Theme Park Discussion / North America 2015 coasters

I wonder if Brian can give us any insight. Pretty please? :p

Tallest, Fastest, and Longest doesn't mean anything if you're going off by just one city and their only competition is probably the Incredible Hulk at Universal. It's amusing how theme parks advertise their new rides by narrowing their market so they can use "keywords" and not be sued heh.

Like Phantasialand, building the "fastest multiple launch coaster" in europe. They don't mention that the only other multiple launch coaster is Helix.

An interesting article on Fury 325,

Just saw that Tempesto in Bush Garden Williamsburg has shoulder restrains. Wtf is it with America and those things

  • Austin55%s's Photo
That thing dangles you upside down for a bit of time. Seems like an OK choice to me.

^The other versions of it don't, I think that is Version1s point.

I feel like the actual part that does work is the part over you lap, even with shoulder restraints (except flyers for obvious reason). I am a fan of the xcoaster style lap bars any day (is that what they're called? cant remember)

  • Version1%s's Photo

I hate the normal premier restrains as used by Sky Scream and apparently Tempesto, because they put so much pressure on the shin bone. The X-Car restrains are indeed glorious (german manufacturers just seem to know how to do restrains)

  • Louis!%s's Photo

Nah the X-Car restraints are terrible at pinning you in place in an uncomfortable position.

Is it the same restraints as Mr freeze? When it was still lap bars? I thought those were fine

Here a pic of the X-Car trains and restrains.

I rode both Freischütz and Sky Wheel and I thought they were really great. If I had to rank restrains then it would probably be like this:

    1. Mack MegaCoaster

    2. GCI Millennium Flyers/Wooden Coasters in general

    3. Maurer X-Car

    4. B&M Mega Coaster

    5. Gerstlauer Lap Bars

    6. Premier Rides (Revenge of the Mummy)

    7. Intamin Lap Bars

    8. Modern Shoulder Restrains (with the leather strap used on Wingriders and Kumbak Trains)

    9. B&M Shoulder Restrains

    10. "Modern" Vekoma Train

    11. Arrow

    12. Premier Rides (Sky Rocket II)

X-car restraints are amazing. I could sit upside down in them all day long. Most comfortable restraints second to only B&M flyers, who are more comfortable than my own bed.

    Looks pretty bat-shit crazy hah.

Looks like the first drop has the most spin, after this, it's meh.

Not exactly North America, but if anybody was wondering what it was to die and go through an crematorium... Well wonder no longer, China built an crematorium you can pretend to die and burn in... Yay? And this is a actual ride in a actual theme park.

I'm pleased to report that Ex-Mantis doesn't suck.  The back half feels like the turns are tighter than B&M used for their unmodified built-on-a-parking-lot floorless coasters, and it is pretty cool experiencing elements like the inclined loop without the downsides of a stand-up.
