Music played in a computer isn't music. It isn't a group of musicians playing music, it is a computer using 1s and 0s to create a synthetic copy of a group of musicians playing music.
The problem is that WinAmp, even with it's equalizer, sounds precisely like that. A fake, a phoney.
RealOne Player however does a much better job of portraying the music in an organic, realisitic manner. Even though it is still a synthetic copy, it doesn't sound like one.
Or doesn't sound nearly as much like one as WinAmp does.
And with effective usage of the Equalizer and Effects that come with the "Plus" edition of the player, it can be made to sound like a band, playing live, right in your room!
Well, close enough to make me happy, at least.
Just use the equalizer setting to adjust the music to your tastes, pump the reverb up all the way, and set the "Room Size" option to the size of the room your in.
It will then sound like the music is comming out of a room the size of yours, rather than a computer. The reverb just adds to the sensation, and besides, reverb is the greatest thing since ever!
Don't agree? Well, then you suck.
Edit: For all those too lazy to fuck around with the equalizer, or interested in knowing what settings I used for my little (mostly) unbiased review-thingy... go here.
Those settings produce the best sound, from my experience. But every computer is different, every set of speakers is different, every filetype is different and every program is different.
And yes, those settings will work on all media players. Or all players with an equalizer, with the same number of sliders. -

Chaunces.
Using your theory nothing would be real music then, the only way you could listen to real music is to go and see a concert and even then that isn't real because at most major concerts the music goes through an audio system first. So in all relativity your idea is flawed.Don't agree? Well, then you suck.
You and your reverb, silly Chaunces. If you're so into this real music go see some piece of shit band play in some bar or washed out whore house somewhere. That should suit your needs well.
Chaunces needs to go to public schools. -

No, it is still real music if it goes through a sound system, because a sound system takes the music directly. However a computer, or even a CD, is just a synthetic copy of the music. It doesn't "store" music, it stores the information needed to recreate the music.
The closest you'll come to "real music" in a recorded format is Vinyl or Tape. But as I've said, going to see a concert is the only way to truly hear real music.
With that said: RealOne Player, is still the player with audio that sounds most real. And reverb isn't silly! It's purdy-dy-dy-dy-dy!!!!!!!! Echo-ho-ho-ho-ho!!!!!!! Yay-ay-ay-ay-ay-!!!!!!! Weee-eee-eee-eee-eee!!! And stuff-uff-uff. -

Who started that dumb thing anywho? Might have been DUKE... and why the hell are you trying to be like DUKE? I thought you all hated him and stuff. -

You're so funny Chauncy. I do hate him but Chaunces is funny, I guess. That is why I use it.
That and the fact that I don't want to spell out your whole name.
But yes. Think what you want, we've all got our own opinions. It's just, mine are right and yours are wrong.
In fact, most of the music in mainstream concerts is CONVERTED, how do you think they get allthose cool effects.
Shit its time for PE. Bye. -

Well, i just switched to winamp, and you guys were right, its amazingly better. -

I don't listen to too much music that is "converted" or uses a lot of effects. Only my electronica, which I'd never go see live. Why? Because its boring as fuck watching some ugly idiot push buttons for two and a half hours.
Besides, the music is exactly what it is on the CD usually. What's the point?
Anywho... yeah, most of the bands I would go to see in concert would shoot somebody if they told them to use "converted" music. Besides, they tend to play small clubs.
A small club isn't really going to need to "convert" its music, or anything like that. Just plug your instruments and microphones into your amps, plug the amps into the speakers, and rock out dudes! Or something. -

Just like I said.A small club isn't really going to need to "convert" its music, or anything like that. Just plug your instruments and microphones into your amps, plug the amps into the speakers, and rock out dudes! Or something.
I guess I'm going to stop now. Everyone's computer, speakers, and preferences are different, so it's hard to change anyones mind.
Chauncy, if you were ever on AIM I would talk to you about those speakers, you anti-social piece of shit. -

true stuff, concerts are the best for music, can't get any better than that, I wanna FEEL my music reverberate in my ribcage, My computer can't do that even with my awesome speakers, atleats not like a concert can. -

They all have their good and bad qualities for each person's individual needs. Here are my personal opinions:
Windows Media Player: On my PC I have Windows 98. I can't download the latest version of WMP, so I can't burn onto CD's. As a player it's OK, but I've had problems lately. It won't let me open more than 7-10 songs at a time. I have to open a few, add them to a playlist, add a few more etc. It's fine on my other computers that have XP however.
WinAmp: I downloaded it about a week and a half ago to see what the hype was and because I was pissed at WMP. I wasn't too impressed. I personally like to see my songs listed, not just three at a time. I'm sure that there's some way that I could change that, but I'm lazy and don't feel like taking the time to fix it. Plus I don't change the skins for it. I don't need to mess with that. I usually have IE open in front of the player anyway. What's the point? I would give it more time except for the next player to be reviewed...
RealOne Player: Now there's one that I'm liking. I downloaded it at the same time as WinAmp, but this one I immediately started liking. It rips and burns apparently (haven't gotten around to testing it..laziness). Number one on my list however.
MusicMatch: Sucks. Period. .
I can't think of anymore that I have on this PC. Too bad.
Blah. Never heard of foobar. Oh well. If you just read that, you're a whole $.02 richer. My two cents was just thrown right at your forehead.

First off. Welcome to NE! You're going to enjoy your stay here, I promise you that. The members here are great, funny, and sometimes annoying.RealOne Player: Now there's one that I'm liking. Second off: Every single music program can rip and burn, well at least the goods one so you're point has just been neutralized. So yeah. Because of all of yours and Chauncy's ramblings about Real One (What a cool name) I think I'm going to have to down load this shiz. Yes, right now. I'll report back later tonight.
