep. This subgenre of dubstep literally sounds like MAGIC in my ears.

Check out this one by Gemini

One of the best songs EVER

    Great song

But I do love the filthy shit if it's really good ;)

    Borgore is funny

And everything by Skrillex (Specifically his non-dubstep songs)

Wow man thanks. I'm actually using a program called Mixcraft. Its similar to Garageband. It comes with a lot of nice midi synths.
