Congratulations all contestants!  All 15 entries have been accounted for and documented.

Panelist, please be on the lookout for a message detailing the voting process in the next 24 hours.  Please be time conscious and remember that there are 15 entries that all deserve equal time and attention.

  • Iron Rattler%s's Photo

When the panel is finished will there be a staggered rollout of the entries or will they all be released at once?

  • G Force%s's Photo
We hope to start rolling out maps in the next few days.

    NEDC4 RESULTS

It's time to unveil the results of NEDC4! The panel has spoken, and with an incredible 15 entries, this fourth version of the Design Challenge event just might be the most successful we've ever had.

As with previous NEDCs we'll start with last place and work our way to the top, so be sure to check out each park as it is released and check back for even better entries.

To begin we're releasing a few who didn't make the cut for the coveted Design accolade: here are 15th-12th place.

    Entries #15-12

With a contest reputation like Liam's, expectations were certainly high when he revealed he had a secret entry in the works. What incredible mystery theme had Liam picked? The panel was puzzled by what was eventually submitted; call it minimalism, a joke park, the ultimate meta statement, or just "last place" - Liampie calls it:
15th - Liampie: Table with Umbrella
    http://www.nedesigns...-with-umbrella/

Iron Rattler was a late arrival to the large pool of members who announced they were working on entries.  His mix of frightful dark magic and sullen swamp will certainly run a chill down your spine, but maybe that's more because it's a little unpolished than because of the theme.
    14th - Iron Rattler: Warlock
    http://www.nedesigns.../warlock-nedc4/

The debate of Macro vs Micro will certainly continue to be a hot topic on NE, but CHE chose to go for a different kind of micro - his Glow-Worm zooms in on a back garden to show us some incredibly charming custom flats.
    13th - CHE: Glow-Worm
    http://www.nedesigns...low-worm-nedc4/

Jappy had a lot of success with the panel in 2016, earning several accolades for his park projects.  His NEDC4 entry continues the familiar theme of a european park and realistic theming, this time with a walibi spin.
    12th - Jappy: Shimmeria Subway
    http://www.nedesigns...a-subway-nedc4/

Higher placed entries to follow in the coming days!

Finally! Already some nice submissions. If these are the lowest scoring ones, than I'm looking forward to see the other submissions, because these are already from a good level.

Also, Liam's submission should have won. This contest is rigged and y'all are fake news!

Great little write ups, Russ. Enjoyed reading those.

I'm glad to finally see this get off the ground. Would like to give a huge thank you to the admin team for putting on such a wonderful and successful contest. Outside of H2H I truly didn't think it was possible! This kind of thing convinces me even more that this community is still as strong as it was years ago. Couldn't be happier to be a part of it! :)

Wish I had the time to participate in this. Love the concept. Looking forward to see all entries. Good work everyone.

  • bigshootergill%s's Photo

I wish I could have participated too. I've been way too much into my current park and I didn't want to lose momentum. I assume this was the only official contest of 2017, but the admins can correct me if I'm wrong.

Our second round of releases includes a couple of free-floating concept parks, a dose of nostlagia, and some outstanding ride interaction.

    >Entries #11-8

Version1 continues to improve, but it seems he's always just missing the train. Luckily his colonial-themed park offers a transportation magic trick, with guests finding just a few steps dividing the Netherlands from the African wildlands. His fantastic ride interaction is definitely a highlight and stands out among other entries.
    11th - Version1: Colonial Dreams
    http://www.nedesigns...l-dreams-nedc4/

The 2016 Awards introduced the "nostalgic parkmaking" category, and Faas seems to be aiming for a nomination. Apollo offers throwback aesthetics with object choices and themes as old as CSO RCT2. Faas uses the waterfront to both frame the coaster layout picturesquely and serve as the host to a splash boats ride that dives under the coaster track.
    10th - Faas: Apollo
    http://www.nedesigns...7/apollo-nedc4/

Caelipotens - from the Latin "caelum" (heaven) and "potens" (powerful) is RWE's glimpse into the realm of the gods. The setting has Louis's floorless soaring through cloudbanks, past spires and temples. RWE's entry is creative, but the judges felt it was let down by simplicity, and it misses the Design mark.
    9th - RWE: Caelipotens
    http://www.nedesigns...lipotens-nedc4/

Our first Design Winner of the contest comes in at 8th place, with another vision of floating islands. Instead of RWE's clouds, Scoop envisions Ukiyo - the "floating world" - as a sky garden of overgrown islands with dangling roots. The enormous gate structure supporting the coaster is a landmark for a park that can be difficult to navigate.
8th - Scoop: Ukiyo (The Floating World) - Design Winner
    http://www.nedesigns...floating-world/

Wow, 8 entries making the design mark! Thanks to everyone making this contest such a succes!

We're now well above the 65% marker, and competition heats up as scores climb higher. Our third round of releases features a pair of submissions by two well known parkmakers with very different backgrounds and play styles, both finding a way to reach the prestigious 70% mark with their designs.

    Entries #6 - #7

Four-time Design winner Stoksy switches hemispheres to bring us a park from the Great White North with his slice of LaRonde.  The iconic former Montreal Expo site is partially recreated as Stoksy imagines the NEDC layout replacing the park's aging Boomerang.  It's a tight fit, but the unique footprint leads to great coaster interaction.  The kiddie rapids ride is a definite gem in this borderline hyper-realism entry.

    8th - Stoksy: Panther @ La Ronde
    http://www.nedesigns...nther-la-ronde/

Primarily known for LL work, ][ntamin has made a rare venture into solo RCT2 work this contest and has produced a respectable sci-fi entry. A robot arm ride and a space plane hangar stand out from the gritty dilapidated space colony setting.  Panel voters applauded the refreshing approach to texture, but the sometimes messy execution withheld this submission from breaking the 75% mark and the top five finishers.

    7th - ][ntamin22: Xenoforce Incursion
    http://www.nedesigns...orce-incursion/

This contest is awesome so far. I like the staggered release with the little bio for each park and creator. Really well done and props to the admin team and all the participants.
